Ashley and Steward towers both have extremely bad ...
Ashley and Steward towers both have extremely bad management. We have had bad experiences with both.
Ashley Apartment Experience: They do not know how to deal with prospective clients. To an extent where they tell u rates change weekly and they change the rate overnite when you are ready to sign the lease next morning. We felt so cheated. We were told the overnite rate increase was part of weekly "concession" rate change. This people I guess are uneducated as "concession" refers to decrease in value not increase. Must say the guy named "Waldo" who showed us the apartment was very professional and welcoming.
Steward Towers: Famous for changing managers every year . Apparently because they hire rude unprofessional ladies every single time successfully. We stayed here in 2011 , stay was safe and secure but dealing with management a horrible affair. I am pregnant in 2015 and looking for an apartment. Wanted to go back to check in steward towers as I felt it would be safe place to raise my kids. We go in, check the apartment and filled the application (fee is rip off compared to$30:00 other apartments charge) . We also gave security deposit of $300 a month before the actual unit was supposed to be available and ready for us to move in. Unfortunately I got admitted in emergency and was told complete bedrest which ofcourse changed our plans to move. Called the apartment and informed them about the medical emergency situation and went to meet the manager and talk about it. Miss Lenita Miller, a woman who has no smile on her face greets us raw. This woman does not offer us a seat ( m 8 months pregnant and visually tired and panting for breath). I smiled and start asking if the message was conveyed about us not being able to move and if we can get our security deposit back. The woman like a parrot started blabbering about how the apartment was in loss and my security deposit will now be used to cover the loss. She went on to compare the situation with already living resident who would be sued even if they were hospitalized and unable to pay their rent. First of all this woman has no sense of compassion or sympathy towards anybody's situation not to mention the hideous reference she made. M still composed and trying to figure out the exception in emergency cases and she continues to throw me off in her rude mannerless tone. Did not apologize about the situation or nothing. She was just ready to fight one sided. She needs to realize that not everyone comes there to fight. I wish she would have been more understanding and helpful towards the whole thing. She made me feel like me getting admitted in the hospital was my fault. It's pathetic. But she wasn't ready to cooperate at all. Through Google I figured out that according to the law no property management cannot keep your security deposit if you have not signed your lease. I am going to fight this in court as I don't think it's fair to me and my family that Dreyfuss management keeps my $300.00 security deposit without us even signing the lease. I am damn sure there are exceptions to medical emergency cases such as mine where the property must release the funds. Property business must accept and be ready for any unforeseen loses if they want to be in market. You cannot charge and snatch people's security deposit to cover your prospective loss when the product or service hasn't even been delivered. I don't see if they can survive market with this attitude.
My advice to people: please do not commit the application fee or security deposit until a day before you move in. This people will eat up your money shamelessly
