A fun drive-through zoo that your kids are bound to love! You will find many different types of gazelles and other hoofed type of animals. You will also drive by giraffes, and also a cage of cheetahs. Well worth the trip, you cannot go wrong with putting this on your to do list.

Fantastic way to spend the day. Drive through wildlife centers lets kids get up close to several different species from the comfort of your vehicle. Take it slow so you don't miss anything!

The Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is a great place to spend the afternoon enjoying the animal kingdom and food with the family. And yes, they have a gift shop too.

Admission is a bit pricey at around 20 bucks a person but the buildings and grounds are pretty well kept and there are a good number of animals to feed and enjoy. The staff was reasonably friendly during my limited interactions with them.

The rules of the park state that you cannot hand feed anything except for the giraffes, but many people take the safety of their fingers into their own hands. I too flaunted my phalanges in the face of fate and regretted it only once. Those ostriches are no joke, dispute what every cartoon you've ever seen says to the contrary. The rest of the animals where pretty friendly, if not eager to be petted like a giant horned labrador. The rams and giraffes were particularly impressive.

All in all a great way to spend three hours.

We purchased a membership after visiting just once. We love coming here and the kids really enjoy it as well. A trip during non-peak hours is 2-2.5 hours. There is always something to see and enjoy. About half way through there's a stop with shops, food, and a children's camp. As a tip, pack snacks in the car for kids as you may get stuck in a queue to see something for a while.

I love this park! Driving your own vehicle through you can stop and visit the animals as long as you want before moving on to see others. Kids and adults alike will enjoy getting to interact with wild animals. We have been a couple of times now and each experience is different. We have never had an animal hurt our vehicle, but we have had some deer and ostrich heads inside the car. I highly recommend a visit!

We had to take our vacation over my son's 8th birthday which meant he would be away from family and friends to help him celebrate. I saw where Fossil Rim did birthday parties but you had to have at least 8 kids so a couple days in advance I went in and talked to Donna and asked if there was any small way we could recognize him on his birthday when we arrived....now I was thinking just a Happy Birthday from the staff members or a small trinket from the gift shop with their name on it and I even told her I would pay for whatever it was just so it was special. Well....she and Sharkey went way beyond my expectations and made my son feel so special on his birthday!!!! Everyone there was so nice and helpful and you can tell that conservation of the animals is a number one priority. My kids loved the drive through the park and we were able to see a lot of animals! Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

What a cool place and adventure to take with your family. We really enjoyed our trip and feeding the animals. My kids' excitement was contagious. Our only wish was for more food as you can go through it pretty quickly. We will definitely be back.
My only suggestion... have staff at the front desk until the park closes. We wanted to purchase an annual pass but no one was there and the office was closed and hour and half before closing time.

We showed up around 2:30. Lines were so long. It was bumper to bumper. This was a last minute decision. There were too many cars. Animals were out. It had been 7 years since we had been there. The cost sure did increase a lot since our last visit. I m giving this 4 stars because of the bumper to bumper drive through experience and because the porta potties were so disgusting. Animals are taken care of and they look healthy. We had a good time looking at the animals though. My son enjoyed spotting some baby animals through his binoculars. The scenic views are pretty.

I would encourage anyone who cares about wild animals, endangered species, or preservation of natural habitats to visit, join, donate to this facility. It is sad to know that because of us (humans), some of these animals are critically endangered; Some no longer existing indigenous in the wild. What legacy do we want to leave for the future?

This is one of the many spots my family and I seem to end up every year. The kids are never disappointed. I have found that the best time to go is in the morning rather than the afternoon because the animals seem a little more active. Its hard to save the animal feed but it is worth trying because just beyond the half way rest stop their are always hungry giraffes that make the entire experience that much better.
Good place to take the kids for bonding and adventure.

Nice variety of wildlife. The deer and similar animals are about the only animals you can feed. The Giraffes don't really come near the vehicles, and the Lions are hidden behind bushes in their gated home which are really hard to see. Besides the animals there are great views of nature.

We love it here! We have the family membership and go about once a month. The rules are simple and easy to follow. It is a good 2 hour drive-through safari with a bathroom/ snack stop half way through.

My parents brought us here when I was a kid and now I finally got a chance to bring mine. Still just as much fun as I remember! Feeding a giant giraffe was by far the biggest hit. The food at the cafe was surprisingly really good too! Usually you don't expect places like this to have good quality food.

We took the guided tour and luckily it was only our family in the vehicle. Our guide was David Jusievoich. David is knowledgeable and friendly and he made the tour fun and interesting for us and for our young kids. We learned about the animals, fossil rim history and got to feed tbe animals, which was a nice and unforgettable experience.
I recommend to take the guided tour (with David if he's available). I think it is worth the price because you get so much comparing to drive your own car. You also get to drive on roads that private vehicles are not allowed.
It was one of our favorite things to do in our trip to Texas.
Thank you David for such an amazing tour!!

