I haven't been here in about 7-8 years but I have one question...WHERE ARE THE ANIMALS??? 80% of the animals we saw were deer and antelope. We literally got tired of feeding just them. And the other 20% were just lying down not coming by the cars and the ones that were gated were just lying under the trees not moving so didn't get to see them in action. One giraffe allowed you to feed him and since its the only animal you are allowed to feed from your hand it backed the line up for a good 25 minutes because everyone was waiting their turn. Either situation was not the park's fault but makes for a dull day since the variety of animals have slimmed down considerably. Don't see me going back any time soon.

WASTE OF MONEY !!!

WASTE OF MONEY !!!
They dont have many animals to see, you are paying $25 per person to see Landscape, I wish someone would've told me before I went

This used to be a great place to go but it's not anymore. There are hardly any animals, it's $100 for 4 adults with a discount included. You get ONE half full bag of feed per group unless you want to purchase more. You get to see probably 1/4 of the animals advertised in their pamphlet, or less. The animals had wounds on them, and most were just covered in tons of flies. I would highly recommend going to any other drive-thru safari. This is as bad as Arbuckle Wilderness has become. It's not worth your time or money, especially if you're just making the drive out here to see it. You should try Cherokee Trace in Jacksonville instead, it's way cheaper, actually worth your money, full of animals, and you get a full bag of feed per person.

If you are an animal lover ,this place would be of interest to you. We can either take their open bus ride or drive in on your own vehicle. Not allowed to get out of the car inside other than in the designated area. It's around 7 miles and the drive is slow,so probably takes around 2 hours to complete the tour
Some of the animals are addax, giraffe, ostrich and emu.

The best drive through zoo within 2 hours of Dallas. The self guided drive takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. Our family visited on a Friday morning in early September. The weather was cooler than normal but the animals were all active. Due to the high number of visitors we were only allowed 1 cup of food for animals. We stretched out the treats and made sure we had some left for the giraffes. You will enjoy this unique experience regardless of age.

Without doubt an unforgettable experience. This being my second visit in three years I could make a comparison. In this last opportunity a large population of deer is noticed. These being the most seen animals and that dominate the territory. I know it's lucky so I'll be back. I truly recommend this great place

The reason this is getting a low rating is because of the entrance. I've been to other locations like this and they have a better way of getting cars in. This place you had to wait in line then move to another line and then park and get out to pay. They need to streamline this. Other places you just pay and enter and go. They did have plenty of giraffes and cheetahs. The gift shop was nice.

This place is fantastic! Even we visited it on a very rainy day, we totally enjoyed it. It was an awesome experience. I would definitely go back and I definitely recommend it for the whole family. It is suitable for all ages.

This is a nice place to visit if you want to explore the wildlife inside your vehicle. It has a variety of animals to choose from but it s extremely expensive. However,it makes up for the amazing tour that you will experience. Also you can feed the animals and use their car with an additional fee. Love all the animals that I saw,all different kinds to see!

It's ok.

It's ok.
Be sure to conserve your little food given (which is less than a quarter size) for $7.00
Limit one per car.
Should be less or even free, for kids 3 and under and not the same price as an 11yr-old

We have a season pass here now going on 3 years. It is well worth it for a few visits a year with the family. We live in fort worth and go to Fossil Rim and Glenrose. Usually for a fun daytrip to get out of town or even just for lunch and a quick trip around the park. With only less than an hour drive away it's a perfect staycation thing to do for cheap with the season passes. The kids love to feed the animals, pet them at the petting zoo, get an icecream at the overlook cafe, and browse around the very large gift shop. It's been very educational for the kids and every time we go there is usually something new in the children's animal center and the staff there does a great job at engaging the kids and teaching them about their new visitors. Today was the Salamander which I also learned is the same thing as a mud dog.

We love coming here. We go about twice a year. Lots of animals to see and feed. It s great to be able to get out at the half way mark and let little ones stretch their legs and move and have a bathroom break. Cute gift shop.

We absolutely loved this place. Our kids had so much fun they didn't want to leave. We did the self guided tour 2x during our overnight stay and spent a out 2 hours each visit. Beautiful and peaceful is the best way to describe the tour. This is a must do and must see. Great for all ages.

We bought the behind the scenes tour and we loved it. Our tour guide was very informative and we got to see a lot of animals that are endangered and/or extinct in the wild. We also had lots of fun feeding the animals. We will definitely be back here!

