If you are gay, bisexual, lesbian or transsexual t...

If you are gay, bisexual, lesbian or transsexual the staff here treat you like you're not welcome. Each time I have unfortunately had to come here for "substance abuse treatment I have been repeatedly lied to and was even forced into a program that the staff were mentally abusive and sexually indecent to me. The staff allowed a dangerous situation to happen against me and then told me that because of my sexual identity and how I look that it was my fault. No other time in my life have I been treated with such disrespect and complete disregard for my safety and wellbeing!
Now I have to take legal action against CSB and the "Crossroads Residential Program" for sexual discrimination and other violations. - Which is going to be expensive and embarrassing!
I can't speak for the other services CSB offers. But substance abuse treatment here is terrible! And the staff at CSB and the drug treatment facilities CSB utilizes needs to be held responsible for their actions. Outside sources need to monitor how clients are being treated. And people need to be aware of how people are being mistreated by some of the CSB employees.

Waited over 5 hours for an assessment that I didn t even end up getting. After 5 hours I went up to the desk & asked what is going on & when is someone going to see me! Keep in mind I ve been waiting since the office opened, her response was nobody has been assigned to me yet & she doesn t know how much longer it s going to be. I left immediately upon hearing that telling them I would return another day. Absolutely ridiculous I have to wait over 5 hours for an assessment I didn t even get. The assessment itself is another 2 hours

At midnght, I waited two hours to see somebody only to be told they can't help me unless i become a patient there, and to come back at 9am to repeat the entire process. The whole place reminds me of a more depressing DMV. I am without medicine and now suffering, as that was my last resort.

They did an intake and seem nice enough of the problem is it s all or nothing. So if you have a doctor that you have been seeing for years or a therapist from the outside you have to stop seeing them. You can only use their doctors and their therapist so if you need a certain medication you have no clue if you will be able to get it. That s why I Didn t go back and went elsewhere to stayaway from them.
Also there was a very disturbed man screaming and jumping that he needed to see his doctor and he needed his medication and it had been delayed for three weeks and they were not sympathetic at all. So for someone with zero resources this is a good place to start. It s very unfortunate that they will not let people go to their group meetings or counseling sessions without controlling their entire life.

It's the place to go for behavioral health.

It's the place to go for behavioral health.
It is for people who have a lower or no income and either no or govt. insurance.
It has the only 24 hour, Psychiatric, Emergency Service and a Diversion First program in Northern Virginia. There are drug and alcohol services, mental health services for children, teens, adults and older adults. There are Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialists, a Peer Resource Center, Be Well program, support groups and more for those with serious mental illness, co-occurring illnesses and Substance use issues
There are services for domestic violence and victims of other violence.
The staff is well qualified and dedicated.

Honestly I am disgusted with the medical attention in this facility. I have been waiting for help for over an hour now and they call themselves an emergency service. I am also THE ONLY PATIENT IN THE FACILITY and have been for the past hour and a half. Extremely disgusted and upset with the way this place works. AVOID MERRIFIELD EMERGENCY SERVICES BY ALL MEANS. they clearly do not care about their patients!

The system for new patients is ridiculous. They should have a way to schedule appointments for intakes. It feels like they re trying to make people feel like low lifes. We all sit around and wait. It s disgraceful.

So rude employee i had interview with. She feels the center is her personal property. Narrow minded and less general knowlade. Just ignore refugies and whoes are not her race. I think, the center managment need to focus on the capacity building of some employees and train them how to behive with customers.

Very good facility, but everything take so long. I wish they have more staff and the could send patients to other facilities fast. Every time a person need to get help take from 4 to 6 hours minimum doesn't matter how many people are wait. Like yesterday my son was the only person while afternoon and he arrived 1:00 pm and he left 6;00 pm.

I walked in without knowing how it would turn out or if they could help me with anything. The staff guided me and advised me of programs they offer and the process of everything. To make a long story short, going there might have saved my life and I am very grateful for the people I was in contact with from there. They patiently answered all my questions and helped me make decisions that were best for me.

This place has seriously saved my life. I walked in a few months ago a broken man... homeless, suicidal, hungry and depleted. Two months later, I'm back on my medications that I've so desperately needed and starting APH next week to get into the core of my issues. The doctors, counselors, intake and peer support specialists have treated me with the utmost respect and I greatly appreciate that.

Within the first 5 minutes of being here my patient rights were violated. Very long wait time. Brand new building and not enough staff. They also do not give priority to Vets. Avoid at all costs

I have been receiving care from this facility for some time now and can honestly say that the vast majority of the staff are caring professionals who go above and beyond to help their patients.

The United Nations recently prohibited forced psyc...

The United Nations recently prohibited forced psychiatry. The Merrifield CSB and countless other centers around the country violate this international standard and employ forced psychiatry.

From the UN Report of the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD) on its visit to the United States of America. A/HRC/36/37/Add.2. : Involuntary institutionalization of persons with psychosocial disabilities and forced treatment is prohibited. You can Google that sentence, it's true.

DO NOT send your partner or loved one to the CSB for psychiatric evaluation if you value their dignity and freedom. Most likely most of the people "helped involuntarily" by their psychiatrists here were basically scared into submission and that's how they "got better". The psychiatrists here that I ran across last year were power tripping and deeply inhumane.

Quite sad, because there are some good parts of the CSB, possibly even most of the CSB. I hope Fairfax County defunds the psychiatric arm of their county.

Now this is a separate topic,
I understand part of the CSB is to "divert" drug addicts from jail. How about the county (which the CSB is apart of) stops sending people to jail for drugs in the first place??? There's no point to that.
