The Stelvio Park is a European excellence in the field of sustainable tourism. It is among the 34 Italian protected areas certified as sustainable tourist destinations, 110 in total in Europe, in the Europarc Federation, the federation that groups over 600 bodies managing protected areas in 28 European countries. Recently it has received the CETS, the European Charter of sustainable tourism for the next 5 years, from 2019 to 2023. The European Charter of Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas attests the participatory process of a Park with tour operators with the aim of becoming destinations sustainable tourism.

Stunning mountain scenery. Passo Tonale appears to have developed as a winter and summer mountain resort. There are numerous hotels, bars and restaurants as well as small supermarkets. There are several skiing and snowboarding rental and equipment shops. The mountains dominate the landscape in a spectacular way and feel close enough to touch. Lots of good beginners and improvers ski areas as well as a some more challenging runs for the more advanced skiers. Staff in bars and restaurants appear friendly. Prices are modest except for the mountain restaurants, which is the norm in most ski resorts.

The Iseran is the highest, but the Stelvio is The Must for cyclists and bikers! except when there is a lot of traffic ..... the 48 turns on the Merano side are difficult to negotiate, especially for buses and small trucks.
If you have the "Chance" to ride the Stelvio on a cycling day, stay calm and take your time .....

Absolutely a living. Apart from the main street often crowded with cars and bikes, it is an area where nature is still almost completely unspoiled, the rhythms are human, it is the distant summer heat ... in addition to the countless Italian and Swiss beauties

We were there in the fall. Nice area, great pass for driving. Unfortunately also for campers ... This has become a real plague in South Tyrol. Especially the white boxes with the pensioners at the wheel. Too bad that there is not even something regulated. So it might be. Still nice there. The direction Bormio is but the nicer because it is not so tight. Have fun there

The view and drive are great, however not every car is capable of driving up there. And be warned! Drive carefully!
