The Exeter Township Volunteer Fire Department (ETVFD) is a non-profit organization that has been serving the residents of Exeter Township and St. Lawrence Borough for over 70 years. The department is dedicated to protecting the life and property of its community members through fire prevention, education, and emergency response services.

Fire Prevention Services

Prevention is always better than cure, which is why the ETVFD places great emphasis on fire prevention services. The department offers various programs aimed at educating residents on how to prevent fires from occurring in their homes or businesses.

One such program is the Smoke Detector Program where firefighters install smoke detectors free-of-charge for residents who cannot afford them or have difficulty installing them themselves. This program has helped save countless lives by alerting occupants early enough before a fire spreads out of control.

Another program offered by ETVFD is Fire Safety Education where firefighters visit schools within their jurisdiction to teach children about fire safety practices such as stop-drop-and-roll techniques, how to use a fire extinguisher correctly, among others.

Emergency Response Services

In case of an emergency such as a house fire or car accident within Exeter Township or St. Lawrence Borough limits, residents can count on ETVFD's prompt response time due to its strategic location across the township.

The department operates with state-of-the-art equipment that enables it to respond quickly and efficiently during emergencies. Its fleet includes engines equipped with water pumps capable of delivering up to 1,500 gallons per minute; ladder trucks that can reach up to six stories high; rescue vehicles equipped with hydraulic tools used for extricating victims trapped in vehicles or buildings.

The department also has a team of trained paramedics who provide emergency medical services to residents in need. These paramedics are equipped with advanced life support equipment that enables them to stabilize patients before transporting them to the hospital.

Community Involvement

ETVFD is not just about responding to emergencies; it is also an active member of the community. The department participates in various community events such as parades, fairs, and festivals where they showcase their equipment and educate residents on fire safety practices.
