Lovely location with a spacious terrace, a great spot for getting together pre or post lunch or dinner.

Could do with an update, the fixtures and fittings look a bit tired.

Obviously quiet now, but hopefully back to the wonderful location it has been very soon.

One star literally because that is as low as the ratings will allow me to go. I would like the hotel to refund me. We walked into the hotel and instantly had to leave. The rooms were not as advertised, there was a mouldy smell through the whole hotel. The management did try to accommodate our shock at the room by offering alternative ones but they showed us rooms with awful bathrooms, cobwebs in every corner, stains on the wall. When it came to refunding there was no empathy whatsoever. Their lack of emotion shown when we said we had to leave I found disgusting, there was no way we could attend our spa treatments in such an establishment.

The whole place needs to be closed for a day and deep cleaned. Shower room is filthy, pool area and pool itself is dirty (every tile above the water line in the pool has "wash me" written in the grime, which took considerable effort for someone to do!). At Afternoon Tea the table was very dirty, had to ask for everything, cutlery, plates, spoons, sugar etc. The one plus was the massage therapist was very good. Unfortunately I would most definitely not recommend visiting Fredrick's

I did enjoy my stay here but there are a few things that need to improve for it to become a high end hotel. It needs a lot of tlc, lights hanging out of the room ceiling, same in the spa. Spa pool was freezing cold. Carpets and paint work etc needs attention. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you won't enjoy your stay here with these issues but it does need attention. The staff are all friendly and helpful, full marks there. Can't fault them.

1980s Dallas meets traces of deco in 20th century Maidenhead... As you pass through the lobby with its high ceilings and marble it feels rather grand. A time warp to somewhere, possibly even a parallel universe. Many things around the hotel, from light fittings, drain down pipes to the fountain in reception and the various sculptures placed both inside and out are quite unique. Either to your taste or not, what they do is make Frederick s feel special. A 'Love Boat' a few moments outside the centre of Maidenhead. This carried on when we got to the corridor our bedroom was off; like a corridor on a ship with cabins off it! We thought the hotel would make a great venue for a murder mystery weekend.

We were on a dinner, bed, breakfast and use of spa offer for one night on Easter Sunday through Easter Monday. First, we were blessed with wonderful late April weather. We arrived, parked very easily right next to the hotel, checked-in (were upgraded from classic to executive double, thank you) dumped our bags in the room and put on the complimentary robes and slippers.

We then hit the spa for a swim, use of the hydrotherapy spouts, sauna, and rainforest and polar shower. Then it was on to resting on the comfiest spa day bed I ve used and reading books and magazines, taking advantage of the running teas, coffee and water and watching the worked go by. A few wines were available, and we had a rather good glass of Rose towards the end of the afternoon.

After a rest and tidy up we headed for the bar for a drink before our evening meal. The cocktails may seem expensive until you watch them being made and see just how much alcohol goes in! After sipping these for quite some time me made our may for the three course dinner.

A good menu, just enough choices and you felt everything was freshly prepared, there were meat, fish and vegetarian options. There was no cheese option under puddings, and when asked they were able to provide this, thank you. The wine list is fairly extensive and it is well worth asking for the waiter's recommendation, they suggested a Chilean Malbec to go with the lamb, which was just perfect. For starters we had the cauliflower and garlic soup and ham terrine. Portion sizes were ample as the food was rich; if you like stocking up on your carbs the bread roll crown was generous. All, in all, a good meal. The only negative was waiting just too long for our starter to arrive we munched through the bread crown after that everything followed to a good pace.

Breakfast was OK with a range of cereals, fruit, yogurts, juices and standard cooked breakfast items in the bain-marie. In addition, fresh eggs were provided to order.

Why five stars when everything was not perfect or shiny and new? We had a very relaxing stay, in a four star hotel that offered excellent value and warm and friendly service.

If this was helpful, please do 'Like' it!

Booked afternoon tea for a dear friend's birthday. So
very disappointed. The bread was stale. The cakes were stale too and the , scones or rock cakes, were so overcooked they were rock hard and extremely dry. It seems they re heat them from frozen, as a fellow dinner, after returning the first batch of scones, cut into one and it was frozen solid. The waiter had zero charisma and when we complained about the standard of the food was not bothered at all and offered no apology or resolution. Also we requested certain dietary requirements prior to our arrival which were not met and when this was pointed out,The waiter said it is all pre-made and couldn't be changed! Very very poor standard all round and would rather have gone to a chain outlet where at least the food is fresh. So disappointed with a once reputable hotel.

Lovely little hotel. Lovely spa with an indoor outdoor pool. Steam room and sauna. The food was delicious though the restaurant could do with another CD, same songs on repeat over dinner and breakfast.
