Receptionist is rude! I called to find out when a client will get his State Allowance. She said "I don't what to tell you!" and hung up. This is a sate governed allowance, but they cant tell me when its coming. Ridiculous!

The receptionist isn t very friendly. Was trying to help a friends Mom out, due to her bills not being paid correctly by payee services. They rudely asked what I wanted instead of saying okay hold on a minute please while I connect you. Then she proceeded to tell me to call them back on the following week. It s sad, and I hope they will treat all callers with dignity and respect in the future.

They will help you manage your money by taking some of it for themselves and disbursing the rest for your bills at their discretion. If you need help managing your bills, this is one of the main places to go. Whether its good or bad help is a bit of a toss up because mentally and physically handicapped people need all kinds of special handling and treatment which is very challenging on most levels and especially by such a small sequestered staff of handlers. They used to serve lunch to the public free of charge but they stopped recently. The breakthrough club needs its own spot for review because what i put above is for ess. Breakthrough does so much help for disabled people i cant possibly list it all here. Come in for a tour!

im only writing this because i know some one that has a payee there ,and is almost homeless because they refuse to let her get an apartment that she feels safe in. for some resin they keep trying to put her in a unsafe place on the bad side of town where she do not know any one .right now she got a place picked out, she dose have enough coming in to cover the bills ,and all the utilities and still can cover food expenses ,but yet they keep pushing her to live in a crack house, in my book i think some one need to look in to what kind of place this is. something just not right here. she cant even get her money to buy food until she gives in and moves in to the place on the bad side of town. its been 5 mounts now that she has not got payed any thing. they keep telling her she has no money, but the social security office is telling her shes still getting her S S D I and S S I checks .some body must be putting it in there pockets or some thing.

This is the Church of God of England represented in American, so as being affiliated with the church of God and since the Queen can't see everything Director of the Breakthrough Club, David Kapten does nor is she honestly informed about the clients abuse by client representatives, Marty Quy and other evil members; I'll go ahead and give them 5 stars just because it's British, some of the staff earns an honest living and the patrons are fantastic. This seems to be true at both E.S.S. and the Breakthrough Club. So, kudos to the members and staff of the Breakthrough Club and patrons and honest workers of Episcopal Social Services.

Breakfast served Monday thru Friday 815am to 9am for the homeless and low income residents of our fine city. Homelessness is barely adressed and totally underserved in Wichita Ks but Breakthrough volunteers go above and beyond to make this meal special 5 days a week. God bless u

I was walking along and met a man along the way as I was making my way to Comcare, who tells me he's heading to a place called Venture House to see his payee, so me being interested about community services; I looked it up on Google Maps when I got to where I was going.
I saw the link and did a quick scan and clicked on the first name I noticed, Rachel Newell. I was in a meeting, saw what time it was and realized I didn't have a whole lot of time, new it was getting close to lunch time, hungry, had another appointment and travelled on foot practically every where I went. I had glanced at one of the services Venture House provides, "a hot meal at noon Monday through Friday". One problem solved as to how I was going to get through this hectic day, keep my appointments, and still have time to eat. I sent her an email at 9am, I wrote:

Dear Rachel,

What is the hours, where do you serve the meals, and who qualifies?

Sincerely Yours,

Daniel Moore

She replied at 10:16am, she wrote:

Hello Daniel,

I d be happy to host you in our building.

Our hours of operation for our food outreach are:

No qualification, no restrictions, the public is invited

Let me know when your schedule permits, and I can show you around.

Rachel Newell

Director of Development

I was pleasantly suprised with her response and greatful for her curtious hospitality. I of course went.
I saw severally people, ladies there, but did not know what she looked like. I unfortunately did not have much time for a tour and ask about what all services they provided. I gave the nice lady behind the table my name while she filled out the paper for me to have a meal ticket, I went and sat down and did some much needed work on my phone while I waited in the waiting area.
The food was good, the staff was great and the place felt inviting. I regret not getting to take any pictures, not getting to meet with Rachel Newell, and be able to have time to tour the facility with her. After I finished eating, I stepped out side and sent her an email at 11:35am, I wrote:

Dear Rachel,

Thank You For The Invitation. The meal was good. Sorry to eat and run, perhaps next time I will meet you. I will be sure to give your establishment a good review in the Google Maps community. Thank you again and for what you do here.

Sincerly Yours,

Daniel Moore

After I got home, I plugged in my phone with just a little power remaining; 22% to be percise. I plopped down on the bed and began to type out this review. I reflect on how I came to be this day as I write these words in my motel room:

It is now 6pm, tired but greatful to Episcopal Social Services at Venture House, to all the staff that prepared the meal, served it, and made it all possible. I am especially thankful for Rachel Norwell, who answered my email promptly. She was polite, courteous and professional. If you had not answered your email when you did, just as I was leaving my meeting, I would have ended my busy day on an empty stomach and would not have had any Idea that at the end of the day I would be writing a review about you and your organization.

IF THERE BE ANY WORTHY CAUSE, DO IT WELL, TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY, AND DO IT OFTEN.

Sincerely Yours

Daniel Moore.

About Episcopal Social Services of Wichita

Episcopal Social Services of Wichita: Providing a Breakthrough for Those in Need

Episcopal Social Services of Wichita, also known as ESSW, is a non-profit organization that has been serving the community since 1970. The organization's mission is to provide assistance and support to individuals and families who are struggling with poverty, homelessness, and other challenges.

One of the most notable programs offered by ESSW is Breakthrough. This program provides free breakfast service every weekday morning to anyone who needs it. The breakfasts are served at two locations in Wichita - one downtown and one on the east side of town. The program serves an average of 200 people each day.

In addition to providing food assistance, Breakthrough also offers an employment assistance program. This program helps individuals who are looking for work by providing job search resources, resume writing assistance, interview coaching, and more. The goal is to help people find stable employment so they can become self-sufficient.

Another important service provided by ESSW is the representative payee program. This program helps individuals who receive government benefits but may have difficulty managing their finances due to mental illness or other challenges. A representative payee is appointed to manage their funds on their behalf so they can ensure that bills are paid on time and basic needs are met.

ESSW also offers a variety of other services designed to help those in need. These include emergency financial assistance for rent or utilities, case management services for those experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless, transportation assistance for medical appointments or job interviews, and more.

The organization relies heavily on donations from individuals and businesses in the community to fund its programs and services. Volunteers also play a crucial role in helping ESSW achieve its mission.

In conclusion, Episcopal Social Services of Wichita plays an important role in helping those who are struggling with poverty and other challenges in our community. Through programs like Breakthrough, employment assistance, representative payee services, and more,EESW provides vital support that can make all the difference for someone tryingto get back on their feet.Their commitment towards making life betterfor othersis truly commendableand we should all strive towards supporting themin any way possible!
