Beautiful renovations. To notch, state of the art performance arts center. The quality of the shows is the best around. Quality acting and wonderful singing. You'll never be disappointed with a date at the Erie Playhouse

It was a pleasure being able to experience the Cinderella show with friends. The cast is great, their voices are amazing, and they sound like they were casted by Disney. On top of that, the costumes that were custom created to magically transform the individual from a peasant to a princess really elevates the whole experience. It really took me back to my childhood and 2 hrs of this felt like minutes. Last but not least, the orchestra/instrumentals were just as a vital to make this whole play smooth. All in all, everything came together to create this masterpiece. Will most likely come back to see other plays in the future. Thanks Richard!!

Everyone I have met who is associated with Erie Playhouse had been welcoming and supportive. I brought dogs from The ANNA Shelter to appear in "Annie" and the quality of the sets and props, and amazing talent of all the actors and crew has made our time with them thoroughly enjoyable, and oh so entertaining! I'm now hooked and can't wait to catch future performances! I highly recommend The Erie Playhouse performances for families, dates, or even for a nice solo night out.

Many of Erie's citizens would be very disturbed to find out about a recent that took place at the Erie Playhouse. From the Erie Times News archive; "Matthew Weaver, 33, pleaded guilty in January to one count of indecent assault after he inappropriately touched a 14-year-old boy during a play production at the Erie Playhouse. The former Seneca High School French teacher was sentenced to three months to one year in Erie County Prison, followed by one year of intermediate punishment." Recently the Erie Playhouse has chosen to allow Matthew Weaver back by casting him in the upcoming production of Ragtime. People should be asking why the Playhouse is purposefully allowing someone guilty of a sexual assault on a minor back? Not only back, but also to do a show that will directly expose minors to him. Whose choice was this? Why is the Playhouse choosing to stand behind this man, rather than our children? Most likely no one will be held accountable or punished for this deplorable choice, so I urge the citizens or Erie that care about our children to boycott the Playhouse. To contact their season sponsors, and ask why they are supporting an organization that cares more about criminals, than our children's well being. I would suggest contacting the Playhouse directly, but as they have already shown they care little for the welfare of children, one could hardly expect them to care about the taxpayers that support them.

Years Ago, The "ERIE PLAYHOUSE" used to be known as The "STRAND THEATRE". Across the street was a MOVIE HOUSE known as The "SHEA THEATRE". At The "STRAND THEATRE" you could see Movies like "DOCTOR ZHIVAGO", "THE DIRTY DOZEN" & "TELL THEM WILLIE BOY IS HERE". Unfortunately, The "SHEA THEATRE" OUTLIVED it's USEFULNESS as a MOVIE THEATRE & the Property was SOLD & a Brand NEW Hotel was Built in it's PLACE. But, The "STRAND THEATRE" tried SURVIVING, but The CITY OF ERIE saw SOMETHING SPECIAL & Decided to turn it into a "THEATRICAL SHOWPLACE". Since the CLASSIC "WARNER THEATRE" STOPPED Showing Movies & it BECAME a PALACE for WEDDING'S, WEDDING RECEPTIONS, GRADUATIONS, ANNIVERSARY PARTIES, CONCERTS & Other Special Events, ERIE needed a PLACE to PRESENT Stage Plays & Out of Town MUSICAL Productions. So, The "STRAND THEATRE" became a COMPLETELY REDESIGNED, RENOVATED & RENAMED "ERIE PLAYHOUSE". The "THEATRE" Became a REALLY BEAUTIFUL "SHOWCASE" for Productions like "SISTER ACT", "WICKED", "SHREK: THE MUSICAL", "SCROOGE", "LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS" & other Out of Town Productions. It takes an OUTSTANDING Group of PERFORMER'S in Front & a DEDICATED Group of WORKERS behind the scenes to make this ALL work.

I absolutely love the Erie playhouse! It's a place where everyone is welcome! I really feel st home when I am there. One thing that I slightly dislike is the lack of variety. The children are great, but it seems like for every show staring a group of children is always the same group from the last show. Somehow it's always the same children that get the same parts. I would love it if they gave other children a chance to have a lead role rather than the same ones each time.

We were unaware that this theatre did youth theatre. Their production of Snow White and the Prince was done very nicely. The witch was very good and the kids were also very good. The theatre was easy to find and parking wasn't bad for the time of day. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The shows at the playhouse are entertaining and supper fun! They are well put together and I love taking the family once in awhile. they re so great to watch, and the shows they pick to preform each year are are wonderful and exciting. the staff is amazing and the directors are great at what they do, but I do agree that some of the actors and actresses, in youtheatre and main stage, are being over used . I think it would be great to see new faces playing main roles, and I love to see different people sharing the experience. I also believe that getting a role in a show should have nothing to do with you or your families connection with the directors. Your chance of getting into a show should not increase or decrease due to your personal relationship to the directors or staff. I ve heard on multiple accounts that some children are more likely to get a main role, or any role at all, because their parents are friends with the directors. But over all, I absolutely love the playhouse, I just hope to see different people playing mains in the upcoming shows, and less casting due to personal Relationships.

Great
