Foundation for Student Housing in the Helsinki Region (HOAS) Reviews

Other than one or two customer service agents, I have liked the customer service here. Can be a little frustrating wait at times but that is understandable.

Apartments in HOAS Rautatiekatu 29. Laundry rooms are disgusting, washing machines and dryers are probably cleaned not more than once a year, but keeping in mind how many people use them this is just a no-go. The furnishings inside the apartments seem to be very old, especially the beds and the mattresses, if I should even call it a mattress, are horrible. The walls look like they haven't been painted for many many years. Good thing about the apartments here: The location and the price is okay for Helsinki.

Very bad and slow service, i had a living rat crawling in the walls and eating from my trash, i called about this problem and they took a month to come and do something about it, but the only thing they did was close a hole the rat could come out of and the rat is still in the walls, i wouldnt be surprised if soon there will be many holes in the wall and a dead rat smell, moved out after this

You pay a deposit and they tell you they will give it back to you within a month after your contract expire BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE.

While i was in the Appartment everything with fine and it was very easy to communicate with them. Once i left and asked them for the deposit they started acting rude.

You send a message to the customer service expecting an answer then they reply to you with contact the financial department not us then you contact the financial department and they say contact the maintenance department not us

THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. it feels like they re not even working together at all. i feelt like I m talking to a 3 different businesses that have nothing in common with them but the name HOAS.

I don t recommend it to any of the exchange student... Check Unihome or find your own place by yourself.

Never rent a shared flat without knowing your flatmates!!! I rented a 3bedroom flat (supposedly for 3 persons) and there ended up living 5 people and after following the situation for 2 months and announced it, no one cared about it. As long as they get the money, they won't do anything about it.
Also be aware that they want every penny from you! Never accept a fixed-term lease because they won't have any sympathy towards your housing situation if by the next month you are on the street.

If I could give 0 I would... thieving organisation!!!!!!!! No empathy whatsoever! Adding charges for no reason! Stains on the bed and they wouldn t change it. The room had hair and dirt all over the place.

Worse service you can just imagine!
Nobody in this company cares of apartment conditions.
On the pictures you can see cleaned apartment ready for moving in according to HOAS.

The staff here is super nice. Very charming and helpful. Had a great experience.

Not cheap, nor clean. Very loud if you have a room on the street side.

This company charged me for not cleaning my room even in the first inspection, they said everything is fine. I sent an email to ask them for any evidence of the cleaning they did and they just said they do not require the cleaning company to take pictures before and after the cleaning. Even if I don't agree with the charge, they just get money from my deposit without further explanation. This happens to many students and somehow HOAS just does not improve at all. Stop getting the money from students like that!