We went on a Saturday which was a big mistake. If you like sitting in traffic and watching people a mile in front of you feed and take pictures of animals this is the place. Our 4 year old was bored waiting in line to see the animals. You are in your own car but can't get around the cars in front of you. Might be better if people actually pulled to the side like the signs say. But they stop in the middle of the road and there you are, stuck waiting to move. If I was to return I may pay extra to do the tour in the safari van. They didn't seem to take the same roads and moved faster. You are not allowed on those roads though. Eventually we decided to turn down a do not turn road and cut the tour sorry. Took roughly 2 hours to go less than two miles. Saw the same 3 breeds of animals. The rhinos and cheetahs at the end were what we really went to see.

If you are planning on doing something as a family...

If you are planning on doing something as a family this is a great place to go.me and my wife really enjoyed the drive through Safari here.make sure that you have set aside enough time to go through the entire thing and come early enough in the day so that you can enjoy all of the animals coming late in the afternoon when me and my wife came there was not very many active animals that would come around your vehicle.it also would have been nice if they would have given at least two bags of food for the price that you paid as well as charging by the carload instead of each person which could get very expensive at the set pricing they have at the time of this review. The animals and the views from the different places as you drive are beautiful.the gift shop about Midway through has a lot of interesting and unique items available for purchase so take your time all the way through this ranch as well as the gift shop. Me and my wife will probably try to go here at an earlier time of day the next time we come visit I would probably say around noon or so it's probably the best time at the end of the day most of the animals have already been fed and first thing in the morning they probably have already been fed as well just my opinion . Thanks for reading my review... you will definitely enjoy yourself at this Safari.

This park has always been a delightful trip - even more so when we have first-timers in the car with us. The experience of seeing so many species up close and the opportunity to feed the deer and the birds is an unexpected pleasure. People of all ages have always loved this, the place is well-maintained, and an EXCEPTIONAL once-in-a-lifetime travel experience for many people visiting Dallas.

Can't enough describe how beautiful the park is and how lovely the animals are. Nature at it's best. We liked to be in the park for as long as we can. We prefer animals be in the open space than caged and homed. Worth every penny.

We visited this year as well. I will visit every year

This was a great experience with our family. Go kinda early to beat the morning croud as well as being able to feed them. Before we got there they had fed the animals. My daughter had a blast and loved the interactions. Be aware of the ostriches. They are hungry and can be agressive but it's a hilarious experience with them. Feed them things out the window if possible lol

Amazing place! Animals that walk freely and can come to your car or sightseeing bus, almost serpentine mountain roads, which offer amazing views. Right in the middle of the route there is a cozy cafe on the highest point, from the open terrace of which you can watch the animals below and from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the park. Next to the cafe is a playground and places for recreation. Rested, a snack? Continue your journey and enjoy communication with nature and its inhabitants.
And for lovers of various excursions, including night shooting and children's educational programs, there are group tours.
Just come as early as possible to quietly enjoy this park.

There isn t many animals when we visited the park. It was a very hot day and most of the animals were sitting far away under the shade. I think if the weather is good you can see good number of animals here. Overall it was a good experience. Note: Beware of the ostrich.

Awesome outdoor zoo with rhinos, giraffes, cheetahs, and many types of deer. You can feed the giraffes from your hand. And the deer too. Restaurant was quite tasty if not real quick with that food. Gift shop was forgettable with much of.the wares made in China. But you certainly don't have to buy anything there.

I feel more happy going here than a zoo ! I may call it a drive through zoo! Where you go and see the animals at their habitat. I felt the ticket cost was bit high -but it was okay because that money goes to these animals welfare ! My two and half year daughter she really loved this place, where she can see the animals so close and can feed them and the on top of that she don't have to sit in her car seat the moment we enter here !

Awesome, lots of animals and they sold food you can use to feed the animals from your car. This caused awesome chaos in our car when an elk decided he wanted more and stuck his while head in the car. The kids loved it.

We had a great time touring the center. The animals looked healthy and were quite cordial. The bag of food we were provided was a good size. Just know you need to ration the pellets so you can feed the animals through the entire center.

Great thing to do with family during this COVID time! The place was clean overall and got to see animals up close from the safety of our own vehicles. Not too much of a variety but def. didn t feel rushed at all by others behind you and enjoyed it with our family.

***porter potty s only! The ones at the beginning of the trip were really smelly and gross but the ones at the half way point were very clean! ***

BE FOREWARNED, THE ANIMALS AT THE BEGINNING ARE OP...

BE FOREWARNED, THE ANIMALS AT THE BEGINNING ARE OPPORTUNIST! The act all cute and come right up to the car begging for food, but there motives are sinister. The want you to drop all your food pellets on them and they don't care if the other animals starve. But seriously, ration your bag of pellets, you only get one per car. By the time we gat to the giraffes and zebras, we where out.

The park is a good distance from Fort Worth, but it is a nice drive. The biggest downside is that the only bathrooms are at the beginning and about 7/10ths of the way through and they are the portable type. Portable bathrooms in Texas, in the middle of summer, not a favorable experience. Also, are biggest disappointment was that the giraffes did not come anywhere near the road when we went through. It would be nice if you could go back, as we where coming back from the gift shop (the only two way road), we witnessed others feeding the giraffes.
