I never usually take the time to do this, but service was so poor I feel I need to vent. Entertainment was fantastic, the one star is for them. Very talented. It was our waiter who let our whole experience down. I had asked for the bill, he had come back to tell me my card had declined. I jumped on to my internet banking to find out the total amount had actually in fact come out twice? When I questioned this, he could not have been less interested and told me it had nothing to do with him. I showed him my bank history and he continued to tell me it wasn t his fault take it up with my bank. Until I actually realised why he was acting that way. He got no tip. We are from Australia and have tipped absolutely everyone on our trip here. In fact we tipped the entertainment (which mind you he was apart of) but the service wasn t good. Our meals were freezing. And the waiter wasn t friendly at all. So we didn t feel the need to tip him. He then threw in my face that he worked for us for nothing. And we didn t tip him. Which backs up my comment about why he was acting horrible to us. Very very disappointing. Instead of using our tip we put in the bucket for singing lessons, this waiter JT should use it for customer service lessons. To top it off he then threatned me with security and tried to escort me out. WOW. Times must be really tough for poor JT.

You go for the experience. It was neat but our seating was really cramped and uncomfortable. My food finally came out after everyone else was done.....I ordered their signature salad. All it was was lettuce, grilled chicken, and other toppings. Food nothing special at all. No apology and staff wasn't very friendly.

OMG... no words can describe this venue. Breakfast while someone belts out amazing show tunes LIVE in front of you then just carries on with their day. The food was delicious and the servers were superstars. It was a pleasure just sitting and listening to the guys and girls sing and interact with the diners. Shame it s soooooo far away that I can t go more often

Here s the small print: there s about 30% chance you d be seated in a table in the 2nd floor that s not remotely close to the happening in the middle of the restaurant. So you pay a premium for food and noise. The poor waitress will tell you she will ask the manager about you moving a seat while you order the food. When you ve ordered it s too late, you can t move. I saw this with all tables around me. I almost feel sorry for the waitresses, those tables will give minimal tip. Totally not worth the wait outside not the money.

My wife and I always come here whenever we visit NYC. Everyone is incredibly talented, the food is great and the service is fast. There is typically a lineup to get in during the evenings, but it is definitely worth the wait.

When coming to the Ellen's Stardust Diner you certainly aren't going for the food. It's not amazing to be honest... however you ARE going to see the talented waiters and waitresses. Even though the line is ridiculously long and the food is meh, the staff is EXCELLENT. I do believe this is a must go... add it to your list and plan to be there for about 2 hours, line included.

This diner is absolutely fantastic! Food was amazing, cooked to order burgers, which mine came out exactly how I asked. The entertainment is great with singing and dancing etc. Wait staff are all friendly and a part of the dining experience. Food is a tad pricey but it makes up for it in the fun, entertainment side of the dinner. Expect to wait a good while outside before getting a table as this is a very desirable place to eat.

We were in a group of 10 and 3 or 4 friends didn t want to have dinner, just deserts. The maneger came into our table, without knowing if we would or not order more food and told us to spend more money there, she said: hi, I saw that u guys are not spending that much. We ve got a policy; 20 dolars per person . We wore chocked, since she was really rude!! In any moment before that they told us about that policy.
Plus the service was terrible, the food was not good and the price was ridiculously expensive for what we were getting. Never going back to this stupid place.

It is a fun experience, good food, two large hamburgers, potatoes, $ 45, personally I had to sit in the center of the restaurant and I was stiff with cold due to the air, which did not let me enjoy much ... ps: I am not nothing frigid.

Quite overrated. The experience is definitely good, the performances are awesome. You can definitely have a good time with friends. The food is less than average though.

And yeah the line outside is intentional. Most of the times they have space upstairs which they dont fill in really quickly. So if you wanna get sweating stay in the line, generally it moves really fast.

Thanks for the unique experience of eating listening to the greatest hits of music.
Don't expect much from the food, but they have the best fries I've ever eaten in NYC.
Very arrogant door security and just wanting to accommodate large groups. Cool and super-excited waiters, it's worth giving them an extra tip to be able to afford their studies.

