Gotta love Elmo s! Friendly local diner. If you hit the wrong time, they are utterly packed. Do NOT go after church. That s like the thing to do around here: church and then Elmo s. We ve taken to going on the weeknights there s nobody there!

Great that they had vegetarian and vegan options. Nice atmosphere, staff was pleasant and positive, reasonable prices, good food. Will definitely return and recommend.

It's nice to have a place that covers the basics so well: burgers, all-day breakfast, sandwiches, salads, dinner entrees, etc. Comfort food Central!

Elmo's is a go to diner for staff at the Duke medical center, particularly after night shifts. The food is good, the coffee is bottomless, and the service is polite and fast. It's not flashy, just good diner food. Its main feature is it's consistency: you will get a good solid meal here, every time.

I am in Durham often and love stopping in for breakfast anytime of day. The food is delicious and the service is always great! Elmo s has a typical historical diner atmosphere and the location is great for exploring and taking a stroll after dining.

While staying in Durham for medical treatment, I asked my hotel desk clerk to recommend a good local place for brunch. I'm so glad she suggested Elmo's. The food was delicious. The service was friendly. The ambience is local, but they welcomed a stranger and made me feel like family. It was such an enjoyable experience that I bought their tee shirt as a memory.

Great place to meet up with folks when you are not wanting to have everyone over. 1st time there and it has a better vibe than just an old diner.

One of my favorite places to bring the kids when I am not up for cooking. They have lots of good eats there, and all kid friendly. Careful that you pick a good time to go. They can get crazy busy.

Tasty food with an authentic diner experience. There can be super long waits on the weekends. I like that the employees are friendly and the food comes out fast once you re seated!

Their french fries are delicious. Their chocolate cake is a treat.

Undstanding of the wait time being 30mins it was acceptable due to the compliments of a take out customer and the friendly smile when we were checkimg in. When my family was finally called for a seat the waitress did not introduce herslf and she had no patience to talk out the menu with my wife. Another server took over our order and the unnamed server returned when the meals were served. We were given the excuse that it was busy and the server had other tables. That was not a quality customer service response and not only that she was pleasant and friendly with the family behind our table of whom she took her time with not to mention they were Caucasian.

Food was very tasty! I had a kids pasta meal- pretty standard. The rest of my family enjoyed their meal, but the cinnamon apples had a very strong green apple flavour. The staff was very friendly and even traded out sides when my dad was a little picky! It has a really good family atmosphere, though the parking situation was a little crowded.

Fast service, tasty food, comfortable low key environment, sufficient free parking. Their omlete wasn't my favorite (good ingredients, wrong ratio, not enough egg to wrap), but it was still tasty. The eggs sunny side up, bacon, and sausage were perfect!

This was my first time there and it's definitely not going to be my last. Really delicious food and friendly service. Be ready to wait on the weekends cause it gets pretty packed.

Vegans generally don't have many options at a diner, and this was an exception in that they had a few. Not a lot, but enough that I could have breakfast :)

We had a private room for a very special anniversary. We ordered bottles of excellent wine and it was great. They have a wonderful wine cellar. Four plates of appetizers had been ordered. We got one plate and then three about fifteen minutes later. They were great....tuna, steak tartare and two others. Sat down at the table and waited .

We keep coming back for Sunday Brunch. Usually have to wait but the service is excellent and the vibe is cozy. Gotta love it

One of our old Durham favorites, but it was a bit on the mediocre side this time.

Service was great. The Shrimp & Grits Special was excellent. The Baked French Toast with Apples was tasty, but the texture was very mushy. Eggs and bacon were cooked to order. My side of potatoes seemed reheated too many times, but was mostly still edible. I'm guessing they are great when fresh. Will recommend based on the rest of our meals and service. We'll go back again.
