Would rate zero if possible..First, jump through hoops, then, deal with them telling you you are not present at bed check, when you were. By the way, they tell you this three days later, when you have no chance of making up the points(you get only two days to make them up by doing chores) then, you get a job, and they say their stupid meetings during the day are more important than your job, so you better call off for that day. After a couple of these incidents, you lose your job. Then, they decide to move you(a recovering drug addict, who unfortunately still struggles when you have plenty of available drugs literally around the perimeter of the entire building, block, etc.) Yet... they decide to move you across the street to the JKC building(where they regularly drug test you now), SO CHECK THIS OUT: A MONTH LATER..... I managed to stay clean, but all us single women and men in the JKC building(the PMC building, where I got moved from: women & men were not affected, if I would've stayed @PMC, I would have still had a place to live) and about a month and a half later I get a notice stating they are kicking out ALL single women and men from the JKC building to make room for families . We all know, when we got the notice, that the whole time, the staff who kept urging us to move from the PMC to the JKC at freaking (would say a diff word but can't swear, ha) Father Joe's Village knew of this, and that it was gonna happen, but moved us there anyways.. The staff knew we would be on our a$$ in the streets a month 1/2-2 months later, because we trusted their a$$es. For shame. Karma's a brat (once again cannot swear, even with stars, wow)
Anyway, I'm sure they'll get theirs...

I find FJV to be a great place to work; I strongly believe in the agency's mission. I looked up to going to work each and everyday and felt good about what I did during my 3 years stay. However, wages are mediocre for non-exempt or hourly workers. Management, please take care of your lower employees, they are the pillows of the organization!

I had bad experience on fathers Joe's village we became a homeless for a month with my 3 years old son. we seek a shelter just for temporary I say.... we don't have car and we had $ 300 dollars in our pocket for our food. so we decided to visit father Joe's Village but the Guard kicked as out I was begging him for the sake of my son I guess even I cried a blood still they wont let us in!!!!!!!! I remembered that was dinner time when we came there we had one suit case with us but the A******hole guard pick up my suit case and put it outside the door and he said we need to leave. to make my story short we were able to handle everything. we walk from downtown San Diego to point Loma where I found Safeway Vons they were hiring on that and I got the job after a week. we stayed at Loma Lodge for more than month and my husband found a job as well. we save money as much as we could and now we have our own small business here in El Cajon Area. to know more story about my experience reply this post.. PS sorry about my English since this is my second language.

For without a mega resource center for those whom ...

For without a mega resource center for those whom are homeless and what out of homelessness; there is the PMC building which provides one with access and availability to staff to assist in navigating the tools to either recovery and sobriety and or educational classes to employment to affordable housing. There is also the BMC building helping another set of underserved and below the poverty threshold in the same manner in which the PMC building. Then you have FJK and other programs that do the same as the PMC and BMC buildings; and for those housed withing St. Vincent De Paul - Father Joe's Village while in transition from temporary to permanent; and the public at large; one can benefit from it's health care facility, it's behavioral healthcare facility, it's dentistry, it's in-house pharmacy and it's accepting as one comes and nonjudgemental experts in drug and alcohol prevention and relapse intervention services. Many minimize this mega self-sufficiency approach organization; once you live within and experience it yourself, you will come to realize that there is a purpose, a need and a must for Father Joe's Village - St. Vincent De Paul to not close it's doors, but to continue to serve it's short and long term goals, plans, and objective for change and self-sufficiency! There is always a successful story of a family and or a single person almost every day. I encourage those reading about Father Joe's Village - St. Vincent De Paul to donate time by volunteering and or by making a contribution to the continuation of keeping this organization moving forward while changing lives. It's up to us the consumers to make it or break it while being served through Father Joe's Village - St. Vincent De Paul. Blessings and Amen; consider too visiting the Chapel every Wednesday and or every first Sunday of the month! Father Joe provides the mass no matter what the occasion is and or are. Blanco Blsunko

I set and appt for pick up today. Days ago for furniture and clothing. I was just turned down by the driver because I live in a upstairs unit. I was looking forward in donating these items to Father Joe's hoping it will be used and sent to a family in need. I'm very disappointed that I truly needed to post this disappointing review.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Their Truck Blocked my parking space and no one was around. I honked over and over trying to get their attention and no one came. After 20 minutes someone turned up and I told him I could not exit my parking space and they needed to move their truck. He gave me a song and dance and I told him I didn't feel it was legal to block the alley particularly when there were places he could park that would not block anyone. He became annoyed and said "o.k. then we won't move the truck. I felt he was angry and controlling. I called Father Joes and the dispatcher said he had moved the truck but when I went out again, he was still there. I tried calling back and they never picked up.

