Beautifully decorated and huge selection of beers, we almost had a good time here. It's bang in the middle of tourist city so a huge turnover of customers, but frankly not enough staff. We waited for ages to get another drink, eventually having to leave - but our table was snapped up instantly, so I guess nobody cares who gets the next drink. Better than a 3 star but not really a 4. We were going to get some snack beer food, but here it's all about quick and easy, rather than quality. Everything served came straight out of a packet, box or jar. The 'yard of ale' style novelty (you traditionally have to give a shoe as a deposit) was fun - but unfortunately the lack of service and disappointing food did let it down

Best place to take a 1.2L beer in a 90 glass which takes your shoe as a guarantee, because a long time ago the people used to steel those glasses. Good prices. 500 types of beer. Awesome staff. Very quick service. Full of people. Best bar I have ever been into.

Great place for beer! 507 different type of beer and nice bartender which is always ready to such as which beer is good! Expensive but it's a worth to try for sure! I will recommend highly! If you don't know which beer you should try for first time, ask the bartender and he will suggest very well!

I love this place very much! I recommend everyone to go there because it is a cozy and cheerful place in which you can enjoy it together with your family or friends while you are feeling yourself like in a medieval epoque due to the decoration. You can see the jars of on the top of the ceiling, different biers pictures belonging to different eras and upstairs you can see a small white horse and Medieval flags! You are not going to find a place like this anywhere! It is unique. It has 500 varieties of Belgian biers and the Trappist is the famous one.

Whilst this bar could easily fall I to the category of 'tourist trap', it is nice to see that it had local patrons and great chemistry between the people working there. 500 beers is an impressive choice! If I lived nearby I'm sure I would work my way through them all in a few months

Just what you expect a Belgium pub to look like, very quirky inside as your eyes take in the assortment of brewing and drinking paraphernalia stuck to almost every surface. A good selection of beers. It has been called a tourist trap, but there were a few locals in during our visit. I managed to tick off several Belgium beers that were on my list (1001 beers you must try before you die) and ended up with a local dark beer in a tall glass, it was roughly 10 for the beer, they take a shoe/boot as a deposit for the glass, which they place in a wire basket and hoist it up to the ceiling. This is not because it stops you walking off with the glass, but because it would cost you 90 if you break the glass and you can't run off without paying.

Very Belgian, very quirky, and a lot of good trappiest beers to try. Like everyone else, we also had the fascination to "loose a shoe" and sip on our beer through their long necked glass. The cost of replacement is steep and watching the beer hurtle towards you through the neck of the glass is thrilling. An enjoyable pub with some good conversations thrown in with the locals.
