I played 9/4/20.. I was so looking forward to playing this course as I have heard so much about it. Much to my displeasure the course was in horrible condition. I was told that their irrigation system was damaged in the storm a little while back. They have basically lost the fairways and greens. However they have no problem charging top dollar. They should #1 have some information on their website warning players about the condition of the course and #2 drop their rates until this course gets into better condition. I was really bummed out.

Played Fox Hopyard 10/18/20. Played there many times before year after year. This is a first for me and my friends. When we were out there, carts would lock up on fairway. Couldn t drive on any fairway for that matter. We never Were told about that. Secondly, while driving on some of the paths, it said we were on the fairway too. Crazy. So Cart locks up. The actual cart paths!

The biggest issue we had was that they had a caravan of golf carts going thru each hole and having like appetizers for these people while we played our round. I m guessing 15 to 20 carts of people. They drove on the cart path and sat there in front of each tee box for 15-20minutes a time. We got caught up with them for 3 different holes. So you pay to play at nice course and you have to deal with people talking and in your way? That s Crazy and rude. After only playing the front 9, pro shop is closed and no one to complain too. I called in today and they said they would give us a $20 credit. Not good Customer service.

I was a fan of Fox Hopyard. Not any more. They don t know how to treat there customers.

Response from owner not acceptable.

Fox Hopyard was a beautiful course with a challenging layout. Definitely a remote destination but worth the drive (especially in the fall). This course is not for beginners however, many of the holes require longer carry even for women and senior tees.

Wish it was as good as I had remembered. One of my favorite courses in CT but as a few recent reviews note, the course is in horrible shape. Insult to injury was not just the high price, but no ranger to move along groups later in the day on a Friday. We could see by the time we got to the 16, there was a full hole empty in front of a group 3 in front of us. Will try again next year, but will call first to make sure they are taking care of the course. Would have given 1 star, but staff was nice and I do love the practice area.

Played again a few days ago. Course is definitely being worked on. The fee was also reduced which was appreciated. Thanks for addressing my concerns and will keep supporting you. When in good shape, it s the best around.

Fox Hopyard is one of my favorite courses in the area. I'd love to give it five stars because the course and restaurant are typically top notch... but I just played today and the course is not looking so good. Greens and fairways are not in good shape. It's not like we're in a drought. Most other courses are able to maintain fairly decent conditions at this time of year. I'm not sure what's currently going on, but it has definitely degraded in course quality.

Great course, service, and amenities. I had a booking issue on my end where I accidentally scheduled to play the day before I had meant to play. The staff in the shop couldn't have been more accomadating with the issue, and the rest of the staff were great throughout the day.

This is a great course. I've now played a handful of times. The course is challenging but fair, and has a lot of character with some really fun and unique green complexes. The course was well-maintained, and the amenities like the range and putting green are very solid. I highly recommend.

The Safari Club of Golf had its inaugural adventure to Fox Hopyard on September 4. With well over one-hundred of our members in attendance we can all rate the experience right up there with the best!

Unfortunately, the greens had recently been punched, but management made us aware of that fact going into the event. But we had that one date available and decided to proceed anyway. Maybe one of the best decisions we made in a long time. Heck, anyone with even a modicum of golf sense realizes punching greens is one of those necessary evils that all courses face this time of year.

However, just the layout and facilities themselves leave one in awe of this place. Panoramic views abound all while playing 18 spectacular holes of golf that consist of many traditional New England style holes, coupled with some European links style holes to boot. You kind of get a two-fer when playing this spectacular golf course.

Many of our members already expressed their desire in having Fox Hopyard included on our regular Safari Club Adventures for next season. That kind of sums things up pretty well.
