The stables are adjacent to the hotel and have friendly and helpful staff and really exceptional teachers.
I loved this trip so much I have booked my next holiday through Equestrian Escapes to the Lake District
I was fortunate enough to win the NHS sweepstake raffle in March for a two nigh break in Cheshire. I stayed at Willington Hall Hotel which was ideally located next to the stables. The room wasn t as grand as I was expecting, but it was clean and comfortable. The staff were very accommodating and came up with lots of meal options to cater for my dietary requirements.
I chose to have 4 private lessons and as I had a non riding partner, these were very kindly put as close together as possible so we had time free to explore.
The riding school had 3 arenas, two outdoor and one indoor, the instructors asked what I would like to work on and I choose to work on my position, lots of work without stirrups! The instructors were very knowledgeable and explained things really well and made you feel at ease. The horses were very well trained and very responsive. For my last lesson I worked on my jumping position and had a go at a really small jump, I haven t jumped in years but the teaching gave me loads of confidence.

I had a brilliant experience that was organised by Equestrian Escapes. From emailing my enquiry to Hatty, and then all the instructions etc, everything was straightforward and they made it really easy to decide on which trip to take. If you're looking for a good quality, verified holiday, where the horses are definitely well looked after and well trained, you can be sure that the places that Equestrian Escapes recommend are top notch.
I have just returned from a wonderful two night horse riding holiday with Equestrian Escapes. Willington Hall where we did our riding were outstanding, from the girls who handed us our horses (sanitized, well groomed fed and tacked up, to the very talented instructor who we loved and lastly the extremely welcoming owner. The area is very beautiful and everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend.

Just returned from an equestrian escape in Sherwood Forest, lovely clean quiet hotel with a nice spa & close to Clumber park for nice walks. The horse riding place was well run, with some very handsome and steady cobs - the lessons and hacks were both excellent and staff very accommodating (we changed our plans twice and they managed to fit everything in). I'd class myself as a happy hacker and I enjoyed it
We had the most fantastic time at Delamere!. The lodge is home from home comfort, stables and grazing fantastic and the horses settled straight away.
The hacking is idyllic from lake forrest rides to the galloping roller coaster of Oakmere way. Cant wait to go back next year! Thank you for an amazing holiday.
We had a beautiful weekend in the lake district at Witherslack Hall. The rides were spaced perfectly and the 2 lessons we had boosted our riding confidence massively. The B&B was excellent, very comfortable and the food was delicious. Can't wait to book again!
