Loved the atmosphere. Very well done. Food was great nd OK priced. Waitress hated her life but service was OK. Resturant was clean..the inside of the brewary looked like a soviet bio experiment..white paint and floor..metal doors at each end rusting.. needs some paint bad. Will go back for food! I would recommend to a friend
Bad service !! The food was ok !! We never got our dessert
Great food! Kids menu covered all my picky eaters and the beer was also amazing. Wonderful service and atmosphere topped it off.
Wait was okay because you can shop next door. Food good, beer good
friendly wait staff and delicious food. awesome fireman's hat for the kids!
Man, this place used to be great. The atmosphere is always amazing. But the beer has gone downhill. The food menu, which used to be awesome, is now just generic and Meh. Sad, because this used to be a downtown institution.
Loved this cozy place! Great beers, tasty food, and friendly staff. Loved the Krampus Porter!
We were in town for the weekend we heard about this place how nice it was. It was kinda early afternoon on sat Sept. 12th we had a big breakfast late morning so we didn't want to eat yet. But planned on cmg back later in evening to eat. We asked the young hostess' if we could just sit have a drink or so. She hesitated and said well there is a little space at bar. We said how about outside well sure but u will he sitting in sun and lots of bugs. Were like ok I guess. There were tables not n sun but she took us to the far table up front in sun. We waited 15 to 20 min
no one came so we exited out the front gate. Not impressed.NOT very professional !!
Ruben sandwich was very good. Onion rings and sauces tasted great.
Beer was watery, hamburger was cooked through when requested for medium rare, pork was dry, drinks were forgotten by the waitress.
It was okay I guess, but I wouldn't come back if I was a local.
Quick serving, quality food and Jessica was great in terms of hospitality. Thank you Firehouse Brewing company for such a lovely arrangement.
The wine was great! The brisket and ribs weren't as good. They were not as tender as they should have been. The staff was great.
Delicious food, great and friendly staff! Huge shout out to Justice, her first night and she was incredible! Thanks for the great experience!
Mollie was the best server ever! The food is fabulous! Thanks for a perfect lunch experience!
Worst barbecue I have ever had the brisket looked like spam, the ribs were Tuff and tasteless, The beer was absolutely horrible!
Stopped in here after our plane landed from the East Coast. I was very happy they had a beyond burger on the menu! I ordered that and one of their beers (unfortunately I cant recall which one) and the entire meal and experience was great. Our waitress was really sweet and talkative.
Visiting from out of town, amazing atmosphere, huge portions, and all around great time. Our server was amazing and knowledgeable on the menu and drinks. Would make this a regular dinner place if I was local. Thanks for a great meal
Great selection, great food, great atmosphere, and excellent service!
The is a great eating experience in an old firehouse on Main Street in Rapid City. The menu has a lot of choices and the food is very good. There is also a nice patio area with live music. This was my second time there and I really enjoyed both times.
I want to like this place; I really do... The location is perfect, the atmosphere is great, but the beer is just not very good. There are hints of something in the brown ales, but everything else has off-flavors that are just too much to be compensated by extra hopping or imagination.
The staff is really great, and the food is pretty good, but I just can't give a really positive review. As the brewing scene in the Black Hills expands, Firehouse is definitely going to get left behind...
(UPDATE)
Went back again after a few months to see if I'd given a fair report. And yes, the beer is still awful (the Black Hills Brown is the only one worth ordering) but now the food and service appear to have taken a tumble as well. Dropping my rating to 1 star and hoping that someone can come in and fix the place because it really does have a great location. I also feel like the people driving in on I-90 and seeing billboards for this place for 200 miles before they even get to town just deserve better.
Very good food, cool location. Fair prices, with outdoor seating. The cool ads along I-90 got us in the door, but it s worth it.
Could of been a five star but chef ran out of my first choice and since the other diners with me had their orders in I had to quickly put a second choice. Then it came lukewarm. Communication? Not our servers fault-Sam!!!love ya Great beer and bread pudding!!!