Any company that treats the public this poorly should not be donated to. They think they are above the public and all good things they are doing are at the expense of the public. Thanks for listening.

My order was not properly ordered - for a full size mattress that is manufactured by mattress company outside of Father Joe's. I waited the required week and after investigating, found that it was NOT even ordered! I prepaid. They also said for a refund I would have to wait another week for a check! I don't recommend them and their second hand furniture is over-priced.

BE PREPARED TO DIE!!! FATHER JOE'S/ST. VINNIE'S, ...

BE PREPARED TO DIE!!! FATHER JOE'S/ST. VINNIE'S, HAS A SECURITY DEPARTMENT THAT IS ONLY ABLE TO BE HIRED IF THEY ANSWER A PRELIMINARY QUESTION:

DO YOU PERSONALLY FEEL YOU SHOULD CAST THE FIRST STONE AT JESUS CHRIST, HIMSELF?

THE SECURITY DEPT HAS A 100% STEADFAST LAW YOU MAY NOT GO THROUGH THE DISABLED LINE FOR LUNCH WITHOUT A LETTER; THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT ALSO HAS A 100% RULE THAT THEY WILL NEVER WRITE SUCH A LETTER!!!

IF AN INDIVIDUAL IS IN SEVERE PAIN AND PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO STAND FOR 1 1/2 MINUTES DUE TO DISABILITIES HOW IS THAT SAME PERSON SUPPOSED TO STAND IN A LUNCH LINE FOR AN HOUR TO TWO HOURS????

THE HOSPITALS AND 211 SAY GO TO ST. VINNIE'S/FATHER JOE'S FOR A LUNCH MEAL DAILY YET THE PLACE REGULARLY REFUSES TO ALLOW SENIOR, DISABLED, DIABETICS TO HAVE ANY NOURISHMENT!!!

ONE MAY NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SECURITY DEPT AS THEY ARE HIRED IN AND MAINTAIN THAT ALL POLICIES INCLUDING STARVING PEOPLE ARE HONEST AND JUST. THE STAFF SUPPORT THEM IN THIS MOTION!!!

RACIAL/SEXUAL PREFERENCE/ AGEIST/ DISCRIMINATION S ARE ALSO ABUNDANT HOWEVER THERE IS PUBLIC DISDAIN FOR THE PHYSICALLY IMPAIRED OR OTHERS WITH ANY FORM OF DISABILITY. CULTURE AWARENESS CLASSES MY BE TAUGHT BUT THERE IS OBVIOUSLY N O INCLUSION OF DISABILITY AWARENESS!!!

FATHER JOE CARROLL, THE FOUNDER OF FATHER JOE'S/ST. VINNIE'S HIMSELF NOW USES AN ELECTRIC WHEELCHAIR; WOULD THE SAME PROGRAM HE STARTED ALSO REFUSE TO ALLOW HIM TO EAT???

They feed the homeless rotten food under the premise that if we dont eat it or complain we are not hungry enough which in effect starving us until will accept eating rotten food. and they have alowed a continuing pattern of verbal and emotional battering and threats of violence with favortisim towards black people. I came here hoping to escape from severe domestic violence and long term ptsd and have been subjected to far worse tortures here than on than on the streets.

Do not donate to them! They apparently do not want any of your stuff anyways. They came to pick up some of our furniture and then left without any of it. They had the opportunity to walk a little bit and take small stuff at least but claimed that rules and regulations did not allow them to take anything. When I asked them what rules and regulations they were talking about they ignored me. They were absolutely just being lazy and when I spoke to someone on the phone they were rude and continued to say that they could not take anything because of stairs, even though there is a ramp and walkway that led to their truck at a loading zone. I would donate to someone else and no waste your time with these people.

