My Animates Pet store team of 10 and I had dinner and drinks, I'm very well travelled internationally and was amazed by how great the food was, the chef and their team made us feel so special..this is what customer service is about.
Every one enjoyed the meals and the deserts, and the wonderful cocktails made by one of the young ladies.
Service second to none, food absolutely fantastic. We will do it again.
Thank you for making our team bonding night so special.

Overall, not too bad a place to stay but it is so dated now and hasn't got much going. I feel if you were staying off season there is very little to do here. I also think it's slightly overpriced for what you get and again I think that's a tourist trap.

The staff were nice and friendly but some were quite young and dint really know much when asked questions.

Overall, I don't want to bag this place too much, it's a good place to stay if you are just looking for a pillow to put your head on!

I stayed at the Comfort Hotel, the reason I chose the hotel was due to the pool and fitness room..... I was disappointed to find that the hotel didn t have a gym (web site indicated it had) and the swimming pool hadn t been cleaned..... storm damage..... Not impressed won t be booking there again.....

We were on motorbikes really wet and from the first phone call to get a room was fantastic. The lady on the pphone went out of her way to get us a room. When we finally arrived she asked if we needed to put anything in the dryer she was amazing. We went and had a meal in the restaurant and the food and service was outstanding. Thank you for making a bad day into a good end to the day we will be back.

Older hotel but very good. New, clean toilets /showers. Lovely landscaping. Nice pool. Restaurant has tasty, fresh food.
Would happily stay here again.

Very friendly staff, great service and menu with good selection of dishes at reasonable prices. We had pork ribs and Mediterranean prawns on fettuccine. Both dishes were delicious and good portion sizes.

Nice and friendly staff. Place is very tidy and maintained. Wasn't wat I was expecting at all so pretty impressed. Happy with the bar snacks as well with my tequila lemonade lime bitters.

Our stay at the Comfort Flames Hotel at Onerahi - Whangarei was absolutely fabulous . While this is not a new hotel the facilities were clean, spacious and comfortable - lovely views from the balcony as well. The staff were extremely obliging and friendly. We were very impressed with all our meals at the restaurant there and felt they were modestly priced. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

unfortunately we had to wait almost 80 minutes for our food to come .had to ask after an hour when we might see some food .a suggestion for the staff maybe talk to your customers and maybe a free garlic bread or something would have helped .once the food came it was fine but a very large birthday party made it difficult to hear with the noise .probably give it a miss in future

Because this was a grabeone deal it was good for the price we paid. The ribs where the worst. Dry. Burgers are good. Summer seafood salad was OK. Seafood cooked perfectly.

Lovely little hotel, supported by a comfortable ,warm and nice resaurant. We will return.

We had our wedding here and spent months coordinating with their team. They were helpful and went above our expectations! The atmosphere in the garden and restaurant was fabulous. Food was delicious and rooms were super comfortable. The staff helped everything run smoothly. Fully recommend it as a venue!

Not great. I think the meal served should have been about $22 rather than $30. The cheapest wine on offer was also way over cost wise. Would go downtown in future

One of the highlights of our round the world tour. V Spacious room with balcony. Splendid pool to which our non-resident great nephews were permitted to come. Great breakfasts. Dinner not so great but sumptuous by NZ standards. Tom (the main man) is a mega star.

Went here for my mother's 80th celebration, party of 10. Ordered the 6 mussels in shell as a starter, but only 5 arrived! When the waitress went back to the kitchen to question the order the response came back that due to the fact the mussels were quite "heavy", they were only serving 5 instead of the 6 as advertised on their menu! Happy not!
I hope it was worth it, none of us will come back any time soon.

Most of the food was good. A couple of the meals were luke warm. Took a long time. Waitress was lovely and very helpful.

We had a wedding here Nov 2020. Everyone complimented the food and rooms. The rooms are clean and spacious. We have eaten here b4. The function organisation was fabulous and all staff were helpful. Its a spit to the airport and 6 km from town.

