I have eaten here many times with associates, family members, and dear friends. Neither I nor my guests have ever been disappointed. The meals and service are always exemplary. Frankie Rowland's is a downtown Roanoke destination for good reason.

Best service in the entire valley! My Kansas City was perfect, excellent char and doneness. A little salty, but might just be me. AuGratin was perfect, Creamed Spinach lacked depth blan. The biggest complaint is that we were on a tight schedule and requested a 6:30PM reservation. We sat in the secondary dining room with only 2 other parties until 7:15PM, but were told we could only make a 5:45PM reservation? We felt gamed in order for them to seem busier than they were. Stand firm on your time request! It was our anniversary.

My husband and I celebrated our 12th year anniversary here. It was our first time eating here, it was a little costly but you do get big sizes of your side order that your able to share. We will come again on another special occasion. Also the waitess.were great! and the pineapple martini was Fantastic! My salmon was cooked just right and I loved the pecan sauce that went with it my husband said his steak was tender and Fantastic.

Hate this restaurant. Went there with my wife on Saturday 8/22. Hostess said we'd have to sit in their patio / garden because so many reservations were going to come in in the next hour. My wife and i walked thru a near empty restaurant to the patio/garden area.....which was really dumpy, hot and humid. We said no...and ended up sitting in the bar area for dinner. My wife's salad was a disappointment.... iceberg .... cherry tomatoes just a bit of grated cheddar on top. The rib eye i had was tough and fatty. The prime rib my wife had was tough and mediocre. HERE COMES THE BEST PART. By the time we were done with our meal to leave the restaurant there were still 12 empty tables left. So the fiasco the hostess put us thru was BOGUS! Got that....BOGUS! This place is overpriced, and very mediocre. DO NOT EAT IN THIS DUMP!

The service was outstanding the martinis were also very creative and very good. The food was mediocre. I had been referred by some friends and the hype didn't match up with the food. My steak was cooked more as medium vs what I ordered, medium rare. To be fair, one end was more medium rare and the other end was more medium. The remainder of the food was fine, but nothing I would expect to pay higher prices for. I've had steaks that melt in your mouth - this was no where near that level of quality.

Would I go again, yes. If I received the same level of steak quality though, I wouldn't return. The atmosphere is loud, so don't plan on a romantic date night since it was difficult to hear. But the restaurant was "alive".

Unprofessional. I reserved a table at 8:30, didnot get greeted when i came in. So I sat and wait until my time, thinking my table will be ready, but i was being ignored. 15 minutes later i came and ask what is my wait time was, the receptionist told me she dont really know. I was speechless, what was the point of reserve the table if you dont get it in time, and they dont really know when they can serve you?

Nice dining option in the downtown area. Both steaks were very good and cooked the way we wanted them. Surprisingly good selection of wines and they are priced right. We didn't care much for deserts, it was too sweet and messy. Our waiter was slightly anxious and was asking us the same questions several times over. Also, it was a bit noisy.

The waitress was great. The kitchen was extremely slow. They brought my husband the wrong steak. The atmosphere was like being in a riot - so loud you could barely hear our dinner companions or the waitress. Miserable experience. I would rate them lower except the food was tasty. AND it was Restaurant Week.

Excellent and promt service. Great food with very large portions. One side is enough for two. The ribeye is the best steak I ve ever had. Well worth the price. Appropriate dress is required. Would eat again.

We chose to spend Thanksgiving at Frankie Rowland's this year. It was a disappointing experience! A restaurant that charges these prices should not serve pressed turkey, canned green beans, and unseasoned, half-steamed broccoli. A restaurant hopes to build and maintain a brand that attracts new customers and pleases the existing ones. Can't understand why Frankie Rowland's would tarnish their reputation by serving a processed, poorly prepared holiday meal. Hope you will rethink what you serve customers on Thanksgiving day. Based on this experience, I won't be back.

The surroundings are elegantly handled, the service is top notch. Comfy seats, mostly good art except for a repellent expressionist monster dominating the back wall.

And a really mediocre steak.

Great sides, friendly people, even the weight of the silverware was good.

And a really mediocre steak.

