Beautiful property tucked away in a private gated community.

Will you first pull onto the Mayakoba grounds you are awe stricken as the security checks you in and provides directions to the Fairmont.

The Fairmont level of service is impeccable. They really take to the time to get to you know during your stay.

Of note: If you're planning on visiting the nearby attractions down in Playa del Carmen, Tulum, etc... I recommend renting a car for the duration of your stay. It's so easy to drive up and down the Carreta 307.

This hotel is a piece of trash. The infrastructure is not updated, the layout is totally ridiculous where you need to ride another 5 min in a golf car to get to your room or to the main lobby. The property is old, not 5 star, I don't understand why so many people here say the rooms are great, they look dated compared to a real 5 star place. They should also disclose to guests that the layout will take you through the jungle and you may be having a swarm of gnats, flies and mosquitos outside your room. Maybe for the lovers of nature this is great, but should still disclose. The staff is trying to be friendly but they can't fix anything and they get annoyed easily. I would never stay here again.

Fantastic place to visit. I was nervous at first, as I watch way to many horror movies. But was overwhelmingly surprised at the accommodations and things to do! Staff is incredibly friendly, everyone is nice, very clean, the groundskeepers are always walking around doing something, the boat rides and ferry rides are fantastic, the restaurants are great (I do wish they had a little more variety, especially when staying for an extended amount of time), the pools are outstanding, and the activities on the beach that are complementary were just too fun! Will definitely consider coming back. This place is only second to the Caribbean Club in Grand Cayman.

I don't normally write reviews but here I go. We have been to this resort many times over the last few years, so can speak with some experience. The pros: the grounds are immaculate; staff are friendly and mostly very prompt and accommodating; and housekeeping is very thorough.

This last trip however, we noticed a lot more "cons", which really surprised us. The seaweed at the ocean was a lot worse than previous years. It was unpleasant wading through it every day. They have crews working on it all day, but this took away from our tranquil time at the beach. Also, it was uncomfortable having 20 some workers beside you working/gawking as well as trackers and trucks driving on the beach all day. It felt like we were at a construction site and I had to be more mindful with our kids.

We always get the all-inclusive luxury package, but more menu items were now excluded. Also, breakfast at La Brisas was not included this year - only available for an extra charge. It was starting to feel like a cheap cruise with "add-ons" everywhere you went (even aspects of the kids camp were extra cost). There were also a lot of private functions while were there, which meant we were inconvenienced and had to move out/eat elsewhere from where we intended on several occasions.

The food was okay, but really lacked variety (i.e. would love more fusion food or bowls). It would be so nice to have different menus throughout the week too for added variety at the restaurants.

Some beach waiters were amazing, while others you almost had to tackle to get service. I suppose that could be true at any resort, but it hasn't been our experience in the past.

I know Fairmont is now part of a different hotel chain, I really hope this doesn't mean a decline in what it has been. With different loyalty program now in place that really isn't that exciting, or rewarding we are not sure if we will return. For the amount we spent here for a week for a family of 5, we can look elsewhere with likely better food options and a better ocean experience.

Dream place and always cordial attention.

Dream place and always cordial attention.
Everything perfect has so many pools that you always find a place without minors. Lis different restaurants all very good. The only thing I should recommend to the Brisas restaurant was the very expensive New Year dinner without drinks and the dessert buffet were cookies, alfajores and churros with jam. We paid 330 dollars without drinks 2 people. I do not recommend this system since last night we dined at Casa Amate Amaz hotel restaurant with Spanish wine and exquisite dishes for 250 dollars 2 people.

Booked this Family vacation thinking it s going to be a great family holiday considering it s the fairmont. The resort is not very accommodating to children, felt like it was an adults resort. Pools also weren't very accommodating for kids barely any kid friendly areas and the pools were always cold. Went to the asian cuisine restaurant and was told to hold our kids as they were not allowed to walk around/ make noise. Room service took a very long time about 45 mins for water or food to arrive . The food at the bar is wonderful but anywhere else at the resort it was terrible ! My Daughters chicken fingers and fish and chips came So dark a few times and other times not so bad. I figured it was over used oil in the fryer. The rooms are very small and outdated .The spa was the only part of the resort I d give 5 stars. It was wonderful staff was great and was treated very well. I would not recommend this resort to anybody else as the amount of $ your paying you can stay elsewhere with a larger room better food and faster service for way less !

Fairmont Mayakoba is one of the resorts with the highest quality standards in the entire Riviera Maya. The dishes in his restaurant Las Brisas combine the traditional with strong and balanced touches. The service in place is excellent.

The resort is phenomenal. First class everything. What kept me from giving 5 stars is the incredibly inflated prices. $18 for a burger, $7 for a beer and $11 for Mimosas and then they give a poor exchange rate too. The Laguna bar/restaurant was excellent. They had a cigar roller there rolling cigars, then he'd put a "Cohiba Cubana" label on it, which made me suspect that the Cohibas we paid $20 each for were not truly Cubans.

First day we got in we went to the beach it was covered in seaweed and you had to walk through atleast 10 feet of seaweed in the ocean to get to open water. It was like this for a number of days and had a bit of a smell. The last couple days most of the seaweed had been taken away and the beach looked very nice and didn't smell.

All the staff was very pleasant, and the food was quite good but fairly pricey especially since we were from Canada and the prices were in USD after conversion the prices are insanely high.

Most of the resort looks dated and could you a good facelift but very well kept. There is nothing to really do in the late evening, after 11 the resort is dead.

We stayed in a Casita and the room was nice with a very large bathroom and a balcony on the lagoon. The pools were clean but could use some maintenance.

We got sick from the food and spent our 3rd and 4th day in our room which was a real waste of a trip.