I'm a local and have been here several times. Tonight the service was good but not spectacular. Our waitress grabbed beers and had them to us quickly but when the bill finally came out, it took 15 minutes before she came back to cash us out. The beer has improved over the years but you can get better beer for a better price done the road at Lost Cabin. And last but not least I ordered the Stout and Hardy meal and was disappointed in how lack luster the meal was compared to the name and price point, I feel you should get more than a small bowl of soup for $12.00.
Great food, love the patio that was an old fire truck bay.
Food is amazing. Outside seating was comfortable. Our waitress was helpful and really good. Pork is some of the best pork ever had and the gumbo was excellent. 10/10 recommend if driving thru and need some food.
Below average beer and BBQ that is not actually BBQ d. Beer is thin and light and brisket dry and over cooked with no smoke taste.
Old building is really neat. Service was decent, not great but not horrible; seems constantly busy there.
Food was OK, again not overly impressively but better than a chain restaurant.
Beer was really mediocre. Nothing unique and the flavor was amazingly consistent amongst varying beers.
Nice decorations, good atmosphere.
Any food.
The American Lager was right up at the top of my favorite micro brew beers I would highly recommend it !
Good food, great beer (awesome deal with the flight) and fun atmosphere for our firefighter family. Seated right away and our server was friendly and helpful. Bummed though that the gift shop closed earlier than it's posted hours. We were looking forward to buying some cute souvenirs, but missed out!
My whole family went here after seeing billboards about it and it was kind of disappointing. My burger was great, but my sister s macaroni and cheese was disgusting and my mom s soup and salad was super disappointing! I m only giving it three stars because my burger was really good, if that weren t the case it would be lower.
Over hyped. Good beer good food, but its just average.
Salad drowning in dressing and had to ask for a fork. First time I ordered the tuna salad to go it came with no tuna... finally got to try it and was underwhelming. .. or overwhelming if you consider the dressing situation.
Excellent food, wine and beer! Friendly waitress, Taiya.
Beers were very good. Food varied between so-so and very good. Service was slow.
Granted the patio area where we were seated was pretty full, but it took 10 minutes for a server to come ask us our beer order. Unfortunately, she didn't know the beers and there was no printed list! She pointed out that the list is on small tv screens on the patio, but none were in our view (they could use about 3x the number of screens to make this work). Once I walked 3 tables over to see a screen, I could finally order. It then took 15-20 minutes for the beers to arrive at our table! Dinner was ordered when the beer came. Food service was equally slow.
This was our first visit while we were passing through area. It's possible that they were VERY short-handed and dealing with new staff, but we were not impressed with the service.
This is always a place we like to go to for dinner and cocktails. Great salads, burgers, pasta and even a Reuben. Great service tonight sitting outside by the fire.
Thanks Firehouse Brewing!
The artichoke dip appetizer is amazing. Also the garganzola cheese soup is very creamy and smooth and very filling.
Unique firehouse restaurant! The food was just okay. The family purchased burgers, kids macaroni bites & pork sandwich. The beer on tap was good. The server, Logan, was knowledge about the beer-which was helpful! The burger was so thin they can't/don't ask how you want it cooked. There really wasn't any flavor really in the burgers. The kids mac & cheese bites are tiny. The kids get a firehouse hat for free which is awesome & makes for a great experience. Promptly greeted by the hostesses which was awesome!
I found this refurbished fire house to be very pleasant & reasonably priced. The food was delicious, service was nice & enjoyed the selection of micro beer's.
The beer is not bad, but the food is basically disgusting. Ribs and fish tacos... it cannot be easier... but both the ribs AND the cod in the tacos where as tough as shoe leather!!! How is that even possible? Then I did complain to the server and the manager co.es out and asks us to leave? Seriously? No apology, no offering other food? Simply: please leave now??? Wow...
