I don't know what sense to have an Embassy review, but I've been there, and there are some things I'd like to tell you.
I had never entered this fortress, there is no longer even the need to apply for a visa to enter the US, therefore, unless you have business that requires it, it is not usual to log on.
My company organized a conference in collaboration with the AFCEA and the Italian-US trade interchange bodies and I was able to visit some areas of the embassy.
The atmosphere of tense tranquility that one breathes in is due to the massive presence of security personnel, of every type and degree. Already outside the gate there is a fixed garrison of Italian soldiers, inside there are private guards, American soldiers and who knows how many plainclothes officers.
There are security checks equal to, if not greater than, those of an international airport.
Inside, the corridors are rather dim, and the halls, though opulent, do not abound in light.
The organization is impeccable, and there are several professional figures who assist the guests, who are never left alone inside the structure.
If you happen to be invited for an event, don't miss it.

I asked for information via email for additional checks that I undergo every time I enter the USA. During the day they replied promptly. But the answer is a little misleading since they answer me that for problems with ESTA to write to another email address (but my problem was not with ESTA but with my identity).

To get information, a registered voice answers that rebounds you from one number to the other, without anyone, in the end answer! What's the point of putting a phone number, if nobody ever answers?

I rate them two stars for two reasons: 1) they don't really care about people, for them it is just a job and you can tell. 2) one year I had an appointment at 9 am and I was called at 12 pm 3) this year they messed up my VISa and I had to pay $300 in Airline tickets to go back in Rome and let them fix their own mess. I was told they have a lot of work and during Christmas there is an overload. A consul interviewed me for 20 seconds literally. I didnt see a very serious approach, they really rush everything and then mistakes happen. One guy in particolar there is super sweet, patient and professional. I would go back there for him only. However, my advice is if you can, go to Florence or Milan. My personal experience there was much better.
Good Luck if you need to reach them by phone, basically not possible, one lady with a very poor attitude will answer and tell you to email them. By emails you receive answer from ghosts. If you ask them who they are for reference they don't tell you their names and/or a code. Nothing.

Another curious fact is that you see military, Securitalia, and the Police all over that area. Most of them are just standing and literally that is all they do. Most of those guards should have a course of how to approaching the public, they can be very rude sometimes. Yes, people ask silly questions sometimes, but it is your job to answer. You should consider yourself lucky to have a job. It would be finally time for Italy to resize the waste of money for the Italian Government with all these unnecessary different military bodies. You don't Grant security with people standing in the same place for 8 hours. my criticism is mainly to the management of these offices, unfortunately I have to admit that they work in the typical Italian way.....sadly!!! I have been in facilities with the quadruple of workload and their efficiency is much better.

The negative reviews on Google must have a meaning. Obviously, we can't be all crazy. But as everything in Italy, nobody cares. Many US citizens were very frustrated too.

Not helpful at all. Our passports, cash, credit cards and cellphone were stolen on Friday night, we didn't get help till Tuesday morning. We had a flight back on Monday early morning, but they refused to provide any help till Tuesday morning. We ended upsatying for 2 more days in Rome, postponing our flight tickets.

The officer on duty said it's very common occurrence, I was like, then why can't you provide some help during weekends, at least for few hours opening embassy on weekends will really help.

Just got out of there this morning. My overall time to process my emergency American passport was about 1.5 hours so I was happy. I had my wallet with ALL my ID and credit cards along with my passport stolen so all I had to show proof of who I was were a passport 'photocopy' and a work ID. That didn't seem to matter. Be sure to have 5 EUR for your passport photo (no coins less than 50 cents or higher than 10EUR accepted in machine so be careful!) and $135 US dollars for your passport fee with you. They did provide change for that. I filled out the questionaire/application when I got there which took probably 10 minutes and the rest really was just waiting. Overall this made my terrible experiences so far of being pick-pocketed much more calming. These people DO look out for us traveling. The great part is even though this temporary passport is only valid for 1 year, I can turn it in toward a brand new one with the 10 year validity for no additional cost. Thank you! I wish government agencies in the US worked as nicely and quickly as here! :)

While walking through Rome our route took us past the American embassy. So, we thought, how cool to have a photo in front of our embassy. We expected to see sharply dressed US Marines guarding it. However, our embassy is well protected by Italian soldiers (thank you very much) and Italian security guards (Pinkertons). So, imagine my surprise when the guard at the entrance forbade me to take a photo. Of my embassy. Especially when I am looking at Google maps and seeing 24 (yes, 24) photos of the embassy, including one showing the very spot I was looking at. Oh the irony.