Their thai food was quite good and authentic, as they have a thai chef. The lamb shank was also quite enjoyable as were the brownies. Would be 5 stars if they had some fans or air conditioning as it was very warm inside.

Food was extremely delicious but a bit pricey for the amount you got

Great accomodation, the pool and gardens are gorgeous and tropical. Very relaxing and the food in the restaurant is delicious.

just spent three nights at flames,could not fault the place, food was excellent & well priced, beds good, service was relaxed & friendly,more like a home than hotel.well done.thanks for the stay,will come back.

One worker stole my money, A young girl with with glasses & tattoos. Not coming back

My Husband and I had our wedding at the Flames Hotel Whangarei on 13th October 2018. We booked out the whole hotel from Thursday to Sunday. Tom and his crew were so amazing from day one 9 months ago till the day we departed. Tom is a pleasure to deal with. Nothing was every a problem and he always had a smile and calm manner. It was truly a blessing to have him help us plan our special day. It was the most magical day. He is so accomodating. We highly recommend this hotel. The staff are more than 5 stars. The hotel was amazing Thanks so much Tom and your crew.

The best Comfort Hotel I have visited, rooms are comfortable, restaurant food is excellent, staff are friendly and welcoming.

unfortunately the walls are paper thin,the shower is for people 5 foot 5 and under and the place is in need of a revamp, good things are that the bed was great and the place was very clean,they also had additional sky channels.

Additionally due to owners response, looks like i stand to be corrected, The walls on the sides are concrete blocks, however the sealing is wood and you can hear everything there is to hear. Walking, talking etc

Awesome food, always head back every few months to sample the changes they make to the menu

Attended a wedding there, views were nice and staff were very pleasant. Buffet food was a little bland but dessert was delicious

My husband and I have been here for dinner twice now and we will surely be back again.
There is a beautiful island waitress who Is very attentive to our particular needs and has taken excellent care of us both times we have come to dine.
Food is great and so is the service. Atmosphere also amazing!

Awesome i had a surf n turf (special of the day) cooked medium rear . Cooked to perfection! I also had the desert special New York cheesecake, with choc mouse and strawberries! Yum is all i can say melted in my mouth.. excellent waitress , fabulous company we had a blast!

Tidy rooms and friendly staff - basic but great for a stopover if traveling for work. Nice bar and food area also.

We hired the Lava Bar for a work function. It was a great venue and the management looked after us very well. Food was good and service excellent.

Stayed for work and it was well worth it. Lovely views from our rooms, very tidy and clean, big rooms, comfortable beds, lovely breakfast, friendly staff and we will definitely be staying again next year!

Best kept secret in Whangarei to stay and so handy to town .
I stumbled across Flames and now there is no going back to stay elsewhere.
Beautiful setting - recommend the Garden room over looking the pool out to the harbour - super private.
I was so impressed how clean it was and how friendly and helpful the staff were.
A fabulous restaurant beautifully decorated with a great indoor / out door feel and a extensive menu and delicious food that was exceptional ,best meal in Whangarei.
I travel to Whangarei often from Auckland - this is my new go to hotel .
A big Thankyou to the Team here ,I had a wonderful stay. Try it - you will not be disappointed

Attended a wedding reception here. It was beautiful and the staff was super friendly.

We attended a meeting here, and thoroughly enjoyed the light refreshments and conference room, and outdoor entertaining great.. love this place

Beautiful outlook from our room, very professional staff, food is delicious at the Flame Restaurant. The room is spacious but is showing its age a little. Would definitely stay here again.

Three of us booked for dinner.
Hostess very casually dressed but pleasant and helpful.
The menu described dishes that when presented were simply not up to the description. The scallops were small, dry and hard, the polenta stale and dry and vegetables tasteless. However the lamb chops, although a little overdone were tasy and tender.
The chicken breast was overcooked and dry and the sauteed potatoes soft and not browned properly.
The prices were above average for the fare.
Truly guys you need a more skilled chef.
I really do cook better at home and though not one to complain much on a night out....this was disappointing.

What it shows online is a bit different to when you get there not somewhere I would stay again myself
