UPDATE #1: I finally noticed and called the phone number they've responded to other reviewers with, and this time instead of someone in India or another country as with the phone number on the bill itself, I got an American named Krista who was able to tell me a bit more about what the holdup is - something about a 0 missing off a code on the claim. She was perplexed that the claim hadn't been resubmitted with the correction after I've called 3 other times over the past 3 months. She also had no idea about the phone number on the bill reaching an outsourced call center - she thought that number was the one she was answering for! But it wasn't, so it sounds like even some of their employees are being kept in the dark. Anyway, she sent the corrected claim to the fax number, and...
UPDATE #2 It finally got processed through my insurance! So, use the # they provided others here, not the one on your bill! It still shouldn't have been THIS HARD, but I'm glad it finally is resolved.
Original: I have been dealing with a bill from this company for over 2 months now! And it's messed up because I met my deductible last year before when the date of service was for, so I shouldn't receive a bill at all. The first time we (my spouse and I) called about the bill, this company claimed to have already attempted to submit a claim to my insurance and had it declined. We again gave them my insurance info (that Lake Health has confirmed they had already relayed to them correctly - and I have two successful claims for that DOS from LH as proof that the details were correct!). And we were told it would take UP TO 45 DAYS, basically just for them to decide whether they were going to send another claim to my insurance. My spouse made a comment about not wanting to have to get an attorney involved, and this company's rep LITERALLY laughed at us and said, "Thanks for the empty threat!" That just proves that they KNOW exactly who they're targeting!
A month later, they still had not submitted the claim, so we got my health insurance company on a 3-way call with them. They were brazen enough to tell us, with the insurance rep on the line, that they had tried to submit the claim again and that it was declined - a statement that the ins. rep immediately refuted. Then, the ins. rep DIRECTLY told them the fax # to send the claim to... and again, this company's rep, Laurie V., told us that she'd relay that info to their claims department. (Why weren't we able to directly talk to that dept and have them submit the claim then and there?!)
Laurie V. said it could take ANOTHER 45 days again, and again she said she'd "suspend" my account for that timeframe (but was unclear about what that even means besides them not sending a bill during that time). By the way, the first bill we got in Jan says "Balance Forward" on it, suggesting that they sent a previous bill (they didn't). So, I have to assume that they're counting from probably Dec 2020, which was now 3 months ago.
I am aware that medical bills cannot be sent to collections until 6 months past first billing, and at this point it feels like Drs Hill & Thomas Co are trying to run out the clock on that. It truly feels like a case of extortion, especially since they've already made it clear that they know we can't afford to sue them, wherein I worry that they will make us pay this bill under threat of, "oops," sending it to collections in June after 6 months will have passed. Based on all these other reviews (and word-of-mouth from friends and family who've dealt with them before too), I don't trust them not to do that, and I just want this bill to get taken care of already! Why does this have to be SO DIFFICULT?!?
This isn't fair that they're putting us through all this. (As of today, I tried calling again with my insurance rep, and no one was even answering.) I don't think Lake Health should be contracting a 3rd party with such billing practices. I have told LH about all this and that I no longer feel comfortable using their radiology services at this point because of this.
