Well this is one place i fell i love with if a place could bring out the best out of a person this is it. The well manicured lawns look like they came right out of a picture. i have been lucky to spot the magnificent Mt Kenya standing majestically several times right from within this place and it is a sight to behold. The Fairmont Mount Kenya offers many activities amongst which is horse riding which i absolutely love, nature walks which are absolutely amazing since you get to bond with nature and sight a couple of animals if you are lucky as we were. We were able to spots the rare albino zebras, buffalos, a couple of birds and had an amazing guide with us guide Kamata.

The food isn t as good as it should be and everyone in the Colobus restaurant wants to sell you more drinks/food/etc. It s just too ugh for me.

The Southern Hemisphere water bowl in the garden LIES and spins the wrong way!!!!!

The fire in the room every night is really nice!

Had a short stay here a few years ago.
Hotel was lovely, clean and spotless. Grounds were immaculately kept and staff were friendly and accommodating.
Great facilities and views in a beautiful area.

Great location. Comfortable rooms. Good food. Most of the rooms have a fireplace, and because of the altitude, the temperature drop at night makes lighting a fire a viable proposition, especially during the rainy season.

Excellent hotel, amazing views of mount kenya, well maintained, a fun maze to go through, very nice open concept zoo where they hold animals awaiting transfer temporarily and others permanently when they can't be rehabilitated- note they no longer allow people in to the cheetah enclosure. Horse riding trail is average, you have to walk one behind the other, you see some herbivorous game, dinner service both nights was very poor. Food above average but not great, dessert was poor. Very picturesque hotel and area.

A wonderful place near Mt. Kenya. Lovely service and a beautiful surrounding. Things to do: The conservatory is in walking distance to the resort, and it is absolutely worth visiting. The tour to saltwater conservatory is also a must, as you can see lots of Rhinos. The drive to the mountain slopes (45 min) is something you can easily miss. Not much to see there.

The resort is beautiful, and you can spend a couple of hours just walking around inside the compound. Moreover, there is lots of stuff to do, so you won't get bored. If you are around Mt. Kenya, this is definitely the place to stay.

The grounds here are beautiful as are the views of Mt. Kenya on a clear day. The rooms are spacious (at least our River Suite was lovely). We always try to stay in the river cottages as one can relax in the morning or evening on the deck and enjoy the forest view and sounds. We are often greeted in the early morning with sounds of lions. The service is excellent, the food is pretty good but not up to the level of the rooms or grounds. Lots of activities for everyone (horse riding, nature walks, animal orphanage, maze, pool, etc). Highly recommend!

Good service, good ambience, good food. Tried out the a la carte restaurant. My group got a secluded section with dimmed light that made it feel intimate despite still being part of the not so big restaurant. Our server was nice and we had a lot of fun all through.

What a great resort! I absolutely loved my accommodations. My room had a fire place which was super awesome. If you are in the Mt. Kenya area, this is probably the best resort to stay in. The food was awesome as well.

I had passed by here two years ago and remember marvelling at the scenery. Well, that was nothing compared to staying here. First, the staff is very welcoming and full of tips and advice wherever you bump into them.

We stayed in a room overlooking Mount Kenya at a distance, so if you get up early enough before the clouds take over, you can watch the peak above the clouds that later cover it. The rooms are real nice and quaint. However, they could do with a bit more cleaning in the places you don't notice at first, but you do when it comes down to using the facility e.g. top shelves of the wardrobes and window shutters.

The food was delicious both the buffet offering in the Tusks Restaurant and the lighter options at Ze Bar. Have breakfast with birds in the outside section. The peacocks are a delight.

Very nice herbal body care options in the bathroom. Was pleasantly surprised to know they were Kenyan brands. Cinnabar Green.

Loads of activities to partake in on the huge property. Walk down to the little ancient Chapel overlooking a pond. Get lost in the Maze. Play golf across the road. Bike around or even further in the wild. Participate in the equator ceremony and learn interesting facts. (The hotel straddles the equator.) Get a massage at the spa (though this was my least favourite spa experience since they don't add any niceties to the actual massage experience). Gym if it's your thing. Swim in the beautiful pool outside. Visit the orphanage near the entrance and learn about the Bongo and all the other rescued animals. Buy some safari club souvenirs.

Overall quite a surreal experience to spoil yourself.

I really like it. Every time I come I feel all the staff are friendly, the food and the room, and all the facilities were clean and good, and the better thing was the view of the mountain Kenya at a glance and the snow was really good.

Nice property, very helping staff especially the Hospitality manager. One can get locked out of the room even if u have requested for late check out. Mr Onienga is a gem of a person and goes out of his way to make you feel at home

Amazing and beautiful with great people and gorgeous nature. You love nature and want to be away from crowd and craziness, this is the place to be. Just a bit pricey specially for some excursions.
