I have mixed feelings regarding Forest Park Medical Center. As far as the actual service provided by the medical staff, it was exceptional. The biggest negative was in billing. When I went in for surgery, I was given an "estimate" of the cost of the surgery and requested to pay $1500 deposit. After I received by EOB from Blue Cross Blue Shield, I should only have had to pay $396.00. The estimate was extremely inflated, and I was overcharged $1100.00. I have been attempting to get a refund on the overcharges for more than a month, and I was told today, if I get one at all, it could take an additional 4-6 weeks. I will likely have to hire an attorney at even more costs and go to small claims court to get my money back.
Lesson learned, get an written estimate from your Insurance carrier before going to the hospital and only pay a percentage of what your Insurance carrier says you will owe.

Nice BUT needs improvement... Ok, here's the deal... FPCM is one of the nicest medical centers I've been in, the reception / waiting area is super nice, new, and clean, and the rooms (inpatient at least) are definitely impressive... BUT 3 things that really REALLY bothered me.. Bothered me enough to write this post. 1) The Staff: the receptionists are extremely defensive, and seem annoyed to be there. The RNs need to work on their bedside manner and ACTUALLY LISTEN to the patient and not just respond with text book quotes of how the patient is supposed to feel, and definitely could be a little more friendly. The TECHS have all been super nice, and are the only people that balance out how the rest of the staff makes you feel. Even the CAFETERIA staff were extremely rude and acted like we were inconveniencing them. 2) The Cafeteria Hours: RIDICULOUS. Closed more often than open. And dinner is 5 to 6pm. One hour.. Really?!? Last but not least, 3) The WIFI: if you have a Mac, don't expect to be able to connect EVER... Your iphone will connect, but not laptop.. According to the defensive receptionist, the problem is MY COMPUTER. And there is no solution, sorry about ya. That is so unacceptable, you clearly have a problem with macs and your server, and have received multiple complaints / issues about it, SO FIX IT. Overall, if you are a guest of a patient, the experience kinda blows.

I will never use the emergency care facility again...

I will never use the emergency care facility again! I took my sister in for a gash on her head. The staff was attentive and pleasant as was the doctor; however, the doctor's hands were visibly shaking. It was disconcerting to watch him stitch up the wound. A stitch was missed so one end is open and there will be a visible scar requiring additional surgery to correct.

The hospital and staff are great.

But, try getting a refund for overpayment on your account. It is like Fort Knox, it has been 6 weeks and still no refund.

This process definitely needs some improvement.

Hospital was great however billing was an issue. I prepaid the $925 estimated cost and discovered a few months post surgery that the estimate was off and I actually owed $1,651. When I asked for a review and a copy of the EOB, they indicated that they would send to corporate for a review. I did not hear from anyone for nearly 7 months then I began to get calls and letters demanding payment with no explanation or review that was promised.
