I love this place! A preview of the Holy Land. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. The staff, volunteers and capuccinos are ever so sweet. At the gift shop, every item is UNDER priced! So make sure you get your hands on as many beautiful items as you can to bring back home. Bathrooms are spotless. There is a coy pond, mosaic art, la Via Dolorosa, a cave replica of where Our Lady of Lourdes appeared, among other beautiful statues and buildings in the gardens. With 45 acres of land you know the children will have a great time running around. The Magnolia trees are majestic.
There are two 1st grade relics in their catacombs: St. Benign (beheaded, martyr) and St. Innocent (stabbed, martyr) so bring down those rosaries and medals you just got, touch them to the relics with great faith and your item not only becomes blessed, but a THIRD GRADE RELIC BY CONTACT WITH 1ST GRADE RELIC. Mamy miracles happen when you use these 3rd grade relics to pray.
It is located only 10 minutes away from the Imaculate Conception Basilica and Theology College. 20 minutes away from the Washington Memorial and White House, etc. 20 minutes away from the Bible Museum. So if you go to DC to see these places, do stop by the Monastery!
When you come to visit, please do not bring any water bottles, drinks, food, snacks. These are not allowed. The Franciscans fast lots and there are NO TRASH CANS AVAILABLE in the Monastery or out in the gardens.
