Should rate a zero but not an option. Sent my brother home without testing ammonia level. He came in for liver failure, of course his ammonia would be high. Was told to go home and take benadryl. Was taken to front to wait for ride. He started to walk home because he was so confused. My mother was on her way to get him and had told staff she was on her way. Of course he ended up back in er since he got worse. He was taken back to emh by 911 unfortunately. Had my mom not found him, he might have fallen and bled to death or assaulted. Shame on this hospital.

I came into the emergency room today 11/12/2019 an I came in for a horriable sprained right ankle. I was brought back into a room to wait for my X-Ray which since my ankle is so swollen they were generous enough to offer me a wheel chair. After my X-Ray one of the nurses said she was moving me, I had my leg on my coat propped up on one of the chairs in the room with my ice pack on my ankle. Instead of waiting for me to pick my leg up she pulls my wheel chair pushes me to the middle of awaiting room an asks me for the wheel chair. A few momemts later the lady who does my registration was asking why I didnt have a wheel chair to get around. I told her what happened an she said this situation was absolutely ridiculous that I was treated in such a way. This place was one of the best hospitals around an the way the treated me today was upsetting an uncalled for. If I didn t have to drive myself I would have drove out of my way to get help else where. This hospital is going down hill on how they treat their patients. I wouldn t recommend this hospital to anyone

I was having chest pains. Numbness and tingling and dizziness all day. Helped in and out of a wheelchair because of difficulty walking. They ruled out anything immediately life threatening, so with no one to help me handed me discharge papers and and said the fastest way out when you are ready is through those doors to the right. If you need help getter no back to you CAR we can help with that too.
I would not bring a wounded half dead animal here that I did not expect to live. Just saying!

Put it this way, when I thought I was having a stroke....I drove to Cleveland Clinic instead (which is 30 mins drive farther). Unless you want to meet your maker sooner rather than later....my opinion is stay clear.

Absolutely the worst ER I've ever been to. Unfortunately there arent many other choices in the area. They are ALWAYS busy, whether it is noon or 3am. Theres never enough staff to care for the amount of patients. Bedside manners are horrible. They will sit you in an ER bed (once you finally get one) and make you wait for up to an hour before anyone actually comes to see you, then another hour to even be hooked up to IV or seen by anyone. I've been poked repeatedly before demanding they use an ultrasound machine, and they rolled their eyes at me like I was the one who couldnt insert an IV needle.
The only positive thing I have to say about this place is if you are admitted to the actual hospital and get a room it's an entirely different world and they are absolutely wonderful.
If you have a choice, go ANYWHERE but here

They rely on tests to much I have a hernia and the doctors never touch me! Care is terrible no pillow and dirty floors and room. Oh the nurse told me there was nothing wrong when my bp was 198/98 acted like that is normal and not to worry. I new she was full of bs! I used to be a biomedical tech. I told them I took 2bp pills earlier.

After being in so much pain, I called for an ambulance to take me here. The first couple of medical staff were kind. Then I had the unfortunate luck to meet a nurse whom proceeded to tell me she doubted I was in that much pain since I had seen my doctor the day before and he prescribed me some pain meds. Turns out that my disc in my lower spine didn't like his home. After that I didn't hear anything from her again except to ask my name and date of birth. Moral of the story, don't judge before you get all the details just as I didn't give this hospital a bad star review for one person that made me feel worthless.

I waited for 3 hours to see a doctor yet I was never seen by anyone. Worst ER I've ever been to. 2 other people that were there before me also ended up leaving because they weren't being seen either.

In addition to being extremely slow and rude to patients, the ER messed up my medical records. The records office was closed during their normal business hours. If you must go to UH Elyria, I recommend getting transferred as quickly as possible.

I don't know how this place is still open. The worst place ever. Too few workers. Toobfew rooms n beds according to them and they let people walk out with no meds and pneumonia to just die I suppose. After going somewhere else those Drs were shocked that they had let him leave and not help him at all. He could have died.

I came by ambulance after falling and having a spiral fracture in both bones in my lower leg. I thought the ER staff did a great job assessing me. The the orthopedic surgeon ( I looked him up later, he has been rated 5/5 stars on web MD) did a great job putting in a rod and plate and the surgical team was very understanding as I was in a lot of pain. The staff on the sixth floor was great and took good care of me as was the PT who taught me to use crutches so I could be released.

