What a gorgeous place.

What a gorgeous place.

From the outside it is not obvious, but AMUZ is an old church reconstructed for events.

I discovered this place since AMUZ was the afterparty for the Museumnight in Antwerp.

What a place to be at for an afterparty, incredibly beautiful!

Horrible service. I bought a voucher to use for an upcoming performance but could not exchange it because the act in question was not organized from Amuz but by a third party (there was no mention that this was not going to purchase). When the voucher was valid for one month, I tried to use it for another gig but unfortunately there were no appearances from Amuz more on the agenda within the validity period. When I wanted to raise customer service and I was treated very rude an extension early and was told bluntly that this was my fault and they did not pay for this. Too bad, I would like to recommend this beautiful location to friends but will now do the opposite.

It's all right ... what a warm message and Christmas story written and told by Kurt Van Eeghem. What a fantastic Christmas concert by Anne Cambier and I Justiniani with Luk Callens, Hryar Karpetyan and this under the professional direction of conductor Frank Agsteribbe suffused with the noble sound of trumpet player Manu Mellaerts and pianist Nicolas Callot
A catchy song "Hug in the sky" written and composed by Luk Callens was an absolute highlight.
All this in the beautiful setting of Amuze where 3 unique artworks by Jan Fabre were fitted in a breathtaking way.
Absolutely worth it...

Handsome concert hall in an evasive church in the heart of Antwerp. located in the kammenstraat, a trendy shopping street near the Groenplaats. Classical concerts are mainly organized but not exclusively.

Personally absolutely not a fan of Jan Fabre's art in the church. I felt uncomfortable with this.

A beautyful old church that has been transformed into an extraordinary concert hall. The paintings were kept, the gold lining and ornaments remained. The seats are decent enough to enjoy a concert. We had the pleasure of listening to a cello quartet, and the acoustics are simply stunning. A place we will be visiting again for sure.

About Festival van Vlaanderen Antwerpen

Festival van Vlaanderen Antwerpen: A Celebration of Music and Culture

Festival van Vlaanderen Antwerpen, also known as AMUZ, is a cultural organization that celebrates music in all its forms. The organization is based in the Sint-Augustinuskerk, a beautiful baroque church located in the heart of Antwerp. Today, this historic building has been transformed into a modern concert hall and serves as the beating heart of AMUZ.

AMUZ was founded with the aim of promoting classical music and bringing it to a wider audience. Over the years, it has grown into one of Belgium's most prestigious cultural institutions. The festival attracts thousands of visitors each year who come to experience world-class performances by some of the most talented musicians from around the globe.

The festival's program features an eclectic mix of classical music genres ranging from early music to contemporary works. Each year, AMUZ invites renowned artists and ensembles to perform at its concerts. These include soloists such as pianist Maria João Pires and cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras; chamber ensembles like Quatuor Mosaïques; orchestras such as Il Giardino Armonico; and vocal groups like Vox Luminis.

In addition to its concert series, AMUZ also organizes educational programs for children and young people. These programs are designed to introduce young audiences to classical music through interactive workshops and performances.

One unique aspect of Festival van Vlaanderen Antwerpen is its commitment to showcasing local talent alongside international artists. The festival regularly features performances by Belgian musicians such as violinist Lorenzo Gatto or conductor Philippe Herreweghe.

AMUZ's commitment to promoting cultural diversity is reflected in its programming choices too - it often includes works by composers from different parts of Europe or beyond that are rarely performed elsewhere.

The Sint-Augustinuskerk itself is worth visiting even if you're not attending a concert at AMUZ - it's one of Antwerp's architectural gems with stunning frescoes adorning its ceiling and walls.

If you're planning on visiting Antwerp during Festival van Vlaanderen Antwerpen season (usually between September-December), be sure not miss out on this unique opportunity to experience some truly exceptional musical performances!