DO NOT SHOP HERE!

DO NOT SHOP HERE!
Whoever was in charge on January 11, 2020 for the closing shift. I walked in 5 min before closing just to purchase some shoes I had asked them to hold earlier and right when I walked in 5:55 pm they told me they were closed. They didn t even ask what I needed help with. I ve managed stores before and I know it s annoying to see someone come in before closing but honestly if your closed at 5:50 then fix that on your times sheet! Worst thrift store I ve ever been to. Whoever was the manager at that time was rude and should be trained on working customer service field. You should not even be in charge! Never going back there.

Went smoothly, great deal and accurately listed. I have won several auctions from Father Joes on two separate occassions. Both times I was in and out within 15min or less and I had 20 cases to load the last time. They had a dolly which they let me borrow (thank you Father Joes) otherwise I would have been there a while. Everything I purchased was new in box just as listed. I'll definitely be back.

This organization was recommended by a local realtor. I moved and didn't have time to go through selling everything so was donating furniture I no longer wanted. Spoke with an unprofessional, "non-customer friendly fellow. One would think that those who rely on donations would have a more pleasant demeanor with the public, especially those wanting to donate. It's their loss! I decided to work with the Salvation Army instead. They seem to have a more appreciative and customer friendly team.

Two things stood out to me when being approached by two father joe's employees while out in the park this morning with my two year old daughter and dog. The employees who attempted to engage me were totally ignorant and untrained. If I wasn't a patient and understanding person, I probably would have been really mad at them.
Father Joe's: Do a better job of training your team on how to spot homelessness first of all and second of all on how to interact with people regarding this sensitive issue. I understand that you're in it for the right reasons but that was a really offensive exchange that just happened that could have gone much differently if you had employees that were trained correctly. What was weird too, was when you asked me if I knew where any homeless people might be in the neighborhood and I told you, you just sat in your van and then drove away the opposite direction of where I suggested.

Since my round-a-bout in the city of San Diego I have seen the abundance of "targeted individuals".. In this particular area there are poor people who hear the man-made "voices" ,, this is done by technology that leads to mental health through biomedical science. Its simeple. these people are hooked up to a computer,,, its called brain to computer technology,, The participants that are in your facility can prove this matter. Xrays will show microelectrode arrays, and how they are used,,,, find out how taskfroces are used to bring these individuals to your doors,,,, MEMS sensors are responsible for the paranoia,,,, The federal government doesnt know that this is their last chance to get out of San Diego... The federal government is pushing political agenda with treatment and taxpayers dollars,,,

Alert people !!Gia answer the phone line 2100. A very rude rude woman. .
Alert!!!! Want to help o donate Give your car and donations directly to the needy .many of this people need help to keep moving some organization in San Diego are creating homeless parasit and mentally disabled because ,when they approached for help to keep working movings, this useless organizations cut their hands and feet . Example free transport only for elderly ? Food stamps $190 only if you are 0 income otherwise $15 ? Shelters you have to made bed reservation,in the morning, o be a victim of domestic violence to get help one year, others are waiting winter to provide help and made a public show they Christmas homeless dinner., Churches only help couple weeks a year in San Diego, because they prefer send missioners abroad , Jeshua is Dead for them here?. Safe homeless parking you must have children to get space otherwise pray for a miracle.,Local politics and leaders they are dreaming that everything is OK while more of one hate the needy and are working for laws to banned the needy from their neighborhood and get more votes, pets are priority for them. How can everything be OK? Stop the circus !! if no one is stretching the hand to help someone to rise instead push them down, the majority is happy playing to be goody in Christmas double morality of Sodoma .Politicians and community leaders must awaken soon to stop creating more homeless. Please Work! .Churches !!stop dishonoring with your actions the name of Jeshua He is alive and watching !!.. Cheers to everyone in the Golden state.

Ganstalkers and cop-callers that use V2K and also commit hate crimes. This is not normal! And this place is supposed to be a Catholic organization!!! They attack Catholics and for all those who don't know, the city own a this place now!!! Not Father Joe. They even took the St. Vincent De Paul out of the name. Really, you might as well change the name of Catholic Charities too, because according to them, they'll say that name is discriminating and politically incorrect or something.