Overall the experience wasn't great, the staff were super pleasant, and the weather was great. I wouldn't stay here again for the price you can go to much nicer places with all inclusive.

Awesome!!! Absolutely go with the all inclusive package and you won't regret it. You will find a magnificent beach with white sand and blue sea, beautiful thatched umbrellas with sun lounger service and massage area. There are three well-kept restaurants with menus rich in interesting offerings, very well-made cocktails and all your requests will be answered by the very kind staff. The suites are large, tastefully furnished and equipped with every comfort you can imagine. A city network of canals runs throughout the property giving it an even more suggestive atmosphere.

So far my stay has been a comedy of errors. The property is beautiful but rooms need a little TLC. My family had 5 rooms booked for Thanksgiving but they had us spread out. Diego was very accommodating to try and get together but they were booked solid. I had to take a downgrade to a jungle view (aka no view) from canal view for 2 days and then they will shift be for my last 2 days to a room that i had booked. He and his manager gave us amazing customer service (Thanks Diego!!) and treated us to lunch on the house the day we arrived to offset the reservation issue ( hence 4 stars inspite of all the issues). We got to our room and started unpacking, however our safe was not working. I called housekeeping and they promptly sent someone to fix it. They tried multiple things but had to change the panel. While they were fixing, I almost fell out of the bed and the housekeeping service realized that my bed was missing one leg. They promptly fixed it but i had hurt my shoulder due to the fall. They apologized. I had couple of issues with the room key, it stopped working often ( though i did not keep it with phone or card) and on second day they checked me out although the night before i stopped by front desk and told them that i did not want to move. Their response was that computer checked me out( i kept thinking how when i specially stopped by to ensure they update). Long story short, people are helpful but rooms and systems need TLC.

Absolutely outstanding experience for my entire family! Even after a week on resort I did not want to leave! Jorge Ayala from the Front Office was most helpful in preparing for my trip. You can tell he has a talent for hospitality and truly cares for each guest. Thank you, Jorge! Now to plan my next trip to Mayakoba...

This place truly delivers on it's experience. Beautiful and secluded, you feel like you're in another world. Rooms are luxurious and ample. Food is delicious, and reasonably priced. Dealt with some gruff bartenders, and the prices are high while the drinks often too weak.

They're very nice here. The housekeeping people sorted my toiletries when they cleaned the room! They're very accomodating and sweet and everyone speaks english. Their beach is meticulously combed and flattened with lots of umbrellas and a great little bar-restaurant. The chicharron de pescado is great - it takes a while to come out but totally worth it. Shuttles are a big help getting around, but nothing is very far to walk anyhow. The lobby and every restaurant has lots of big umbrellas in case the weather turns rainy - I like using them against the sun too!

A hotel full of surprises, luxury, service, attention, golf course, restaurants, swimming pools, beach. To come as a couple, with the family and at conventions. A place that you should visit and enjoy to get to know it by bike, walking or golf cart, with the white beach and the sea of different colors. One of the most spectacular places between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Seat of a date a year of the PGA Golf ...

Loved this place and will come back. came to celebrate my friends birthday and we had a really good time. Staff was great, we did the all inclusive package and the food was really good. Really enjoyed the variety in food and exclusive touch it has, the chef makes really nice preparation very high end... I had a really nice experience biking around to the beach and other pools. Really nice to relax and get away of the daily routine. A lot of connection with the nature. most or all (not sure) rooms face to the lagoons. You can hear different kind of birds etc.

Exquisite. Enchanting. Unforgettable. Our second visit was as delightful as our first. We love the complimentary bikes, amazing food and drinks, but the staff is what brings us back. Professional and polite, nothing seems forced. So friendly, we feel like we're staying with family. Truly beautiful grounds. Don't forget the boat tour or to take a dip in all the pools. Beach is meticulously maintained and sublime. Water sports team is again, friendly and helpful and fun. I lost my sunglasses while trying to master the paddle board and the lifeguard didn't give up until we found them. Is that everything? Probably not. It's difficult to recall all the great memories when you leave with so many! See you next year!

Big, huge, exalted. Thus describe the majesty of such huge facilities with a service of kings and a delicacy of Gods. Pity for the beaches that are very badly treated but it is compensated with the hotel's jungle.

I am usually not a fan of very large resorts but this place was FANTASTIC! We did the all inclusive option and it was well worth it. The restaurants onsite are very expensive. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options and they had something different every day. Staff was very friendly.

We had a free upgrade to the casitas and a free visit to the spa. The spa had a steam room, mineral pool and hot tubs. We could not swim on the beach because of seaweed and the water in the pools was a bit cold. They could use a late night bar or club, it got a little boring after 9pm.

We went to the cenotes which were very close and Isla Mujeres (cab to Cancun then quick ferry). The beach at Isla Mujeres was beautiful, well worth the trip. The cenote cristalina was small and a lot of fun, we stayed and swam all day and the little restaurant there was really good. Playa del Carmen is also a 20 minute drive if you want to get into the crowded city and people watch or go clubbing.

Nature and life are full of life ... a place for the rich of this world. The quality of the place and the very friendly and polite staff. The highest quality of food and absolutely everything beautiful. I would be pleased if the construction of the restaurants and the hotel were tuned to the history of the place. Many empty spaces and concrete with no life on the walls. It is wonderful, but adheres to the beautiful story of the drawings, paintings and objects about the Mayans.

No doubt you have better attention to foreign tourists. The water pipes to the tub the water came out brown. They tell you that it is an all-inclusive and when you register you will be charged daily per person close to 400 Mexican pesos.

No doubt there are other options that for what one pays in this destination, one could have a better cost-benefit.
