For any of you that are on the fence about committing to a van vacation, well look no further. Because Escape is BY FAR the best campervan rental for any kind of roadtrip you have planned.
I traveled with a friend of mine for a total of 19 days. Through Seattle, Cali coast, through Utah and ended in Denver/CO. Both of us were completely new to van-life so of course studied up before traveling. But Escape couldn t have made our experience more enjoyable, convenient, and more of all: free feeling .
The pick up in Seattle and the drop off in Denver was CAKE. From walking through the van to show us how everything works, to the incredible customer service we received from Amy (at Denver loca, and the other cool gal at Seattle, apologies for spacing on your name friend!).
First off each van has a name. Yes a name. And we appreciated that so much because 19 days in the car, we made a bond with ours! Was nice to refer to him by name (yes we declared it a him haha).
The storage in the van was ideal for all of our things we packed. I will give a word of advice, for those thinking of doing a trip like this, packing cubes are YOUR LIFE. They provide amazing organization all I did was take them out of my luggage (soft luggage btw that fit snuggly underneath the bench when we had the bed set up) and into the storage behind the sink. Perfect amount of space we needed for our clothes/shoes. And then every nook and cranny acted as another space to store things. By day 3, we were pros at Van life hahahh.
The propane stove was incredibly easy to use and it felt great to have the ability to cook whatever we wanted! All we thought about was what would we cook on a stovetop . Possibilities were endless (stirefry, pasta, eggs, toast, oatmeal, hot water, the list goes on and on). The drawer fridge was also really great size, deceiving from the pictures but it for all we needed from breakfast perishables like eggs, cheese, to our water bottles to keep cold
For the road/hikes, and jelly, sauce, etc. really couldn t ask for more space. We kept a side cooler in the van to store fruit you would keep on a kitchen counter but the fridge did it s job well. Even stayed cool overnight and even for days where we didn t have it running (like 48 hours!)
Parking with the van was easy, and it drives like a very large suv maybe a tad larger cause it s long. We had the Maverick model. The only tip I suggest is if you are wary about security in unfamiliar places, just check the garages you are looking at in advance because it does have a height limit. Didn t run into any issues though as long as you plan in advance :)
I could go on and on and on about how simple and easy it was to call Euca (aka Eucalyptus is his name) our home for a month. I will end on another positive note: the bed? COMFORTABLE. WOW I wasn t expecting it to be that awesome. We brought our own pillows and sheets/blankets, just cause you can t be too careful with covid.
But really: everything from how Euca was with us, to the unbelievable ease with booking in advance the van, to the amazing customer service and chill vibes we got from both the girl from Seattle, and Amy from Denver depot, I would recommend and book Escape again in a heartbeat. I cannot wait to book again, and maybe next time, splurge on the top camper!
