El Gavilan Restaurant Review

The food was okay. It was my first time there and it looked like we ordered the wrong thing bc everyone else's food looked so much better. I will try place again and order something different. The service was okay but where I was seated the servers where standing right next to the table. I believe the servers should not stand so close to takes where people are eating when they are just talking to one another.

Location is good, easy access. Parking is limited so if you want to go for the dancing times either you are early and others will block you or go late and find no parking... plan ahead of time. The service was good, everyone was attentive and helpful. The food was good as well. My only complain will be the drinks, the bartender doesn't know what he/she is doing, we send back drinks and we were not the only table that did that. Stick to beers and margaritas, those were good!

Teresa is the best server ever I would recommend their food specially the steak.ask for her shewill always be there to make your experience wonderful

Horriable service . Will not be coming back. Servers were rude and were not able to split the check for us . Never been to a place that is not able to split the check for thier customers .

In Long Branch this is the go to spot for El Salvadorian and Tex Mex. Authentic food, live music, and a full bar gives EG the edge over El Golfo and Samantha's.

I asked for a Salvadoran hoe and they gave me a piece of meat that looked like a stone when I told the waitress that the meat was hard ... she told me in a way to humiliate me that if I wanted a good meat to buy a more expensive not a varata I told him that the only reason I asked for Salvadorian hoe was because the place is Salvadoran and wanted something similar to what they prepare in El Salvador, the simple fact that the meat is cheaper on the menu does not give reason to that the meat is very hard Like a stone ... she with a stinking attitude told me that when she prepares hoe she prepares rib steak that did not eat varata meat then I kept quiet because my claim for hard meat would not take me anywhere with the waitress's attitude

This is my absolutely favorite restaurant. I've been to many other tex-mex places and they pale in comparison to El Gavilan in Silver Spring. The food is amazingly flavorful. The fajitas are my favorite. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The service is great, and the atmosphere is family friendly without being corny or cheesy.

Too pricy (for a non fancy place!!)overpriced for the quality and amount of food they give the rice and beans are proportion to less than a spoon. The steak taste ok but not the typical carne asada I'm used to.
Pupusas looked and taste authentic but again they barely give enough cabbage slaw and they actually put the tomatoe sauce over the slaw, if you desire more of either slaw or sauce you must call on a waiter to request more will increase my s if they make improvements on a future trip.

I went for a fish and I did not regret excellent service and food better than you can imagine

Awful. I ordered from doordash and the person kindly called me apologizing that the cooks didnt have my food for some reason. This ain t the dashers fault since the food wasn t ready n was mixed around.

last night was the first time we visited this restaurant. But It is surely not the last. We had great time with the courteous service, with the excellent dishes and fine drinks and with the comfortable payment. We will surely return there soon.

It is a nice place to eat the atmosphere is nice a very good service.
But I think that your food leaves a lot to owe it does not have the flavor you need.

This place is the bomb! I always order the fajita dish, I can't remember the exact one that I get, but you can't go wrong with any of them. You just have to experience it for yourself. The food is banging, no other way to put it.

The food is amazing. Everything was so good. The waitress and owner are so friendly. I'm just not a fan of the parking. But despite that.... they've gained a customer. I will be back. It's a family oriented place.

I used to like this place, especially their "carne a la salvadorana" but this time I lost my appetite. The greens from the side salads from all 3 meals were mixed with rotten and slimy ones, that probably means they dont rinse them... The shrimp was dry and steak was overcooked. I'm just really disappointed and disgusted that they sent this out for someone to eat. Last time ordering from here. Photos posted.

As of the time of writing this, I had a great experience eating at their outdoor setting. Ive been coming here since I was a child and the food is great as ever! Highly recommend if you're looking Salvadoran and Mexican dishes! Their fajitas are some of the best I've had!

The attention is acceptable. Although the presentation of the food is good as is the place. The food is not good since it desepts the endings. They don't serve you exactly about the menu and the end of the meats either.

If you are carrying babies, I do not recommend this place.
They do not count but not with a chair for children much less for babies.

The food is rich, but some waitresses are not friendly, they always make a mistake in the bill, they put extra food later if they correct it but they charge more, apart from that they charge 18% tip, or tip whatever they want to call it on 18 % they charge.
