I do not recommend Doyle Plumbing, Heating & Cooling

Our well pump failed early Monday morning. We placed a call in to Doyle and had someone to our house by 8:30am that morning. Tom is very knowledgeable and didn't mind me asking a lot of questions and watching some of what he did that day along with his excellent apprentice. It was approx -15 degrees and they had the well cap off, and the old pump ripped out in about 30-40mins. The whole job took them about 5 hours, but that included diagnosing the problem, replacing the well pump, the pressure tank (both 22 years old) and control box, as well as installing some additional filtration housings, pressure gauges and shutoffs for me.

At the time I was a little overwhelmed with the price tag for all this, but having called around, I can validate that their price was actually less than another quote I received for the same scope of work. The well pump itself was pricey at $1800 but I'm told it's one of the better pumps out there and the price was inline with other companies. My only suggestion is that it would be helpful to know before the job really gets going how much it's all going to cost...and on the invoices they should split up labour and materials so the customer knows how much the equipment costs - rather than just giving a lump sum price at the end of the day.

All in all a nice tidy job, friendly guys, fair price, prompt service and good advice. Much appreciated.

My bulk propane tank was leaking and emitting an odour at my cottage in Haliburton and Kelly's Propane dispatched Doyle's Plumbing to investigate. HVAC Technician Nehemia Graham attended promptly and located the leak quickly and efficiently, he even let me watch his techniques and explained the issue to me in a friendly and co-operative way. I was very pleased with Nehemia's interpersonal skills and he is a credit to Doyle's Plumbing. I give a top rating to Jeremiah and his company!

Plumbing Services - 5 Stars
I had a leak in the basement that was causing major damage. A gentleman named Chris came and found where the leak was coming from, in my wall. He fixed it right away. I have used two other companies before and it was never found or fixed. Ask for Chris.

Furnace Services - 0 Stars
Well I must say if you are using these guys for a furnace maintenance, don't. I tried to use them four times now and every time it's a no show. 1st time it was between 8am and 10am, I cancelled at 5pm. 2nd time it was 11am to 2pm, I cancelled at 7pm. 3rd was 11am to 2pm, I cancelled at 7pm again. Last time was 8am to before 11am, I cancelled at 1pm. I purchased my furnace from Doyle but I can't even keep it under warranty because they won't come.

Unhappy!! Please do your research. Other companies offer NO CHARGE service calls. Only reason I gave them even 2 stars was because the technicians were friendly and professional. Very hard to get a big company like that to bend a bit for an unhappy customer. I am in the client service field and sometimes you just have to bite the bullet to help ensure future business and keep your good name. Obviously my future business wasn't important enough for them. (See email below that I sent..got no response. Rude).
"I contacted Doyle as you were recommended to me by previous clients. I was advised of the $145 service charge and that was fine. 2 gentlemen came over, very professional and friendly, no complaints there.
(FYI....The problem was no water coming through the shower head after the water was turned on and the knob was pulled out).

They took one look, determined that the valve style was obsolete, unscrewed the diverter, checked the supplies in the van and confirmed they would not be able to find a replacement. It would require a full replacement of the valve at $950 plus hst! I told them I would be in touch as that was much higher than anticipated.
I had a very difficult time accepting that quote and called on a friend who is a plumber with Durham Region, for a second opinion. I sent him a picture of the valve, he took it to his regular plumbing parts store, got a replacement diverter and replaced it for me for $60. All from a picture!! Which I have attached.

I am EXREMELY disappointed that such a reputable company would be so quick to offer replacement without putting a bit more effort into actual repair. My friend advised that yes, it was an older style valve and the diverters are known to break when older, but obviously parts CAN BE OBTAINED. I am also angry at myself for not doing my research and finding that there are other very reputable companies that offer NO CHARGE service calls. I am angry at the fact that I had to pay $163 for 15 minutes of minimal work.
I need to know if this is standard practice for your company (Google reveiws, while generally positive, certainly seem to confirm that).
Or was this a serious lapse in judgement/customer service on the part of the technicians. I would have been fine paying the service charge if it had resulted in a more acceptable outcome. That quote was completely unacceptable and proved to be unnecessary and incorrect.
I would very much appreciate a reply as well as reimbursement of the charges as a sign of good faith. I hesitate to use your services in the future and at this point, would prefer to direct others away from your company.

