Everything Prehistoric: A Journey Through Time
Everything Prehistoric is a unique gift shop that offers an extensive collection of prehistoric artifacts, fossils, and minerals. The store is owned by the Black Hills Institute and its museum, which has been a leading authority in paleontological research for over 40 years. Everything Prehistoric is located in Hill City, South Dakota, and it's the perfect destination for anyone interested in natural history.
The store features an impressive selection of dinosaur bones, teeth, claws, and eggs from various species such as T-Rexes, Triceratopses, Stegosauruses among others. These fossils are carefully curated by experts to ensure their authenticity and quality. Visitors can also find a wide range of minerals such as amethysts or quartz crystals that have been mined from all over the world.
In addition to these fascinating specimens on display at Everything Prehistoric's gift shop visitors can also explore the Black Hills Institute Museum located next door. The museum houses one of the largest collections of dinosaur fossils in the world with over 30 full-scale skeletons on display including Stan - one of the most complete T-Rex skeletons ever found.
The Black Hills Institute was founded by Pete Larson who has dedicated his life to studying dinosaurs since he was a child. He started collecting fossils when he was just eight years old and later went on to study geology at college before founding his own company - Black Hills Geological Research Associates (BHGRA) - which eventually became known as The Black Hills Institute.
Over time BHGRA grew into one of America's leading paleontological research organizations with numerous discoveries made across North America including Sue - another famous T-Rex skeleton discovered in South Dakota back in 1990.
Today Everything Prehistoric continues this legacy by offering visitors an opportunity to learn about prehistory through its vast collection of artifacts while supporting ongoing research efforts at The Black Hills Institute Museum.
