Our mission is to provide prompt and professional emergency services to our community while maintaining a high level of safety for our firefighters. We are committed to protecting lives and property through fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials response, and public education.
At Eldridge Fire Department, we take pride in our state-of-the-art equipment and training programs that enable us to respond quickly and effectively to any emergency situation. Our fleet includes three engines, one tanker truck, one rescue truck equipped with extrication tools for vehicle accidents or entrapments as well as rope rescue equipment for high angle rescues.
We also have an extensive training program that ensures all our firefighters are up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies in firefighting. Our training includes classroom instruction as well as hands-on drills that simulate real-life scenarios.
In addition to responding to emergencies within our community, we also participate in mutual aid agreements with neighboring departments. This means that if there is an emergency outside of Eldridge's jurisdiction but within Scott County or surrounding areas where assistance is needed from other departments then we will be there ready willing able!
We believe strongly in giving back to our community by providing educational programs such as fire prevention classes at local schools or hosting open houses where residents can learn about fire safety tips like smoke detectors installation or how they can prepare their homes against wildfires.
As a volunteer organization without any paid staff members or government funding support; fundraising events play an important role in keeping us operational throughout the year. We rely heavily on donations from individuals businesses organizations grants etc., which help cover expenses such as maintenance repairs of equipment, training costs, and other operational expenses.