Talented techs but their scheduling people are ridiculous. Stalled us for 3 1/2 days with no water at all. Just lots of excuses.

I had to use both heating and plumbing service's in the last 3 weeks.
Jake looked after my heating issue and had to come twice, he was here on time, was extremely helpful and very professional.

Nick, looked after my plumbing issue he was on time and very professional.

We were away on vacation when our neighbour contacted us saying our sump pump was not working. I asked him to find someone to fix it ASAP. The next day he said he called around to local plumbers and that Doyle was the only one to return his call. He said he was very impressed by the promptness of their service that day, saving what could have been a disaster and that they continually kept him updated on their progress. When they finished, they explained everything they had done and asked that we follow up with them when we returned. They made payment very easy and calling them upon our return we were able to have them come over to explain everything to us as well. I am very impressed with their customer service and have asked them to do some other plumbing updates I have been putting off.

I called Doyle today for an emergency call because our well pump quit working. Your team arrived in the afternoon and got us back up and running again.
They were professional and courteous but most importantly they arrived when they said they would, replaced our pump and had the work done quickly.

I just wanted to thank you for your help, and just the simple fact that you even came when we called is above and beyond most repair and contractor businesses these days. 3 calls to other 24 hour plumbing businesses never even contacted me

I was very pleased with the service I received from Doyle Plumbing today. Darrin was knowledgeable, courteous and professional. He completed the repairs to our air conditioning explaining the issues as he went.

I've had to use these guys for several big residential jobs around Peterborough including a sewer main and basement bathroom reno with sump and back water.
Chris was great and very knowledgeable on code and gave me various options to choose from. All the other guys were polite and respectful.
Quality service at a reasonable price from my point of view.

Dealt with my plumbing nightmare quickly and effeciently with great service. Mike from Doyle plumbing was friendly and extremely knowledgeable and professional. Would recommend him and Doyle plumbing to everyone.

Shane and Gage came out on Friday to fix a leak in the plumbing of my camper trailer. They were both courteous, got right down to the job, knew exactly what they were doing and took the time to show me what the issue was and explained how they were going to fix it. They showed me the old parts and what caused their demise. They also made sure I was comfortable with the new pipes and even drew on the pipes so I would be able to reference the purpose of each. Great service. Great experience. Thanks to you both. MB

This is quite possibly the first 1 star review I have ever left on Google reviews. I'm not even sure where to begin. If you are looking for any well or plumbing services done in the Kawarthas, I would EXTREMELY advise looking elsewhere. I will try and keep it short with the main focal points (but even that may be tough). The following is why I would recommend staying clear of this company's services:
- initial quote was clearly made to land the job. Quote was almost 2x the quotes price.
- plumbers on site said the jobs aren't "measured properly on quotes"..
- Do not work full days if they complete partial job. They like to "bill desperately" for the different items installed.
- The waterlines were installed incorrectly (this is the only thing they came back to fix)
- Exposed our well line to install a pitless adapter (dont even believe the on-site individuals were well licensed), and installed it ABOVE the frost line. After they back filled the line, they brought any issues to our attention and said it could be done as a "sesperate job".
- Installed our UV system so the UV light is blocked from being removed. The Whole unit now has to be removed off the wall to replace the bulb every year!

The real sad part is this company used to have a fantastic name and stand behind their work. With several additional "crews" and trucks the quality of services has dropped tremendously. Everyone I have spoken to who dealt with Doyle recently has had nothing short of a nightmare.

For the sake of your wallet, and your dignity, please stay away. I wish I could have seen a review like this prior to hiring them.

Nehemiah Graham, just installed a hot water unit at our home and did a great job. Would absolutely use Doyle plumbing again.

