Food is delicious, the facility is clean. The staff is helpful, and fast. They have a ton of options in the menu, they actually accept dogs in the outside part of the restaurant which was unique about restaurants. They have big tables for big parties and they have no problem moving you around of needed when more people come.
We love this place for Sat morning breakfasts! Great place for kids. Food is amazing and the biscuits and gravy are so good they'll make you slap your momma.

We love Elmo's. Great breakfast all day and great coffee, too. The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly. This place gets packed so plan accordingly for time to wait. And it is well worth the wait.

This is definitely diner food, and thankfully I am a diner enthusiast. All of our food came out the way we would want and need, with most combinations of breakfast foods available straight off the menu. Eggs, grits, pancakes, sausage, biscuits - we didn't have one complaint. Prices were fine as well. The bathroom needs a little updating. The waitress was nice enough. Overall, we would come back.
Today was my first time here and it did not disappoint! I was meeting a friend and he ended up not coming so I dined alone. I went about 11am and there was a line and a packed house! Sat at the counter and service was prompt! I ordered an omelette, home fries, and toast. This is my go to meal at new places I venture off too. My order was taken fast and my food came out pretty fast as well. It was delicious! The potatoes were not overly salty nor greasy. My omelette was tasty as well! I will return! Get there early if you want to beat the crowd!

We've been there a couple of Sunday mornings and it's always pretty busy but the wait hasn't been more than ten minutes. The food is good and the atmosphere is very kid friendly. Prices are right and the service has been very good and friendly each time.

SO DELICIOUS! We visited for the first time and the food is so yummy! My boys were delighted to have chocolate chip pancakes for lunch while I enjoyed grilled chicken with sauteed mushrooms. Mine came with 2 sides...i had black beans and vegetarian green beans (special side of the day). Green beans were so good I ordered another round!!! We live in Raleigh, but I can see myself making the drive to Durham to enjoy Elmo's again soon!

Great food in a part of downtown Durham which has been going through revitalization. Parking lot beside restaurant fills up quickly on the weekends, so be cautious about choosing a spot because towing is enforced.
Hit or miss with food. Service was good one time, awful another, and excellent a third. It's good not great
The Greek grilled cheese with chicken and fries was okay. Way too much cheese, and an odd combination (feta and American cheese). I might try breakfast on my next visit.

Love the feel of this diner and the staff is great. I've been 3 times now and the food was decent twice (just a lil bland) and great the other time. Parking can be tough when they are busy but hey it's Ninth St so that's to be expected. Overall I recommend Elmo's. If you like diners as I do, then give them a shot.

Elmo's caught my attention this weekend as we left church looking for a Sunday brunch meal. When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was the location. I love this area of Durham. There is lots of cools shops in the area. you can just park your car and walk and see all sorts of amazing things. Elmo's is cool. Our server was really nice and he made some amazing suggestions on the meal. It was our first time so he allowed us to read through the menu and gave us time to decide. The menu is extensive as they have a lot to choose from. The greatest thing about this menu is they have TONS OF VEGETARIAN OPTIONS!! They even have lots for VEGANS as well. I REPEAT... VEGANS & VEGETARIANS, this place is LIFE!!!! If your a traditional eater and love meats, they have you covered as well. The decor is really neat. Its busy for Sunday brunch so call ahead (if they allow).
The service was amazing. The food was ok. It would have been better if the food was hot. We ordered a waffle,eggs, and salmon patties. The salmon was great. The was was disappointing because of the temperature.

Great breakfast! If you go on the weekend, get there early (e.g. 8 am) or plan on waiting in line. It's kind of a divey place, close to Duke. The parking lot is not paved, and it's kind of hard to get in and out of the lot sometimes. Wonderful place to take out-of-town guests for breakfast.
Great local diner in Durham. The food was excellent and the service was great. It was very crowded when we went on a Saturday morning but even then it was only a twenty minutes before we got sat.

I loved breakfast here! It's hard to find traditional diner food that's good quality. Elmos does that but also adds a little something to make it better! I ordered the Cranberry apple granola pancakes which i LOVED! The compote was so good and I love how they didn't skimp on the whipped cream. It was unique and delicious.

First time at this dinner I was very unpleased with the pricing. For 2 salmon cakes home fries, fruit and a cup of coffee it was almost $18. The original meal was almost $11. They stated adding cheese, onions and peppers made it almost $18.

My man gets the Elmo burger and I get the elmo burger with the best black bean patties!! Onion rings are amazing and everything we've tried was delicious. Quaint interior great service and a wonderful experience!! No wonder Elmos diner is a Durham staple!!

We were very disappointed with the food at Elmo's Diner. It was of very poor quality. The omelette was over filled with bland onions and bell peppers. The pancake was horrible, no flavor at all and the blue berries were disgusting. I will never go back nor will I recommend this place. Bland, Bland, Bland...
