Walked in and fed the donkeys when no food they left us and some sociable donkeys accompanied us. Then drove in and the car was surrounded by donkeys the whole drive. Walking was a better experience, but both are recommended.

If you go to Bonaire you must definitely do this. ( With car) . Run by Dutch family. Tip: buy at least 5 bags of carrots (+ / _ 2 dollars) at the local Supermarket or at the shop (3 dollars) at the entrance. Admission $ 8 per person. The donkeys come directly to your car and as soon as it opens the window they stick their heads in to score a carrot. Very funny. You can also get off at various places without a problem. Note that they can become very enthusiastic in their begging for a tasty carrot. So NOT suitable for small children to get out of the car !!!

Place to see for animal lovers. Donkeys are so gentle and friendly. Its sad how they got neglected and left alone to fend for them self after people were done with them. This sanctuary is doing a great job , keep it up. Highly recommended to see and meet a bunch of different characters that will melt your heart.

It is wonderful to receive and take care of the donkeys that are superfluous and left to their own devices. Nice large area where the animals can roam freely. But also a "maternity center" and an infirmary. Hats off !!!

What an amazing, heartwarming experience. My husband and I went to visit the Bonaire Donkey Sanctuary on a cruise stop last week. It was SO MUCH FUN petting and feeding the donkeys. They are such sweet animals who want nothing more than affection, and are overjoyed when you give them the special treat of some fruit or bread to eat. We only had about an hour and a half to spend there due to taxi arrangements, but oh how I wish I could have stayed longer. I am going to be donating to the Bonaire Donkey Sanctuary in the future as it is such a good cause. Everyone, go visit the sanctuary and enjoy making hundreds of four-legged friends for life! You won't regret it!!!

A special place on Bonaire, where injured, sick and other donkeys are taken care of. Marina is fully committed to all donkeys on Bonaire. The donkeys have a huge area where they can walk around and where they are safe.

The many donkeys are lovingly cared for and cared for here. All this is done entirely on a voluntary basis without any subsidy. Fortunately there is help from sponsors and donations are of course gratefully accepted. True animal love still exists here.

Great place !!! The donkeys are so sweet. We went inside with the scooter and really enjoyed the donkeys. They come and stand with you and want to be petted. There is absolutely no need to be afraid of the donkeys, they are incredibly curious and sweet.

In the middle of the park is a lookout point where you can find some needed shade.

The Donkey sanctuary is ran by a woman that does everything to make sure that the donkeys on the island have a good life. The sanctuary itself is really big and the donkeys have a lot of space.

Definitely a unique experience! You get to drive in the midst of 700+ donkeys. You can also buy carrots to feed them. Great for kids and adults. It's approximately a 30-40 minutes activity, so it can fit easily in any days agenda.

The only place we walk or would ever take small children and walk is at the entrance where they have some of the donkeys that are rehabbing.
You have to use common sense every place you go. But obviously some people don't.

I'm not sure why this place gets such high ratings, maybe some people really LOVE DONKEYS. By the ratings and the things people were saying I honestly expected more, like a water slide or a carousel or something. No surprise but, there are lots of donkeys here, if you LOVE donkeys, then maybe this is a 5 star rating for you!

I came because I was curious why a Donkey Sanctuary was getting such high ratings. I did see some baby donkeys and they were cute, but I didn't really think it was worth the cost of admission or my time. However, if you are into Donkeys DO IT. There are wide open spaces where you can wander around and stare at donkeys. Which pretty much sums up this place perfectly, wide open spaces with donkeys every where.

Also another highlight for all you donkey enthusiasts out there, the gift shop will totally suit the fancy of anyone needing to load up on their donkey paraphernalia! For those of us not particularly interested in donkeys, there are other things that you may find more enjoyable.

If you enjoy funny and somewhat immodest animals than the donkey sanctuary is a great place to visit. The donkeys are also very pleased that you have come and especially that you brought carrots for them (you can buy the carrots there). Once they have found out you have the goodies, you will be surrounded and no escape is possible. A must-see when on Bonaire.

Such a great place to visit. We went with our daughters on golf-carts we rented to go around the island. You can go in and drive thru the sanctuary in the golf-carts but you can't feed the donkeys. To do that you have to go in a car where you are protected. The donkeys can get a little "pushy" when they see the food. Other than not being able to feed them we had soooo much. Its amazing to see the amount of donkeys and how big the area of the sanctuary is. We saw so many "wild donkeys" on our drive thru the island, just roaming the streets and the open spaces that the sanctuary is definitely a much needed place in Bonaire. Loved visiting and would definitely visit again.

Super fun to visit the donkeys and feed them carrots from the car. It's longer than it seems so if you want to stop and feed every donkey get a bunch of carrots. We got 2 bags and almost ran out half way through.

After we have always fed the wild donkeys of Bonaire. We realized that this can only be a drop in the ocean. That's why we decided to adopt 4-month-old Milosh here. These people are doing great things here. Injured donkeys are cared for and castrated. After that they can grow old here in peace. But the food has to be imported and is very expensive. Please make a small contribution to saving the donkeys on Bonaire. Go there, they will have the fun of their lives. Enjoying and expressing my pleasure.

Nice place to visit when you are on Bonaire. You do a kind of safari with your own car (4x4 recommended) through a park full of donkeys who put their heads in the car without mercy in the hope of getting a carrot from you (for sale at entrance). If you take it easy you are ready with 1 to 1.5 hours. The money goes to charity: it is a non-profit organization that offers shelter for the donkeys on the land.

We had lots of fun at the Donkey Sanctuary. Buy a bucket of food to support the Sanctuary and have even more fun while feeding the Donkey's. We spend about 2 hours in this park. You can drive or walk through this park.

We went yesterday and then again today. We encourage everyone to buy several bags of carrots at the ticket office and keep several to feed the donkeys throughout the sanctuary rather than at the front gate where many of the more outgoing donkeys stay. If you give out all of your carrots too early, you won't be able to feed some of the more shy donkeys later. Dont worry about having leftover carrots at the end, because you will drive out the same place you entered and there will be plenty of eager customers.
They all seem very gentle, but if you don't want 3 or 4 donkey heads thrust into your car, don't roll your windows down all the way.
A wonderful for family!

Donkey care without government support. A lot of donkeys, all of which must be fed on a barren piece of land.
Incomprehensible that this charity is not supported, because a lot of donkeys are running on Bonaire. They are not used anywhere. Crossing donkeys are dangerous, it causes accidents.
If the males were to be neutered, they would in any case no longer be added.

Our trips to Bonaire are never complete without a visit to feed the donkeys at the Donkey Sanctuary. We enjoy supporting their cause with a hilarious experience of feeding carrots to the donkeys who eagerly surround the car. Remember to take your camera!