Service needs improvement but food & beers were worth the trip.
Everything was good except the brisket. Very dry no taste. Stick to the soups and sandwiches.
Best Reuben, beer cheese soup, and fries. Probably the best we have ever had!
We had an excellent server named Kyle who explained wonderful attractions to new Rapid City residents. However, during our interaction with Kyle, we were rudely interrupted by a self proclaimed manager who has Grinch hair. She was working behind the bar. She then goes on to tell us, "she has every right to speak to Kyle the way she wants because she is a manager too." Good for you?? Like who does that? Word of advice-talk about your issues with Kyle when customers are gone not in front of them you weirdo...
Had the Swarthy Beaver and the Blue-eyed Girl - both quite good. The "and then some" burger was amazing. We almost didn't go because of mediocre Google reviews; so glad we decided to take a chance!
We were visiting Rapid City for one night and a friend suggested we eat here. We happened to be in town the same night as a street festival, and were a little worried it would be hard to get in to eat. They took our name and within about 20 minutes had texted that our table was ready. The beer menus are on flat screen TVs around the dining room and can be hard to see depending on where you are sitting. Our server was with us almost immediately and was very attentive and helpful all night. My kids (9 1/2 and 11) were disappointed in the small, and limited, kids menu, and my son asked after we left why other kids had plastic fire fighters hats but he didn't get one. Overall the food was good, and we enjoyed trying local craft beer.
Great food & service. BBQ sauce needs to be heated as it makes the meat cold!
The Spontaneous Heating is amazing! It's fairly spicy, just the right amount of spice.
A bit over priced for the quality but not a bad place. The staff is very friendly, can't say enough about them - the atmosphere is great too. On the bright side, the beer and wine are quite good!
Stopped in on St. Patrick's day and had their corned beef and cabbage, it was the most amazing corned beef I've ever stuffed in my face! Hats off to ya!
Blah experience. Geared up for some beer but they only have 6 available from the long menu presented. Waited forever for server. Good was good though.
Great food, great service. Good quality food with good portion sizes.
Great food! The tour was so awesome! We did a wine sampling and ended up buying two bottles to take home with us!
The food was amazing. Glade we stop here for lunch.
Good food, good beer, good service, good fun! What more can you ask for?
Our waitress wasnt good all she did was visit her friends and never checked on our food we waited for 30 mins to get our order and she never came to our table and refilled our drinks we went to the bar to get refills but good wings have to he white to get service here
The atmosphere and staff were great! The food was less to be desired, large food trays and portions small. Was nice to say we stopped, but wouldn't come back for food again.
Looks like the place to go with friends or family. May be crowded. Good food. Good location to have a dinner or a lunch.
First stop on our SD vacation. Echo the sentiments about wait time. Beer is okay, food decent, worthy of 4 stars for sure.
I walked in as a single person. I told the host and hostess I would try to sit at the bar. The bar was crowded. I walked back to the host and hostess and asked if I could sit at a high table next to the bar. They said that should be fine. I sat at a table waiting for a menu from them to no avail. I then asked the bartender for a menu and ordered a beer myself. The wait staff, food and beer was good. The host and hostess seemed annoyed with me. Unfortunately their the 1st impression of a business.
Awesome beer and food. I had the Smoke Jumper Stout and the Fish and Chips. It's in a cool old building that was once a fire house. Definitely coming back to this place.
The advertising for this place rivals Wall Drug. A sign every mile along highway 90, most of which with a full sized fire truck. And like Wall Drug, when you finally get there, it does not live up to the hype. The beer was not half bad, a solid 4 out of 5. The food and prices are so-so. At the end of the day the advertising worked and we went here for dinner. But only once and probably not again.
We're from out of state and usually make this a must stop. Last year however we vowed to never return due to extremely poor service and cold food. After 1 full year this was their "REDEMPTION" test and they passed with flying colors. We look forward to again enjoying good food and good customer service.
