About Errin
ERRIN: A Leading Network of Innovative European Regions
ERRIN is a Brussels-based network of innovative European regions that has been promoting regional and local dimensions in EU R&I policies and programmes through its bottom-up approach. The network comprises over 130 members from across Europe, including regions, cities, universities, research organizations, and other stakeholders.
ERRIN was established in 2001 with the aim of bringing together regional actors to collaborate on research and innovation projects. Since then, it has grown into a leading platform for knowledge exchange and cooperation among European regions. ERRIN's members work together to identify common challenges facing their regions and develop joint solutions that can be implemented at the local level.
One of ERRIN's key strengths is its ability to facilitate collaboration between different types of stakeholders. By bringing together policymakers, researchers, businesses, and civil society organizations from different regions across Europe, ERRIN creates opportunities for cross-fertilization of ideas and best practices. This helps to ensure that regional innovation policies are evidence-based and tailored to the specific needs of each region.
ERRIN also plays an important role in shaping EU R&I policies by providing input into policy development processes at both the national and European levels. Through its working groups on topics such as smart specialization, energy transition, digitalization, health innovation or circular economy among others; ERRIN provides a platform for its members to share their expertise with policymakers.
In addition to policy advocacy work at EU level; ERRIN also supports its members in accessing funding opportunities for research & innovation projects through various initiatives such as Horizon Europe or Interreg programmes among others.
Overall; ERRIN is an essential partner for any region looking to enhance its capacity for research & innovation activities while contributing towards shaping EU R&I policies towards more bottom-up approaches based on territorial needs. With over two decades' experience in promoting regional cooperation across Europe; it remains one of the most influential networks dedicated solely towards regional innovation policies.
