We have been customers since moving to Fl back in 2015, never missed or delayed a payment and until late May of this year we never made a claim even after going through 3 hurricanes. We had water damage due to a slow leaking water supply line to the fridge was discovered. We contacted FEDNAT and made a claim and at 1st they were very helpful explaining how their people would come and tear out the damage, have professionals remove the materials and area of black mold and so on. Once the estimates started to flow in and payments 1st started to come in all seemed as it should. Then more work was introduced by clumsy and careless contractors which FEDNAT sent to do the work but they refused to pay. Also, because we were blocked off from our kitchen for 3 months, we were assured our meal expenses would be covered but after submitting the first bit of receipts we didn't hear from our claims agent and it took emails and calls but finally the 1st checks showed up to pay contractors but less than half of the meal expenses were covered.
After repeated attempts to hear back from the agent they finally replied in an email stating that if they couldn't read the receipt, they didn't pay. We were not given the opportunity to make copies darker or any chance to argue the point, just end of conversation as far as they were concerned.
The next issue came when the barriers were taken down by the mold abatement company and their taping removed plaster and paint from ceilings and walls...which FEDNAT refused to pay for. They stated they had already made payments for wall repair which was earlier work done inside the kitchen so no other payments would be made. Pictures, estimates and descriptions about how the area were new to the claim but it all landed on deaf ears.
We submitted the last of the food expenses well over a month ago and we have not heard anything from the agent in more than 2 months. My wife has called to talk to them but always gets their voicemail with no return calls. We have called to talk to managers to complain but that got us nowhere because they did nothing and one of their email addresses came back as undeliverable. Just a horrible and costly experience for us.
I received a letter today informing me they are dropping me because of a crack in my exterior brick veneer wall ( that I had repaired by a national foundation company and I had a dog.) Nobody asked if I had a dog when I filled out the application for coverage. Now I am scrambling to buy insurance from a new company. Terrible not a dog friendly company.
Actually, as my claim has not been fully completed yet, my response is premature. I had a guest at my home who started a fire, then flooded the place while extinguishing the flames. FedNat's fire investigator and adjuster were both very quick and thorough with exploring the cause of the fire and estimating the potential costs of repair. My only "beef" with the agency is that they reimbursed me 150 for replacement of a queen size mattress. Clearly this does not begin to cover it. I had a policy for full current value of replacement. However, they reassure me that when I submit a claim with my receipt for the new mattress they will adjust the payout. They were very responsive, initially, with communicating and also releasing funds for rehabbing my property. They reassure me that if it is more costly they will make up the difference. As it is difficult to get contractors and materials these days, that is still TBD
Hurricane Ida October 29th, field adjuster comes out sept 10th , stays for less than 10 minutes amd leaves, house is destroyed. Spoke to desk adjuster yesterday who stated at least another week. Here we are, more than a month after we the storm and no money even offered yet. The desk adjuster told me yesterday that she would send me a link to list personal items lost amd she hasn't sent it. Remember the storm is over a month old at this point. Do not go with this insurance company.
I have been pleasantly surprised by my recent experience in filing a claim. The adjuster, Scott Nathan was extremely knowledgeable in a complex repair situation. He was able to give me some guidance on how the repairs so be completed and a price range. This became critically important because these companies where trying to make the job more complicated in order to inflate the cost. Scott was patient, responsive, and professional. #FedNat you hired a good one!
Customer service rep Rosalind is wonderful. I called with a problem and she was friendly, professional and helpful. Problem was resolved and she brought a smile back to my face!
if you are going to insure with this company be ware after you pay them for years (17) you are a risk and they will not renew you. I have never made a claim but that doesnt matter the price kept going up and now I will have to put a new roof on to get insured by anyone else. May insurance companies need to be done away and owners can have their own funds held in a bank to pay out any one in that community when the time comes, I am sure there will be an overage after 10 years
My husband and I had a bad leak in our master bathroom. Called Fed Nat right away and Leon Rivera, our claims adjuster called me and came out right away. He has been so patient and professional and explains everything very thoroughly which has eased my nerves. Thank you Leon so much!!!
FedNat has been an extremely easy and responsive company to work with, from answering basic calls to more complex ones like, our roof is gone, we hired a roofer and they re gone as well and we need a roof. I would highly recommend them and their services, listed vendors, etc..