If there were a no star option, that's what I'd use! Buyer beware!!! Their website states free estimates but they charged me for a service call just to quote on a job! Originally billed me for $164 and reduced to $112 upon complaint. Their estimate of $1200 was repaired by another plumber for $200. No wonder they have no trouble coming out to your house fast ... but not worth their deceit or padded fees!

Great service - professional and polite from start to finish. Greg Weir, called ahead, arrived on time, explained the what and why of service. We were pleased to hear that we can ask for him when ever we need Doyle service. It is nice to have the option of a consistent service technician. Thanks! - Leslie and Tracy D

Bigger is not better. Called office early to arrange for plumber to attend. Advised telephone operator what the problem was. Service rep was to have attended late morning early afternoon. When plumber called they had been provided incorrect problem information by their telephone operator. Service call rescheduled for early evening. The telephone operator called at 4:20 pm to advise they could not make it until the next day. No water, one day off work (lost wages) and all we got was "all I can do is apologize". Not good enough. We contacted a small local plumber who came out within an hour and repair work took half an hour. Manager called next morning . Advised him that for all of his 30 plus trucks his company still couldn't do the job. No ownership of substandard performance.

Silly me. I carried through on the "Owner's" invitation to contact them "... to discuss this further." I did and I left a message for the "Owner" and am still waiting for a return call. BTW the "owner" does have a name. I believe it is called Brant. Like the goose.

Michael Page responded to a call at my house an immediately impressed me with his skills and professionalism. He went above and beyond his means to make sure we were happy and satisfied with the workmanship. Nothing but good things to say about the company and especially Michael!

We got our furnace and hot water tank replaced at the end of October. Ryan came by initially to give us the quote. He was awesome and answered all my questions. The two guys who installed both the furnace and the hot water tank were great. We are very happy with everything. Thank you!

We had Dan and his helper out today to replace our pressure tank and do a full diagnostic on the well.
These 2 deserve a day off for all their hard work today.
All seriousness though they were on budget and showed up on time.

Used these guys for home inspection. They are very professional and the prices are reasonable. Keep up the good work !!

Joan & Kimberly on Ontario Street: Terrible storm earlier in the week caused damage to the Hydro connection to our house causing the "neutral" to be wrecked which in turn caused crazy poltergiests in our house -blowing up appliances left and right and of course our brand new furnace! 1st visit identified the problem but parts had to be ordered. Jake Poel arrived at 7:30pm on Saturday night to install the parts and get our heat back on! Thank you Jake! We appreciate you fixing our heat!

From the office staff to the inspector Greg to the installers Kyle & Brian excellent people very pleasant explained everything clean work site. I would definitely recommend Doyle and will use them when needed. Everything was organized from the oil equipment removed to the propane furnace and tanks installed. The flow of work was seamless. My hat is off to all involved.

Contacted Doyle to get a quote. I was told that someone "would be in the neighborhood next week and will call me". No call, no show.
Re contacted them one week later. Was told that someone would call to set up a time and date. No call.
Never again.

We had replacement of our furnace and air conditioner along with all tubing completed in one day. Darrin was forthright in assessing the need for replacement and certainly did not oversell the possible options- rather suggested the best and most practical and economic solution. Shawn and Kirk performed the actual work in an efficient manner and left our home without any debris.
We certainly recommend this business to anyone looking for similar services.

Had a control box go out. The guys ( hastings/roseneath area showed up and just rocked that job! they didnt back down from a difficult lid removal and had everything up and running on a saturday night in 40 minutes. Im clean now and the dishs are done!

Just wanted to say Ryan Clark is prompt and very professional, also Anna does her job very well and always returned our call with an answers we need. As this was a long on going repair the guys that were sent to fix our fire place while waiting for came across as not to confident to me. So as we move on we will be requesting Ryan for maintenance. Two plumbers showed up for a one person job, unclogged a drain, didn't have a common pipe part despite having a work truck to fix a leak from a pipe they installed previously. Said they would have to come back with the part and charge for another service call? This happens frequently, they don't have a part, kind of a double billing scam. Expensive, no need for two plumbers, and doubtful they didn't have the pipe in their truck. $$$
