I currently attend Eastern Christian and I think it is a good school. While it is true that it is much harder to achieve a good GPA due to the rigorous grading scale. When EC graduates apply for college the colleges are contacted by the school. The school will tell the college about the grading and what the GPA would be in public school.

This school has the most outrageous grading system I have ever seen in my life. An 84 is considered a C which does not work in the favor of the students at all! So when a student earns the grade of an 84 it is calculated into the GPA as a C. When applying to colleges, this is a huge disadvantage because the GPA is now comparable to other students from other schools who only receive a 75. And on top of that, if you are looking to get your child into a top tier university, a lot of those top universities will not even consider or accept your application if they see the letter C on there. Personally, as a parent, I believe it is better to send your child to the next town over to receive a Christian education at Hawthorne Christian Academy, where they are actually considered a college preparatory high school. But if you want the gpa of a 2.0 when you really earned a 3.0, I suggest Eastern Christian.

Eastern Christian saved my daughter's education. After trying to make it work in the public school in Hawthorne and having issue after issue we made the decision to apply to EC and it was the best decision we have ever made. From the minute I called the school everyone was helpful, kind and informative. My daughter no longer dreads going to school and, in fact, looks forward to it. To see her happy and enjoying high school and making new friends has touched my heart. I can't say enough to recommend Eastern Christian schools. If you have any way of sending your child I say do it.

Well, I'm going into the 7th grade. And I was wanting to know where Joe Jonas went to college, so I searched it up, and it said Eastern Christian High School. I was thinking it's was a "High School." But I searched college. I'm I guess you could say "in love" with Joe Jonas and I want to get the same education he got. I live far away from New Jersey , so I could probaly never get to go to school her. But I can always dream. My parents always told me to dream big, so that's what I gonna do.

The fact that students can earn up to 22 college credits while attending ECHS is amazing.

After much consideration and prayer, I feel that it is my duty as a mother and a Christian to bring awareness and truth to the experience of a Hispanic student and parent at Eastern Christian High School. It pains me to say that although we entered with high hopes and expectations, the overall experience for our family, especially my child, was horrific. This school thrives on proclaiming encouragement, fairness, and unity, which were the reasons why we applied when we initially did our research. But, ultimately, in the end, our child was subjected to constant discrimination by the students and the faculty simply because of their ethnicity. Mind you, I have never written a review, which is why I had so much hesitation in writing this, but, my heart would not be at peace if another student were to apply to this school blindfolded, as our family did. I would like to illustrate a few examples of what our child went through:
1. Firstly, our child was constantly accused of something or singled out in the classroom. For example, my child had 3 offenses to their name that weren't even true. As a senior, they had to go back to their freshman dean in order to clear their name of these false offenses. Another example is that my child had to graduate without knowing their Advanced Biology grade because the teacher accused them of plagiarizing. My child had to deal with all of this, instead of enjoying their prom and their graduation, when they were innocent the whole time.
2. Secondly, my child was anything but encouraged. For example, as soon as my child proclaimed that they wanted to be in the medical field, it was immediately questioned simply because they have a Hispanic last name. The details of our family were even questioned; whether their parents were from the U.S. legally, whether their grandparents were from the U.S. legally, whether any of their relatives actually worked, etc. This stands out because no Caucasian student was asked this, even though I am sure that many of them have immigrants in their family as well.
3. Thirdly, and this is honestly very sad to even say this, but it is the truth. My child was called a slave and was constantly told that their family and they themselves will be deported and SHOULD be deported. All of this simply happened because President Trump was elected. My child was even told to go back to the sugar cane fields where they belonged. Aside from my child's experience, several African American students experienced similar things according to my child. They too were called slaves by other Caucasian students and were told to go back to working in the cotton fields. When I heard this I was completely stunned and disgusted. How can children be enduring this in the high schoo and not one teacher or faculty member say anything to stop it? Finally, one of my child's teachers overheard them talking about it in her class and she urged my child to make a report to the principal. When my child met with the principal, they were asked for ALL the names of EVERY student that was being racist. My child could only name 4, and the principal said that that wasn't helpful. How was my child supposed to know every name of every racist student in the building? So, because they didn't know all the names, nothing was done to the four that were mentioned aside from a meeting and a banner that stated "WE ARE UNITED" was hung from the school wall, as if that was supposed to solve all racism at EC.
I hear all of these videos of Caucasian students saying how encouraging Eastern Christian was for them and I see so many reviews on the same thing, but where are the reviews and statements from the minorities? The ones who struggled in this high school's community? They don't ask any Hispanic or Black student because they know it will not be the review that they want. So, if you are looking for a high school that will discriminate against your child, constantly accuse them of random accusations, and discourage them from any positive goals, then Eastern Christian High School is the school for you.

What I love best about Eastern Christian is the holistic education. Not only is my son receiving great academics with experienced teachers in small classes, but he also has the chance to participate in community building activities (such as SOAR) during the school day. And of course, all aspects in the life of the school are focused on growing the students as disciples of Christ and nothing could be more important.
