A few of my friends studied here and they all seemed fairly intelligent, so I guess it can't be that bad of a university :)

Great reputation and closely located to where you will probably work when you graduate, go check it out and get educated.

The London School of Economics (officially The Lon...

The London School of Economics (officially The London School of Economics and Political Science, often referred to as LSE) is a public research university located in London, England and a constituent college of the federal University of London. Founded in 1895 by Fabian Society members Sidney Webb, Beatrice Webb, Graham Wallas, and George Bernard Shaw for the betterment of society, LSE joined the University of London in 1900 and established its first degree courses under the auspices of the University in 1901.[5] The LSE has awarded its own degrees since 2008, [6] prior to which it awarded degrees of the University of London.

LSE is a member of the Russell Group and is generally considered a part of the "Golden Triangle" of universities in south-east England, along with the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, University College London, Imperial College London, and King's College London.[9][10][11][12][13][14][15] It is second in the world for social sciences in the QS Rankings behind Harvard University, ranked in the top twenty in the THE Rankings and in the top fifty by all four major global rankings.[16][17][18][19] Overall, it is ranked among the top ten universities nationally by two of the three UK tables,[20][21][22] while internationally it is ranked in the top 50 by two of the four major global rankings[23][24] and in the top 100 by a third.[19][25] In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, the School had the highest proportion of world-leading research among research submitted of any British non-specialist university.[26] The LSE is also a member of academic organisations such as the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the European University Association.

LSE has produced many notable alumni in the fields of law, history, economics, philosophy, business, literature, media and politics. Alumni and staff include 52 past or present heads of state or government and 20 members of the current[when?] British House of Commons. To 2017, 26% (or 13 out of 49) of all the Nobel Prizes in Economics have been awarded or jointly awarded to LSE alumni, current staff or former staff, making up 16% (13 out of 79) of all laureates. LSE alumni and staff have also won 3 Nobel Peace Prizes and 2 Nobel Prizes in Literature.[27][28] Out of all European universities, LSE has educated the most billionaires according to a 2014 global census of U.S dollar billionaires.[29] LSE graduates earn higher incomes on average than those of any other British university

When I talked about LSE, my professors, department head, and college dean were all excited about students could be admitted to this school. LSE has great reputation and absolutely will boost one's resume.

The school has the most intellectual, yet friendly atmosphere and student would ever need during their postgraduate degree. I would honestly say that this is the most prestigious, encouraging and wise place to put yourself amidst life experiences.

One of the best social sciences school in the world. It s a tiny campus: always crowded and full of events and talks (open to public). And whoever claims there is no free lunch, that s not true: you could get it here everyday.

Absolutely love the course I m enrolled in! I couldn t have had a better mix of modules even I tried. There are plenty of Economics modules available that allow for you to develop not only your quantitative skills but enhance your qualitative skills too.

Teaching methods are also fab, as lectures taught by world renowned professors are followed up by discussions led by phd students that have researched such topics in depth.

This university changed my life and I am so grateful for the people I have met. Teaching isn't great but it's time to grow up and do your own independent study. I came from the roughest school in tower Hamlets and my mentally changed once I was in my first year here. My life path has drastically changed! I've found that its the really privileged kids that will complain for stupid things like they don't have 5 student microwaves instead of 2 or there needs to be a graduation ball because XYZ uni does it.

This is one of the great UK universities and its influence certainly goes far beyond the classroom. Despite the strong brand, the school tries hard to maintain its status as a world leading institution by attracting top talent and heavily investing in the areas of infrastructure. This did not go unnoticed during my time there. All in all, think of all the things that a student wants from a university and it is hard to identify one area where the LSE does not deliver.

I certainly am satisfied with the school.

Just to be on the safe side, at least for the postgraduate courses the LSE experience -as with most UK universities- is one where the student is expected to be to a large degree autonomous with relation to studying and covering ground on the courses. This is part of the teaching philosophy in the UK. As such it can sometimes feel atomized an experience and might contrast with the norm in other countries.

This school awarded a Ph.D. degree to Ms. Ing-wen Tsai, the president of Taiwan, who wrote a thesis with almost 600 misspelled words. In addition, this school lost her thesis and had to request a personal copy from her. What a mess!

Full disclaimer: I attended the LSE and have many fond memories of this place, so you could consider my review to be biased. I'm not going to write about the quality of the courses or its international reputation as these are well-known. Rather, I'm going to write about LSE's great public lecture programme, which often feature renowned speakers such as Alain de Botton, Bill Gates, Eric Ries and Angus Roxburgh, to name but a few who have spoken in the past two months. Access to the lectures is, believe it or not, free, although some are ticketed, with tickets being allocated through a ballot system should demand exceed supply. In the event you're not able to make a lecture, these will usually be recorded and made available for downloading in the form of podcasts on the LSE Public Events website in the days following the event. If you've a free evening and want to spend it enriching your mind, this should definitely rank high on your list.

As I never studied here, I can't share any insight on the quality of education you would receive here, but you probably can't go wrong looking at the list of their alumni. I have however attended a number of public events organized by the LSE. Combine lectures, discussions, debates, concerts, seminars, and exhibitions with some very famous names linked with interesting topics and you have the LSE's recipe for a public event. Almost all of them are recorded and appear online in convenient podcasts a couple weeks afterwards if you missed out for whatever reason. If you're not already convinced, the events are also completely free.
