Highly recommended. Even I as a local learned some things I didn't know about my city. It's short focused on the most important places downtown, it's fun and it's free. Do tip the guide though.

I participated in at least 10 free walking tours in Europe, this is undoubtedly the best in the world
Although the tour guide is a local, an American accent, a steady typhoon, and rich experience have made me continue to learn not only the location introduced by the tour guide, the culture and history of Paulia, the situation in the Balkan Peninsula, but also I see The enthusiasm of the locals for no return or even income is just to sell the country they love. I also want to return to Taiwan as a newcomer, trying to let everyone understand the historical status and culture, and tirelessly answer questions. I saw it all the time during the trip
Even if it is the same itinerary, I will definitely recommend all my friends who want to come to Europe to this place that makes me full of passion and patriotic sentiment. Without them, Sofia would only be a label for my many tourist locations, but this The free walking tour makes me want to come back in the near future. The 6 o'clock tour is not sunny, very comfortable, and you can also see the sunset. The route is perfect and you will not be embarrassed or you are walking. After you go, you will fully understand the history of Bulgaria. New Generation and old generation issues, food, and ultra-low enumerations, I will definitely be a guide next time I listen carefully, thank you for letting me fall in love here, thank you

Great Sofia tour organised by a group of fantastic people. When I first arrived in Sofia I thought it was a soulless city made of sad post communists blocks. I completely changed my mind about the city after this tour. Vasil, our tour guide, was very informative, smart and funny. He showed us city from different perspective and he gave a great input into history of Sofia. Our tour lasted about 2 hours, but it was quite chilled and slow-paced so it s suitable for those who are less mobile. I m aware that this group organises other tours in Sofia however our time was tight and we weren t able to join them. Thank you to the whole team from Tola and Damian (Poles from the UK)

After waiting for people to arrive until a certain hour, they walk the city to you, if you are a curious person like me, you will visit all the places you visited on the first day because Sofia is such a city that every place to visit is within walking distance and always bottom. Still, listening to the story of the city from the local is not a separate issue.

We got told about this Free Tour from our hostel and we decided to join the one at 11 am. Our guide name was Svetla and she was simply amazing! She was really passionate about her city and managed to give us many interesting historical and more information, in an entertaining and fun way. This tour was definitely a great choice! It takes 2 hours in total and manages to show the most important buildings and churches in the city center. It is for free and at the end people can decide if giving a tip - she totally deserved it. Also, at the end of the tour Svetla stayed a bit longer so that people could ask her for any extra advice they wanted. Higly recommended.

This was only our second experience of a free walking tour (the first one being in Bratislava) and we absolutely loved it. We thought there wasn't much to see or knoow about in Sofia, which we quuickly realised was a very ignorant viewpoint and the free walking tours really helped in us understanding more about the city and the history of Bulgaria.

We did the Jewish Tour and the Free Walking Tour and our guides were both very entertaining and were able to answer all our questions very well. These free walking tours are amazing to find out more about a particular city or country and we honestly would've never found out anything about the Jewish history, how the name Sofia came about, or the geographical importance of the city in the past.

Our Free Sofia Tour guide was really interesting as she gave out free Bulgarian candies to us for answering questions correctly. We found that this helped us pay more attention throughout and everyone else also listened attentively.

Our guide Slavyan was engaging, entertaining and very sociable - absolutely fabulous!!!
We were not sure, what could we do in 2 h of the tour, but time just flew and was the best tour I've attended (and it's free!)
Slavyan - you're amazing!!! Than you!

Definitely the best way to get a first view of the city's history and how that can be discovered through the buildings (and ruins) around the city centre. In the 2 hour tour you do not go into any of the buildings, but it does show you where you will want to go inside later. Our guide, Sveta, really loves her city and it showed in her enthusiasm to show it off to us!
On the next day we took the Free Jewish Tour with Slavyan. He is Jewish himself, born in Sofia and lived here all his life. So his tour of the history of the Jewish community in the city was really fascinating!

We had a great tour with our friendly and very well-informed tour guide Nikolai. The tour really concentrates and the highlights of the city and was never in a way boring. Also the recommendations were to find decent restaurants and bars helped me a lot. Free Sofia Walking Tour is definitely a must-do!

I always enjoy the free tours in Europe, but this one was really special. Our guide Tomi(slav) was absolutely amazing, he was funny, charismatic, really friendly, had awesome stories and could answer every question he was asked!
Sofia is a beautiful city with an amazing history, so if you visit , the free tour is a must, and hopefully you'll have Tomi as a guide (or someone as good).

Our guide Kristina was very cheerful even as the weather turned colder, and made an effort to kept all the clients involved. She knew all about the landmarks including recent and planned future changes. And I was impressed that she was able to answer all our tangential questions too. She is enthusiastic about her city and her organisation.

We visited Sofia on the weekend and tried to get best of it, so we decided to take a free tour in downtown and learn something new. Kris was our tour guide and he was really amazing! He gave us enough information, he was funny, willing to answer extra questions and length of the tour is long enough to stay focus and not get bored. We would recommend it definitely!

Great, both the General and Gastronomic Tour (Balkan Bites, also free) or the Pub Crawl where you get to know some of the most curious bars and pubs in Sofia (in the latter you pay 20 leva for person but drinks are included).

Fantastic guides, very attentive, in very affordable English.

In the first place, the tour is free and in the end you can always give a contribution that will be based on how good the tour has been for you and what your pocket has the possibility to give, and just because of this it makes it perfect, because it fits the pocket of any tourist. The tour lasts about two hours (little more or less depending on the amount of questions that are generated). It is usually done by students with very good English, and if you are lucky with some other languages. I totally recommend it. The tour takes place every day at 11 am and at 6 pm, the meeting point is the courthouse, just where the vitosha boulevard begins / ends

Absolutely, undoubtedly, the best tour in town. Our tour guide, Slavian, was wonderful and took us through town and Bulgarian history in the most fun and interesting way.
I recommend this tour to anyone coming to Sofia. Taking it right when we started our trip added a lot to it with Slavian's great tips and advices.

It was so great with Slavyan, he is very knowledgeable anf funny! I could know about the city Sofia, and not only the city but also the country! I had no idea where to go and what to do when I arrived Sofia but thanks to him, I could visit many places in Sofia! It was 2 hours of tour but I can't really count how many places I visited. It was really AMAZING, AMAZING. I would love to give him tips, but sadly, since I didn't exchange enough money from euro, I couldn't give him some tips. But again, your tour was AMAZING! So if I go to Sofia next time, I will take your tour again and give you lots of tips for sure! Thank you so much! Hope you earns lots of money without working hard

This is one of the best ways around to get to know...

This is one of the best ways around to get to know Sofia. A very knowledgable guide takes you around Town on a walking tour, tells you all kinds of interesting things about the city and shows shows you many of the most interesting places to visit. You will not actually enter any of these places so try to keep track so you know where to come back to.

My guide passed by a few places without any explanation because he didn't think most people would be interested in them (like the Archeological Museum, which incidentally, is a wonderful place to visit) so make sure to ask questions.

At the end they will distribute discount passes. Don't forget to pick these up. Yes, the tour is free but they ask for a tip at the end. They deserve whatever they get.

We had a lovely free walking tour with Tommy. He was very knowledgeable and fun to listen to. It was a very hot day, so we were getting tired by the end of the tour and almost wanted to leave due to the heat, but he kept us interested and we were happy to stay until the end of the tour.
