I wish there was a separate platform to review the Early Education program, but unfortunately there is not.

While this is embarrassing for me to share, I feel it s necessary to protect and inform other families. I pulled my son from the daycare program abruptly. My son had a bruise on his bottom which my husband and I noticed and discussed with our other children. His 6 year old sister admitted to being rough with him and hitting him after he bit her. We addressed this with our young child, and didn t consider that any aftermath would incur as a result of an already rough 2 year old boy having a bruise on his bottom. We sent him to daycare. The next evening CPS arrived at our home inquiring about the bruise on his bottom, questioning my 9 and 6 year old as to whether they felt safe in our home and mandating that we take our son for a safe care visit at the ER where he subsequently spent the next day and was required to have a urine test, blood test and a full body X-ray.

I was mortified. We have attended the same daycare program for two years. Our son is happy, friendly, well groomed and very smart. Not even a single conversation occurred with us to this regard. We were told, when my 2 year old child was asked about the bruise he answered the same way he did with us and said his sister hit him. The staff continued to question him repeatedly and he finally answer differently. The Director, Susan, escalated the situation and contacted CPS. His teacher told us during the interrogation of my 2 year old he also began to say yes to every question asked because he was either bored or confused.

No one from the Y ever contacted me nor my husband to advise CPS had been contacted. The CPS rep told me she attempted to call. The phone number provided to her by Ms. Susan was incorrect- I believe deliberately- despite the fact that we were required to fill out paperwork with all of our emergency info over 1.5 months earlier. When I asked Susan for the hard copy of the paperwork I filled out she couldn t find it and condescendingly told me I was just looking for a reason to be angry. I m sure any parent would agree being falsely accused of abuse and spending a day out of work with a 2 year old in the ER for arbitrary testing is a reason to be mad . I explained I understand mandatory reporting and I appreciate them for the job they have to do and asked what the next step was. Despite ample opportunity (I visited twice after this incident and phoned once) to make the situation right, Susan continued to state that she followed the policy and made no attempt or effort to fortify the relationship after this occurred to ensure I felt my child would be well taken care of. She quite simply didn t care.

Next I escalated to her boss, Lena, and neither of them once asked how he was or seemed to care that the allegations of course were unsubstantiated and all testing came back clear. Neither party felt they owed us even a meeting or conversation on moving forward and seemed to think pretending nothing happened was acceptable customer service. It s clear they re both happy to collect your weekly dues, but have no real compassion or concern for the families they work with and no desire to ensure a positive working relationship nor uphold the Christian values The Y claims to represent. The teaching staff is wonderful, but the leadership is lacking and not driven by common sense nor warmth. It s no coincidence that his teacher Maya- who advocated for us during this nonsensical witch hunt- left the Y for a better position shortly after this occurred. We were also made aware that the staff has escalated actual concerns of health and safety issues to leadership and no reports were ever made to CPS; leading me further to believe these reports were not only discriminatory in reporting, but made in ill intent. Best of luck to anyone who is drawn into this facility by the lower cost tuition. This ordeal has been devastating and I would hope no other family would ever go through such a thing. *edited to fit see full review on Yelp*

The YMCA is recreational establishment for ALL people. I participate in multiple exercise classes, swim, and partake in special events. My grandson takes Tae Kwon Do classes there weekly, swims, plays basketball, and LOVES it all. Most of all I'm impressed by the diversity of membership, and how there is a program for every need, and skill level. The staff is always friendly and receptive to new ideas. It has become my 2nd family/home, and I'm thankful to have the Edward Jones YMCA in my backyard. I'm active, fit, and socially involved in my community in large part because of the Y. I commend the YMCA for its leadership and exceeding my expectations. Try it out with a FREE pass today!

The kids have a lot of fun here. Summer camp can be crazy, but my boys are worn out at the end of the day. Swimming pool is nice, water slide, whirlpool, hot tub, swim lanes, water splash park. Work out area is a bit small but gets the job done.