Good experience, we went soon and there was still a line and it was raining ... But a girl passed by asking: how was it a bar? We asked her and went with her inside. We ate at the bar, they are not comfortable as at the table, but to live the atmosphere of the place is perfect, especially if you save more than half an hour of queue ..
Highly recommended

If you like music it is a good place, entertaining and good food a little expensive but considering that you are in the middle of Broadway it is Ok. Waiters sing different types of songs and interact with you.
You have to like this type of restaurant because it can make you uncomfortable. But overall it is a good place.

4 burgers with fries and re-fill drink were $ 120 (including tip)

It is a lousy restaurant in the food. A plate of hot dog 17 dollars. The waiters are singers and there are some who truly take their work seriously; However, others like the one who treated us was derogatory and very rude to the deal. When he played sing, he passed by without interacting, something that makes this place unique. Regarding food, it is the same as drinking gasoline. Mild and expensive

AMAZING IS ALL I CAN SAY!! We had so much fun eating there and we jammed out to almost every song we listened to.The food portions are huge and honestly so delicious, 10/10 would eat here again if i went back to New York

This is a not good diner because the singing not everyone likes and some of those wannabes need to visit LA because that's where dreams come true and the wait is too long and the singing disrupts everything. It should be like every other diner with fast service and no singing wannabes. Ate there once never wanted to go back.

My husband and I brought our daughter here for her 16th birthday along with her friend and our 14 yr old son. I had heard that the wait is always very long and since it was a cold and rainy Saturday night we were dreading it. When we arrived the line was pretty long and my husband went to ask how long the wait would be and was told one hour. We waited about 20 minutes and the lady who worked there was walking down the line looking for a party of 5!!! We really lucked out! A very lively, fun,and LOUD place! We ordered burgers, nachos, calimari, and chicken parmigana...everyone was very satisfied with their meal. Big portions and very good. Food came out on time and hot. For waitstaff who are performing in between taking orders for such a busy place, they really have their act together. Their system of operating is very good. Prices were good. Milkshakes 12.95...not worth it. The singing was amazing. Expect to be seated very close to other people. Its very tight but still comfortable. They add a 20% gratuity on parties 5 or larger. Also they come around with a donation bucket called "Phil the bucket"... all waitstaff are struggling actors and singers and they ask for donations to help pay for acting, singing, and dancing classes. We donated $20 but you can give whatever you like. A very nice experience. Take a trip there! You wont regret it!

This place wasn't as amazing as we expected. We waited in line for an hour and the place was very crowded. The food didn't taste very good and was more expensive than we expected, but it was nice that they include gratuity to the price. The singing was good and our waitress was very sweet.

A tourist must do. You do have to stand in line outside but it's worth it. Decent food that's over priced and they ask for donations and set your tip already but it's for a good cause. Lots of fun.

What an amazing time...this was our first time there and had our 14 and 7 year old. Super fun and great burgers and shakes!!! The singers are truly professionals! Take an extra 20 for "Phil" "Phil MeUp" the singers tip bucket .... They are worth it!!!

Amazing concept. Incredible opportunity for the waiting staff and a great space to be in. A real experience. Would've given it 5 stars but JACK nearly ruined our morning by being so rude. We were escorted to our table by the door lady and hadn't been served for 25 minutes. I asked the waiter (JACK) if we could order. He said "I'm not your waiter. Find out who your waiter is". Pretty shocked by this, we waited for another couple of minutes before, unprompted, JACK returned to our table and said "You're not my table so i'm not going to serve you. I'm going to go and serve MY tables now". Unbelievably classless for somebody trying to get on Broadway, but hey, our waiter ADAM was absolutely incredible and was awesome on the mic - very much recommended.

Perfect breakfast for the Broadway experience. They only take group reservations of 20 or larger. So get there earlier than you want to eat. The line gets long fast. But definitely worth your time.