What an amazing experience! We did the paid tour in the open safari truck and it was well worth the cost. We went into unpaved areas which got us closer to the animals. A tremendous outing for all ages. We will do this again!

I would highly recommend the guided tour, it can be about twice as much compared to driving yourself. However, the information provided during the tour and not having to worry about driving is soooooo worth it. The vehicles they use are very nice and open to the air and was spacious enough to bounce back and forth from side to side.
Our driver was David (DJ) and he was super nice, informative and passionate about what he does. It was so worth the money

We had a blast taking the guided tour through the park! Was fun to feed the animals and learn about their personalities and how they are taken cared of.

I would highly recommend this lovely place!

Beautiful scenic views, not much to see as far as wildlife.
Definitely see more at the Fort Worth Zoo.
Appreciate the conservation efforts though.
Do plan to be in periodic traffic jams due to an occasional inconsiderate visitors who dont move over for passers.

This place is a cool day out for kids. My 5 yrs old is all about animals and dinosaurs, so we planned to take him for this safari / ride. This wildlife covers a large area and you can easily take 2 /3 hours to cover this. You get to see quite a few species here like Dears, Addax, Aoudad, Arabian Oryx, Bison, Blackbuck, Gazelle, Ostrich, Giraffe, Zebra, Rhinoceros and some Cheeta too and few others. The safari offers some nice view points / scenic spots. Entry fee is very nominal and quite reasonable for the place. It will be a good idea to go early in the morning to encounter more animals as they get in to shade as the day becomes hot. It is recommended place for kids.

It's an enjoyable place to visit. The wildlife "safari" drive is fun. You can buy food for the critters there. I would say it would be an exceptional experience for the 5-10 year old crowd.

I was so excited about taking my parents who we had not seen in 2yrs to this place. They had never been to or heard about anything like this before. I had been years before when they had recently added the giraffe's but we didn't get to see them bc there had recently been a lot of rain so they were put up. The price of everything was so expensive. It was also about a 2hr drive. I had called the day before and asked if the giraffe's would be out and I was told yes. We get there and I ask again and I was told yes we would have full access to them. I also had asked about doing the tour on the tour trucks/busses and was told they wouldn't have any available for another 2hrs. Well we couldn't wait that long I have a small child with me. So we went ahead in our car. We were given a tiny bag with a small handful of food not even enough for everyone in our car to feed an animal. On the way to the restaurant/ store we saw maybe 2 animals donkeys and deers. At the store we were talking w the guy and were telling him how upset we were over the animals not being out and it seemed as if most of the roads had redirected us out and away from a lot of areas. I asked again about the giraffe' s and he said oh yes when you leave here you can take this road that goes right up by their enclosures and will be able to feed them. So we left and again all the roads were mostly blocked off taking you out away from them. But then we seen this tour bus that had been behind us (so much for their 2hr wait!!!) Which had upset us knowing we could have been on it! And it took this road that had been closed off right up next to their enclosure so I thought ok I will follow them. I get behind them and then another tour truck comes in behind me the one in front of me gets on a bull horn and starts yelling at me to leave very rude like and it was completely embarrassing as I start to try and back up the 2nd truck also gets on a bull horn and is even ruder literally screaming at us that we didn't belong and that area was only for tour trucks and we would need to pay for it! As we were leaving we saw everyone on both tour buses each hand a bag full of food and as much as they had in a bag you knew it was a lot more then the wimpy bag we were given. As we were finishing our drive thru we still had not seen but a total of 4 types of animals. We had also seen another car having more then 1 bag. As we got back to the front I went in and tried to talk with them about what had happened and we were told to call the main number. So I did and it was a week later someone finally returned my call but I had missed it. I called 4 more times and have never been able to speak to anyone about this! I'm writing the review today although our visit was in April bc my son wanted to go feed the animals but I will not ever go back to this place! My father unexpectedly passed away 1mo after this and it saddens me even more to have been left with this nightmare of a wasted trip to Fossil Rim with him.

This place was so amazing! I really liked this place as you get to see so many animals and most of all a Giraffe! You can feed the Giraffe with your hand but only the Giraffe nothing else. But you can still throw food at the other animals. The only thing is that you only get 1 cup of animal food per car which I think is too less compared to other safaris.

Amazing experience. Wife and I did the cabins by the watering hole, breakfast was awesome;the subsequent morning we did the 8:30 to 12 tour. Wow. Definitely recommend. The guide was enthusiastic and heck of knowledgeable!!! It was the best. Definitely recommend!!!

