Nice quaint little library. Very quiet and good for getting work done. There seems to be a decent selection of books and the place was very clean and neat. The only issue I have with it is that some of the staff seemed a little rude and one lady gave me a nasty look when I walked in (I m not sure why). She may have just been having a bad day, but still.
Also, the WiFi is not the best, but it gets the job done. I highly recommend using a VPN though if you re worried about the network being unsecured.

My kids have always loved coming here but being from an area in Texas where they are updating their libraries to look nice and have lots of incentives for kids to read (especially in the summer), I'm disappointed in the Flagstaff libraries. 1. Both libraries are a magnet for the homeless. It's hard to enjoy a nice picnic at Wheeler park since the homeless will end up asking you for food. 2. I'm just wondering why the youth section clutters the top of their shelves with old stuffed animals, old paper mache projects and other random projects. The ceilings could use a serious makeover since it's still popcorn style. The carpet is who know how old. The mural is very outdated. The stuffed lion and bear are sooooo old and gross!!! The fireplace needs a facelift. The furniture could be replaced with more modern furniture. And the thing that gets me is that there are always people smoking right outside of the entrance. 3. The only perk to this place is they just got a new book drop with a good view for the kids to see the books and DVDs get organized. 4. This place has a few programs for kids during the week that are free but I'd like to see more incentives for kids to READ more. Like a treasure chest for every so many books they read, they can pick out a prize, a really good summer reading program with big prizes for so many books or minutes read. The big prizes could be from local businesses or Phoenix attractions. This place just seems stuck in doing things the same old way from the 80's. Today's smell in the main library was wet laundry, dirty socks and B.O. Overall, this place is a place of reading and learning but needs serious work on the interior design of it all....

This is a wonderful library and I particularly love the beautiful traditional Flagstaff architecture. I haven't had any trouble with the wifi, there is a good selection of books, dvds and cds, and the Free Books offering is a really nice feature. It is big and spacious and comfortable with a marvelous selection of Native American rugs displayed as wall hangings. A wonderful place to curl up and read!

That being said....the reason I can't give the library 5 stars is rather significant. IT'S FRICKEN LOUD!!!! People frequently talk in full-voice conversations, cell phones go off and their owners start talking right there in the library rather than taking the call outside. The librarians do nothing whatsoever to quiet people down. In fact....one of the loudest people in the library IS a librarian! I've heard her having loud, lengthy personal conversations at the front desk on several occasions, to the extent that I was unable to focus on what I was trying to read 20 feet away. Whatever happened to the days of "Shhhhhhh..." that I grew up with in libraries?

Other than that, I think that Flagstaff is really fortunate to have our library and I am very appreciative of having such a great (if loud) resource.

Awesome community center! Library has connectivity and good periodical selection. Park near property brings it all home.

STEM TIP: Blue Zones hypothesis for longevity includes communal interactions being a key variable: you will live longer with community relationships being real and strong.

Sardinia, Italy
Okinawa, Japan
Nicoya Peninsula, California
Loma Linda, California

This is a great place to spend some time. The inside and out side of the building is nicely done. There are many large windows allowing sunshine and the beautiful green tree to be seen, bringing the out doors in. The staff is very polite and well informed to help you find what your looking.

Enjoyed this library back in 2017, I am not sure how it is now! But it's huge and has a lot to offer. They were remolding at the time I came here so I can only imagine what the completely project looks like! Parking lot is small but there a little bit of a bigger one across the street and a huge grassy area full of life. The staff is friendly and helpful and usually keeps library rules implemented which I can respect. This is one of the two libraries in the area.

Worst library I have been to. I came today 3/21/18 at 4:00 to fill out an application I told my daughters both to stay at the playground area while I did that quick & both old ladies at the desk felt the need to come up to me being rude telling me you need to stay with them at all times like ok old lady I m just trying to do something fast here but 3 times they told me this. So I took my daughter sat them with me at the damn computer one of them decided to go at the playground again so here come that rude lady again with her you need to be with them at all time I had to log out & leave. I came yesterday & the young lady yesterday was not like this. This people need to get fired.

I love this library, the staff is always friendly and there are areas for people to talk and converse while there are also quiet areas that are withdrawn from all the noise, and are great places to study or read a book. They always seem to be putting on events for the community. While they might not have the largest selection of books, the staff are always willing to try to order books that are suggested to them.

We have lived up and down the Western United States. We visit libraries in every town. This is by far the loudest library we have ever been to! Adults and children alike. I'm shocked the staff does nothing. Study, read or do your work elsewhere. This is not the place to do it.

This library is a haven for the homeless. There are 3 guys who live in their vehicles outside the library and spend 5 hours a day downloading and watching movies inside the library, hogging up space. They also bring in water coolers and eat inside all the time. I guess nobody wants to enforce the rules here.

As others have stated this library is a magnet for the homeless. If you need to use the computers here you can expect to have some smelly, drunk or drug addled mentally ill vagrant, possibly with a knife stuffed in pockets, sit next to you talking to himself and continuously making sudden movements and violent hand gestures. Sounds uncomfortable doesn't it. Have tried getting the librarians to do something about it and they don't care, so 1 star until it gets better.
