I rented from Flying Dog for almost 5 years. Renting from them is a hit or miss. Flying Dog's weakness is their run down apartments. If you rent a unit that has had recent repairs ( I said repairs not remodeling) and nothing breaks down in your apartment they are a good property management to rent from. You wont need to bother them with maintenance request and they wont need to bother you. STRICTLY BUSINESS!!!

EVERYTHING IS ALL GOOD UNTIL THE APARTMENT STARTS FALLING APART! If you just so happen to live in a unit or live long enough in a unit and it starts to fall apart due to normal wear and tear which makes you non responsible Flying Dog WILL COME AFTER YOU!

They will raise your rent and then kick you out. I've seen it done to other residents but I didn't fully understand until it happened to me. The damage was so bad from their vendors attempting to glue vinyl on my bathroom floor. It got to the point my bathroom wreaked of mildew and maintenance had to remove the toilet and sink. I was left without a bathroom for several days. The property manager and maintenance told me if I continued to complain something bad would happen. The next month we got a notice to vacate. By law after the first year the manager does not have to provide a reason for terminating tenancy. We paid our rent every month for almost 5 years and never had one complaint. I took it as a sign from God we needed to elevate and move to something bigger and better.

POSITIVE side of renting from them and which i'm thankful for is they gave us a chance when no one would rent to us due to our credit, being young and it being our first apartment. They gave me the opportunity to rent my first apartment. I met some great neighbors who I am still friends with. All of the property managers are nice.

Sal THE BIG BOSS is a good dude just don't get on his bad side. When I say bad side. I mean the side were he has the come out of pocket for a unit you're living in. Sal does not like to pay for stuff. If they can pin it on you they will. Always take picture and videos.

If you're looking for somewhere decent not too ghetto but also not high maintenance I would give them a try.

Oh Yeah and its good to know your laws / tenant rights. Knowledge is Power!

Awesome staff and places! 100% recommended. After having a hard time using lots of apps and facebook groups to find a place to live in San Diego, we found Flying Dog Enterprises. They have beautiful places, good prices and staff is very helpful and attentive. Definitely your best option.