After having her wallet stolen my friend and I after reporting it to the police went to the embassy. Every single person we encountered were amazing. They have a photo booth to get your new passport picture there for 5 euro and we were in and out in an hour with a new temporary passport good for 1 year. Get there as early as you can it started getting busy as we were leaving . They open at 8:30 AM and they are not open on Saturday or Sunday

Horrific services. When you dial into the main switchboard, it is a massive number of options just parroted off that never address the issue I have. You can't reach a human being to talk to; yet these people are being PAID to provide services to the American public who are in this country. They have the worst RUDE AND UNFRIENDLY attitudes of you're there to serve them w/arrogance and complete and utter lack of concern about Americans and their job they are to do. This whole office should be shut down, restructured and put COMPETENT people in charge who know what they're doing and quit abusing American citizens.

Rarely write any review, I would give 500 stars but unfortunately you can choose 5 max. Today I had the best experience ever with an USA embassy over the phone. Ms. Paola provided an absoultely outstanding service and almost instantaneously solved my issue. In my experience with different embassies and consultations, this is hands down the best interaction I ever had.

I rarely write reviews, I would like to give 500 stars but, unfortunately, only 5 are available at most. Today I had the best experience ever with a US embassy during a telephone conversation. Ms. Paola has taken steps to solve my problem almost instantly, with impeccable service. Among my experiences in embassies and consulates, this is, without any doubt, the best I've ever had.

When my passport, cash, and camera got stolen last week in Roma, the US embassy staffs took great care of me. All I had to do was shown my US driver license to prove ID at out side the embassy, the Italian polizia (they speak fluent English) let me entered without any delay. I did brought my Italian police report, which I had went to Carabinieri at Piazza Venezia because my bag was stolen at the Collsseo and this was the closest polizia station. I got in, no waiting in the afternoon. Got onto the embassy computer, reported my story, registered my US passport was stolen. Pay US$135. Took a new set of passport pictures (6 pictures)=EU5. All in 2 hours, I was assured verbally, and emotionally by very understanding US staffs. I was out with a new emergency passport to come home. I just had to write this review to say to those staffs at Roma, thanks so much for your help. I did got home safely and got back to work on time without delay even through US customs. You guys are the best.

About Embassy of Italy

Embassy of Italy: Advancing US Interests and Protecting Citizens in Italy

The Embassy of Italy is a diplomatic mission that represents the interests of the United States in Italy. The embassy is located in Rome, the capital city of Italy, and serves as a hub for American diplomacy in the country. The mission of the embassy is to advance US interests, promote mutual understanding between Americans and Italians, and protect US citizens who are living or traveling in Italy.

The embassy has a wide range of responsibilities that include political affairs, economic affairs, public diplomacy, consular services, and administrative support. The political section monitors political developments in Italy and reports on issues that affect US interests. It also engages with Italian officials to promote cooperation on issues such as counterterrorism, human rights, trade policy, energy security, climate change and other areas.

The economic section promotes trade relations between the United States and Italy by providing information about business opportunities for American companies interested in investing or exporting to Italy. It also works with Italian officials to remove barriers to trade by advocating for policies that benefit both countries.

The public diplomacy section promotes cultural exchange programs between Americans and Italians through educational exchanges such as Fulbright scholarships or English language teaching programs. It also organizes events such as concerts or exhibitions showcasing American culture.

Consular services are an essential part of the embassy's work since they provide assistance to U.S citizens who are living or traveling abroad. These services include issuing passports; providing emergency assistance during natural disasters; helping U.S citizens who have been arrested; assisting victims of crime; providing notarial services; registering births abroad; facilitating adoptions from foreign countries among others.

Administrative support ensures that all sections within the embassy have access to necessary resources such as personnel management systems (HR), financial management systems (FMS), procurement systems (PS) among others.

In addition to its core functions mentioned above Embassy Rome has several specialized offices including:

- Office Of Defense Cooperation: responsible for coordinating military-to-military engagement activities with Italian counterparts.
- Foreign Agricultural Service: responsible for promoting exports of U.S agricultural products.
- Federal Bureau Of Investigation: responsible for investigating crimes against U.S nationals occurring within its jurisdiction.
- Drug Enforcement Administration: responsible for investigating drug trafficking organizations operating within its jurisdiction.
- Immigration And Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations: responsible for investigating transnational criminal organizations operating within its jurisdiction.

Overall Embassy Rome plays an important role in advancing U.S interests while protecting American citizens living or traveling abroad. Its staff consists mainly but not exclusively from career diplomats who bring their expertise into various fields ranging from politics through economics up until cultural exchange programs which makes it one-stop-shop when it comes down dealing with matters related either directly or indirectly towards United States' interest inside Italian borders.

In conclusion Embassy Rome serves as an essential link between two nations sharing common values while working together towards achieving common goals whether it be promoting democracy around world stage fighting terrorism at home front combating climate change globally supporting human rights locally etcetera etcetera...
