I use the bank in Craigsville, Va. I use it for my personal accounts and my business. It s convenient. I make daily deposits and grab whatever change I need for my cash drawer every day before I open. The ladies there all know me, know my family, and know my story. Not one person goes in there that they don t. They make it a point to know us, to know what we need, and always offer things to help better serve our banking needs, etc. Every client I have, uses this bank and I have clients from Goshen, Millboro, Deerfield and so on.

As of yesterday, I am told, the bank will close. I was told that when BB&T was there, they had something around 13 million in accounts. F&M only has 6. That is not enough of a profit for them to stay.

I joined with F&M because I thought it was the way DuPont Credit Union USED to be when they first started years and years ago. I thought they were for the community. I liked that since I try to give back to my community as much as possible. I loved the ladies in Craigsville because they were always planning community events and making me apart of them.

But this isn t what Corporate F&M is all about. It s not banking as a whole every division as one it s individual spots and if they are pulling enough of a dollar to add to the empire. They don t care about the community, farmers, elderly or anyone. They only care about the bottom line and as an individual bank and what that line is.

I will have no choice but to drive to Staunton now to do my banking but it will not be with the North Augusta branch or F&M period. I ll close my accounts as they care nothing for me and my business, for my community or for the lovely ladies who have went beyond just for the sake of what I need.

Everyone I know will be shutting down their accounts as well once Craigsville branch is closed. If F&M can turn its back on us, we will easily turn our backs to them.

I had an overdraft fee charged to my account for an iCloud storage subscription of $0.99 I had Canceled the subscription though iTunes app but the charge still hit my account. I called apple and they refunded the $0.99 so I called the branch in grottoes,VA to inform them apple had refunded the $.99 and to ask them to remove the overdraft fee of $35.00 since the $0.99 was being refunded. So the $0.99 they had paid to cover that charge was going to be refund to them the manger Ashley did not want to refunded the $35.00 overdraft fee although the $0.99 were being refund to them. So basically they are charging me $35.00 for doing what? If they are getting there money back $.99 that they spent to cover my account why can t I have my overdraft fee removed. I called the corporate office in Timberville and they told me they can t handle refunds although they are the corporate office and should be able to handle refunds and customer complaints. This bank clearly doesn t care about their customers. They only care about making money off of you and what they are doing of charging me $35.00 for $0.99 that was refunded to them is so unethical. I paid my overdraft and canceled my account with them. I am not interested in banking with this bank that only cares about robbing people out of their money instead of treating their customers with Integrity so their customers will stay loyal to them and help their business grow. Instead they want to grow they business by unethically charging fees and By only seeing money signs in front of each customer that does business with them and when a customer complaints they provide bad customer services. I don t recommend this bank to anyone they are so unprofessional and unethical.

I deal with the bank in Craigsville Va I love the fact that it is a bank close to home with people who know you when you walk in the door and are happy to help you. When I found out they were closing it upset me because I live 30 minutes from town and now can t get my check cashed until later in the day or have to wait till the weekend to do it! Some people have no way to get to town and enjoy being able to go this bank close to home and will now have to trust someone to take care of their money for them and pray they don t cheat them out of money! I would love to keep this bank open for the small businesses in this town and for everyone who can t get to town but once a month!

After living in 10 states and extensively traveling the rest of them, I have had my share of experience with the so-called "big" banks. I have left each of them feeling less like a valued customer and more like a nuisance or liability. Since moving our family's finances to Farmers & Merchants, I have never had a moment of regret. There aren't any conveniences they lack, but there are many, many benefits to working with a smaller, local bank.

Time and time again the decision to bank with F & M has proven to be one of our best financial decisions. I highly recommend them, in each of their divisions.

I am a 17 year old enlisted in the Marines. I have an account at F & M in Craigsville. I planned to continue my account and make another to make it easier while I was away.
My mother just informed me that our small town bank is closing because we don t make them enough profit. That small town working people and small businesses like my Aunt has doesn t matter!! We are people we do count and maybe you should go back to your rich people! We deserve a bank that cares about US!!!!

I love my service and the ladies at my Craigsville branch. But I do not recommend F&M now because instead being as community based as they seemed to be they now apparently are more concerned about the almighty dollar.

I know there are other ways that could keep our branch open especially in these difficult times, but it seems full closures means more money in corporate pockets. Meanwhile people in smaller communities suffer the consequences and lose faith in any other bank that will ever come into this area.

A simple solution would be open the bank a few days a week for a set number of hours. Not close it completely!!

Get ready to lose accounts people from this area will not drive that far, some can't, they just won't have bank accounts!!!