I was disappointed because I had been told how great the steaks are. I would give it a second chance but it is priced well out of my normal range, I was taken as a guest.

Frankie Rowland's was my choice to entertain my adult children; in for Thanksgiving Weekend. We came one evening after home cooking by Mom on
Turkey Day. It was a delightful night together ; "To each his own" from a
large menu. The atmosphere was
perfect for a full large table. As hostess,
I was very pleased and ..... proud of myself
for a memorable family time.

Went christmas Eve. Steak was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. Asked for medium. The rice was under cooked in the ressoto. The ahi tuna was good and the Brussels were good. Spent $300 on a very unsatisfying medi-oker meal. Not worth trying again.

Was disappointed in food quality, taste, texture and temperature. Steak was medicore at best, baked potatoe was cold and even after we sent it back, the replacement was no better. Lobster was good but very small portion. Very pricey meal and not worth it. It was our first experience and probably our last.

Visited for anniversary. Had the 10oz filet. Easily the best filet I have ever had and I have eaten steak in some if the best resturants all over the country. To say the meat melted in my mouth is an understatement. Sides and dessert (molten cake) were equally excellent . Dinner for 2 was over $100, but worth every penny.

We went here for the first time to eat yesterday for my birthday. The food and service were both incredible. Definitely unmatched in Roanoke. I had the best steak I have ever eaten in my entire life. This place is a Roanoke treasure for sure!

Such a wonderful meal and service. Hard to believe this high end steak house is sitting on a corner in downtown Roanoke. We had one hiccup where the wrong side item was sent to the table. They left the incorrect side, prepared the right one and then comped it anyway. Totally unexpected. We will be back often.

The staff were super fantastic and kind. The food was delicious. I m not giving 5 stars because of my meal in particular. I ordered a steak medium plus and it came out more medium rare. The waiter noticed and told me if it wasn t okay to let him know and I could send it back. I didn t because we d waited over an hour for our meal to be served. The server was very apologetic and gave us a free side which was super nice and not necessary, though if that was their way to make up for the wait I wish we d have been given an option for which side! My boyfriend and I do not like creamed spinach but it was a very sweet gesture. Overall I d definitely go back. It just is unfortunate to spend that much and wait that long and not be totally in love with the meal.

The food is a 10. Best steak I've had in a long time. The service: however, was awkward. The restaurant seems to have an identity crisis. The ambiance is that of a casual italian restaurant. The service is too stuffy. The spiel at the beginning of our order was too long winded. The over abundance of water filling, table combing and constant checking in seemed out of place, but mostly because the wait staff would gather behind us, talking, laughing and dancing to the music. It was strange to feel as though we were expected to behave a certain way, but the wait staff would instantly break "proper" character the minute they walked away. We would have had a much better time if the wait staff were more relaxed the entire time.

Do yourself a favor and reserve a table and ask for Alex as a main server. I will follow Alex's food and wine recommendations as if he were Moses himself leading me through the desert. Let's start with our favorite app, the Oysters Rockafeller. Who would've thought that the BEST oysters I'd ever had were in a little mountain valley town like Roanoke? Having grown up by the ocean, I never thought you could get decent seafood so far inland. Clearly Frankie Rowlands spares no expense for quality food. Now the steak, OH THE STEAK. Let me tell you, this isn't beef. No, I'm 100% sure that this is magical unicorn fillet, responsibly raised in Narnia itself. It is cooked so perfectly it melts like butter in your mouth hole. It is as tender as a freshly skinned angel. The knife is basically for show, you won't need it. Now the sides, we are partial to the cavatopi, and brussel sprouts. Mind you, I HATE brussel sprouts. They are the devil's bunions as far as I'm concerned. But not these little beauties, oh no. So savory and sweet with their balsalmic goodness, it makes me question what else I've been wrong about in my life. Lastly, the dessert; I can only speak to the bread pudding, and chocolate lava cake. The best way I could describe both of these would be like, if Christmas itself (or whatever your favorite holiday/time of year is) hugged you from the inside and told you all your dreams are going to come true. Do not come through roanoke without eating here, it's 100% worth it. This place is the complete package when compared to places like Capital Grille in DC, or Ruth's Chris. Happy eating!
