Over the holiday we went through one of the worst experiences in the world as a family. Death. Some would say that the death of the child is the worse; however this was not the case. Although, I have been through that as well. This was the 2nd worse. A father. The female crew worker seemed delighted to tell me that he died. She called the next of kin (as I was to distraught, and hurt. After she left a voicemail, she replied "we normally don't leave voicemails". I reminded her that "You just did". This had me question her capacity to perform, and her professionalism to deal with culture, and custom of family. The team did not dispose properly of the hazardous material left. In fact, ALL of the debris used in his recovery was left in the floor. Things were broken as well. In addition; there were small children in the home under 5. They even left the materials in the mouth of the deceased for next of kin viewing. They did have the decency to cover his body with a mattress cover that was in the room. Other than that and the professionalism of the police department, this division SHOULD have been a lot better. A member of the team asked to hold my newborn. We were in a totally different dimension dealing with a crisis, and more appropriate safety measures should have come into play. No one offered to clean up the debris. I guess I will keep the material as a keepsake since they did not dispose of it properly. I think more training and diversity should be practiced seriously. Almost ridiculous to think about, these are common practices among ANY families.
Charged me $540 to drive me 0.9 miles and put an IV in my arm. I'll never ride in their ambulance again. If I can't get to the hospital by car its not happening!
If I could give zero stars, I would. The EMT told us we were wasting their time and that we didn t know what allergic reactions are. He refused to give an IV, to let the hospital know they were coming, and questioned why we used an epipen. More