These people care about the animals and it shows! The place is not a business, it's all about the animals!!! I highly suggest tour guides, you go on special paths and learn a lot more. Our tour guide Jack as awesome!!!

The kids love this place and it is wonderful, especially feeding the giraffes. But it is expensive and they give you a little bitty bag of food which won't last you long if you put out more than a piece per animal. But feeding the giraffes almost make up for it, as they stick their heads in our sunroof. So amazing and fun

What an experience! We did the behind the scenes tour which is a bit pricey, but well worth it. We drove 2 hours just to get here, so the last thing we wanted to do was sit in our car for another 2-3 hours. Taking your own car will save you some money, but in the end it was all about the experience for us. We took the 1pm tour with Rick who was great and answered every question. It allows you to see some of the intensive animal areas such as cheetahs & wolves. Very, very cool! Although my personal favorite has to be feeding the giraffes. So amazing! Thank you, Fossil Rim!! My family & I made a memory we will never forget.

This place is a wonderful place to go for a day trip! The animals are very friendly and sweet, they come up to your car and you can feed them. Their trails are very clean and well kept.

This one of the hardest reviews i ve had to write. Experience with family today was ok at best. We brought our kids years ago...today we brought our 4 and 6 year old granddaughters. You are informed as you go through gate not to stop vehicles and to only feed giraffes by hand. We didn t get 100 yards through the gate and people forgot directions or sat in the middle of the road like it was their own personal safari. After leaving the half way point we had at least 50 cars in back of us as we passed the giraffe area and some dude stops in the middle of the road so he and his kids can hand feed deer while everyone else waited on him and friends in 2nd vehicle. RECOMMENDATION: If you don t have the patience to wait on people who don t know how to follow directions or you want to make sure you get in & out within a certain time go near the end of the day or possibly early morning. My wife and I will try another time possibly during slow time.

We took the guided tour for $45 a person which went to different areas that were not available to the rest of the public. But normally the prices around $19 to $22 per person if just driving through in a car. The tour guide's name was Jack and he was very knowledgeable and it was clear he loved what he did and was very passionate about the animals and conservation and he was very informative. We got to see a lot of animals but it was mostly different types of deer. The giraffe sticking his head into the jeep was really cool. It's a good experience to do at least once but my four-year-old did get a little antsy after the couple hour ride. We did stop off at the cafe and petting zoo mid-way through and they enjoyed petting a couple of the goats.

We have been to Fossil Rim many times. I would recommend going in the spring, fall or winter since it is cooler and the animals will be more active. We went the weekend of July 4th and it was about 100 degrees outside. The animals weren't as active as they had been on trips during other times of the year, but the giraffes still loved to eat out of our sunroof. We will definitely be back.

We love Fossil Rim and their best Tour guide, Kalee! My boyfriend took me last March for my birthday for a guided tour. We returned again last week to stay overnight at the Foothills Camp and enjoy a Behind the Scenes Tour. We were so happy to have Kalee as our tour guide for a second time! She is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, professional and welcoming. We highly recommend staying at the Foothills Camp. The animals were very active around the watering hole as dusk settled in. Once it was dark, we enjoyed the wolves howling and star gazing. We even saw a couple shooting stars and a faint outline of the Milky Way.

I absolutely love this place! Great place to get your nature fix. It is about a 3 hour ride through the park in either your car or one of the safari vehicles. You are not allowed out of your vehicle except at the half way point, for obvious safety reasons. The half way point has a gift shop, dining establishment and a petting zoo. It is best to get here first thing in the morning when the animals are waking and the crowds are not bad yet.

Very fun and entertaining family day. Get online early as the animals tend to be a bit more lively in the early hours. All animals were very active and out and about. Staff was very nice at the rest stop at the top of the hill. We will defenetly be back with friends on our next trip out.

This place is awesome. It takes a couple of hours to drive through, but you get to feed a lot of animals. On a cool morning the zebras will come down from the shade. And the giraffes are a blast to feed

This zoo didn t have much to offer in my opinion. It was A LOT of horned animals many of which looked the same except different shaped horns. The cheetahs just laid there, they had rhinos in their pamphlet which I didn t see any rhinos. The giraffes were the coolest part but there were so many stopped cars trying to see them we didn t get to interact with them much. This is quite the drive for my family and while my 2 year old daughter had a blast I felt there wasn t enough variety to be entertained as an adult. During covid I can appreciate that we can stay in our bubble and not have to walk around like a traditional zoo, but the animals were somewhat disappointing. It was a nice day trip, something fun for the family, but not something I would frequent.