Terrible facility. Unfortunately it's our local hospital, the ER Qtrack is a joke. Signed in at 6.20pm and left at 9pm without even being seen. The nurse was something else, she didnt know how to spell medications. The garbage can was full, over flowing with the pink square bucket thing. Place is filthy, it actually stunk, a mess of a maze to get where your going and SLOW.....It is less than 1 star.

I went in to the emergency room a few days ago because I believed I was suffering from sun poisoning. Naturally, I had a horrific sunburn, but the alarming symptoms that made me go in were: swollen eyes, throat felt constricted/hard to swallow, dizziness, and nausea.

When I went in, the triage nurses, I felt, took me very seriously. Once I was brought into the back, I met my first nurse. He asked me a few questions and told me it's probably an allergic reaction to my medications. Okay, great.

Then, the physicians assistant, Jim, came in and asked me a couple questions. I have encountered him before and each time I meet him (at least three times) he comments on my weight and that he's impressed that I don't have diabetes. At any rate, I usually like his softer approach, but this time I felt like he was very patronizing. He told me "it's just a sunburn," and made me feel crazy for being worried about my facial swelling (could only see about 50% out of my eyes).

After waiting 45 minutes, a new nurse comes in to give me two injections: a steroid and a tetanus shot. None of these treatments were discussed with me prior. She briefly told me what their names were and why she was giving them to me. The MOMENT I declined the tetanus shot, the "care" I received was rude and abrupt. I was discharged within ten minutes of declining the tetanus shot and when I asked for some sort of cream to help with the swelling, I was told by the PA to use aloe. I told him several times that I tried using aloe but it burned and made my welts swell even larger, but he said to use it anyway.

I'm very upset with how I was treated on this day. I'm not an idiot. I'm a grown woman. The way I was treated was so insulting and made me feel like I was crazy. This emergency room in this hospital is the reason people do not seek medical care when something is wrong.

Avoid at all costs or, please, go to urgent care.

Fast track is a JOKE. No patient care at all. All that's missing is a conveyor belt, as they move you from one room to the next and you have to get there on your own, regardless of how bad you feel.
I wouldn't even give it 1 star - since UH has taken over I give it a negative 10.

I have never in my life been to a more disorganized emergency room. My mother in law got in a very serious car accident and was rushed here in an ambulance and when they got here they put her in a chair in the general waiting area! Where we waited for over three hours!!!! Countless patients brought in right through the main doors on stretchers and simply dropped off in the waiting area. Rude staff members whenever we asked a question like we were the inconvenience. I hope I never have to set foot back in this building.

I was taken by ambulance to the ER because of abdominal pain. I had just returned home from an appendectomy with bowel obstruction at Mercy. They gave me pain medicine, the barium drink for an abdominal scan and blood was drawn. Three hours later I was taken to the barium test, where the contrast was no good anymore. I was blamed. They said that I had drank water or gone to the bathroom. I had no access to either.Iwas attached to the wall on a saline drip. It was their delay, talking about personal things, that caused the faulty test. They diagnosed me with another bowel obstruction, and for some reason congestive heart failure. I was sent back to Mercy. They spent four days making double sure that I was ok. The reports from UH were wrong. I will never visit this ER again!!

As all ER's seem to be slow, this one and Mercy seem to be the worst. It is poorly designed and outdated. Last time I went I was placed in the "overflow" wing. Which consisted of 4 psychiatric beds in a locked down room with security.... Staff has always been polite.

My recent ER visit was a good one. I had the best nurse (anna) who was spot on with bedside manner, & efficiency of my care. My BP was the highest it ever was going in & after treatment it was perfect. The doctor was sufficient & did not rush. Thank you UH Elyria ER for getting it completely correct!

Emh emergency room services are lacking in every sense of the word. THEY should be shut down. No compassion, left to sit in waiting room with my granddaughters lip half off her face from a dog bite and just kept being told , with sarcasm, we have no beds, we dont know what to tell you, was their answers.

My adult son, who has a brain injury, went by ambulance to Elyria UH with severe chest pain. The er doctor, did xrayed and bloodwork and told him to follow up with his doctor. My son was crying in pain and begged the doctor to let him lay down. He was told to sit in lobby and get a ride home. After begging a nurse to help him, he was seen by another doctor. The doctor ordered a ct scan. He was at deaths door with massive pulmonary embolisms. In icu for ten days. The nurses and Dr's in icu were great, but the er dr should be fired. If my son would have gone home as instructed, he would have died. This doctor is a liability to patients as well as to the hospital.