Worthy of a visit, the beer selection is fine, the 9 beer 'flight' was very inexpensive and the way to go on an initial visit. The 'Firehouse' atmosphere is interesting and fun. They also have a wine tasting section in the building next door.
Very disappointing experience. We vacation in Rapid City every year. Last year we gave Firehouse a try but never got to sample the fair because after half an hour after being seated we had never been waited on. This year friends of ours talked us in to trying again. The only good thing I have to say is that our server was very prompt. When visiting a brew pub I would think that the servers would know the beers, instead every table was told to check out a TV screen located on a wall. We spent the entire meal having half the restaurant staring over our heads. The food looks great on the menu but was in fact terrible. The tuna nachos were nothing more than a bunch of over cooked chips with a few tiny pieces of tuna. If that wasn't bad enough the calamari was inedible. Cold, lumped together, rubbery mess describes it best. By far the worst I've ever had anywhere in the country.
There are a lot of choices in Rapid City for dining out. This should not be one of them.
Always nice lunch location with outdoor seating and nice local beer selection.
Cool decor, decent beer, wasn't blown away with the food
Great place. A variety of good local brewed beers. Both interior and exterior patio are well finish. Staff are very friendly
Order the pulled pork, it was fantastic, but cold and the bread was soggy. My beer, their stout, was good but our service was horrible. Even at the merchandise store next door... we walked out and they missed out on several sales. Management tried to make it right.
Good food, cool atmosphere. The old firehouse has tons of history and is unique.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff. Prices were reasonable for the quality.
Good location and atmosphere in downtown Rapid City, neat design and frequent live music make this place happenin! The beer is fine, and the food is fine...but that's it. Not bad at all, but nothing mind-blowingly amazing either.
Great ambience, food is good. Staff super friendly!
The appetizer was ok but the rest of the food was not. It looks cool but food is below average.
A very good collection of beer, they could definitely improve on the food section a bit more.
Cool venue. Indoor/outdoor seating. The food is pretty industry-standard, the beer however, is pretty good.
After seeing an abundant amount of promotional signs on our way into western SD I was stoked to check this place out, being from Milwaukee I love a good brew and look forward to venturing to see what the new local brewers are crafting these days and of course try some sample and take home a growler or two.
This particular establishment (at least the Keystone location) was a major let down. It was nice looking place but when I asked the gentlemen behind the bar for a sample and asked him to describe the some of the aromas of a specific ale, turns out he was new on the crew and was unable to explain, or go into any detail about what the company was about. Thats the first red flag to me. Then this individual asked a waitress behind the bar and her response was I don t drink beer so I can t help you there . I was extremely stumped on that response, if you going to work a local brewery you should know how to describe your product, especially if you want to promote it. That was the second flag. Finally when I asked (what I think was a person at the managerial level) he couldn t (or wouldn t) enlighten me with at least 1 minute about their products, he simply walked passed and seemed reluctant to want to talk about anything. All of this was very odd behavior. Maybe they where having an off day, or not, I m reasonable, but this was a let down, Kind of like a Transformers movie, lots of FX but no story. I certainly hope the other locations don t behave like this. It was really disappointing.
Fantastic service even within an hour of closig. Friendly, fast, great food, solid beer, good variety of BBQ sauce. Turned some hangry tired travelers into happy satisfied customers late on a Monday night.
This place is more of a restaurant than a brewery. Service was terrible, we were seated and waited 20 minutes and none even acknowledge us. We got up and left. We did tell the hostess why on our way out.
Tap lines not cleaned, 2 different tap beers had that mildew wet cardboard after taste. Ordered bbq pizza app...got ellios with some stuff ontop.. not impressed at all.
Great food. Had the buffalo Berger. It was awsome. Wonderful fries.
Great place. Very unique. Well worth your time to stop and have a brew here.
