If you didnt see the donkey on the island, than you will see over 600 donkey i a great and fun time surounded by donkeys!
Wild donkeys are here. Always run in front of the car.
Great place, donkeys are not really afraid, you van approach them easily and by visiting you support the park and the volunteers. You can drive around, also buy some carrots to feed the donkeys.
Very good work is being done here. People there day and night devote 1000% to the donkeys
Consider it a nice initiative. You can buy carrots to feed the donkeys, and you can donate a bag of food for 10.
A lot of donkeys, I didn't feel very comfortable in one way or another for the first few minutes .. You arrive with your bag of carrots (or not) but those donkeys know that you have something with you. They walk with 2/3/4 and with the car, heads inside. Don't give them anything, they'll keep on walking. Other donkeys just stand in front of your car because they know you are stopping. (Incidentally, if you drive on slowly, they will move aside). Especially the first part (quarter of the total route) has the most donkeys (all tourists still have roots there, I guess).
Very nice to go. All windows in the car open and buy roots in shop.
Donkeys are super affectionate and stick their heads all the way in.
Money from entrance and other things from the store are completely for the benefit of the trapped donkeys. There are about 700!
Lovely donkeys! They follow you the whole round if you are (un)lucky. Don't be afraid of them they won't bite you
The owners do a really good job by taking care of the donkeys. Buy some carrots at the entrance and feed them to the donkeys while you drive through the park. Your kids will love it.
Keep up the good work! All on voluntary basis, nothing but appreciation and respect for this organization. Great day out with family/kids.
Definitely recommended if you are on Bonaire. The donkeys run on a very large area where you can go by car. Tip: bring carrots for the donkeys, they are already begging at the entrance.
12 USD to drive around and interact with the donkeys. fun for all ages and a worthy cause
The donkeys are sweet and well cared for. Many are brought in as injured or abandoned young ones that are nursed back to health. Adult males are neutered to prevent over population. They remain on the large ranch to enjoy their life.
If you are an animal person this is definitely a stop to check out. Donkeys aren't always the most interesting of animals but since most of those in the sanctuary are rescued or raised by the staff they are friendly, and the young ones are awfully cute. The special care area lets you walk around close and pet any willing to come up to you. The staff is also super friendly and will answer any donkey related questions you may have.
One note, if you happen to ride there on bikes, be mindful the tires are definitely free game for some donkey chewing if you leave them out!
Very nice and beautiful goal! It is surprising that in addition to gifts, food, etc., tickets are also sold for $ 9 pp. For the entrance. In my opinion, this is not or not clearly enough to be found on the website or the entrance to the park, which is an area for improvement.
When you like donkeys in your car, then you are at the best place of Bonaire.
Very nice, the donkeys really come at you and you can feed them easily, highly recommended. Flamingos, turtles and iguanas can also be seen.
Recommended for your visit to Bonaire. About 700 donkeys are now walking around, including a small one. They have been brought in after they have been hit or abused for example.
Dear animals, who like to run with your car or stick their head through your window for a carrot (you can buy it at the entrance). You can also get out to pet them. We have completed about 2 hours. There is also a shop with which you support the donkeys.
A must to visit when you are on Bonaire: more than 700 donkeys have a safe place here, in contrast to the wild counterparts who are struggling.
It is run by volunteers and you get a lot of explanation about their work.
Take 2 hours and buy lots of carrots to feed the donkeys, then you will have a great time!
Great initiative. Really just go when you are on Bonaire. Is worth your support!
About 400 donkeys live here, the other is running wild around the island. These are also half-wild. Here you can meet a lot you can feed or brush. Admission USD 9. Donkeys can be intrusive. The wild ones can also be found sometimes along the road,
The donkey sanctuary is a huge piece of land that is fenced off. Nothing much else was done to the terrain besides adding some shelters. You thus have to visit by car, otherwise it's too hot and tiring and the donkeys will overrun you. The animals themselves are adorable and friendly, but they are quite greedy, so they will chase your car and block your way in search of food. This is of course to be expected and it was really fun and exciting. Near the entrance there is also a paddock where you can go in and pet the donkeys and feed them. The place also has very nice and clean bathrooms and the staff was really friendly. The tickets were 7$ per person and there is a box for donations.
Donkey Heaven!! This sanctuary is so important to the survival of donkeys that have been running wild! There are around 600 donkeys here and we spent 3 hours feeding them carrots and petting them. They were all well mannered and most of them really liked the attention! One of the best things to do on Bonaire and you can help these wonderful volunteers and donkeys!!
Lovely place to visit and see a bunch of happy donkeys!
Wmbt a little too much donkey on a bare piece of land .. nice for the kids
What a beautiful and pleasant place for the donkeys!
They receive good care and enough space here.
Then you wonder why 1 star, I will explain that to you. The reception was very short. We had some questions and were immediately told if we wouldn't pay the $ 9 ... that we were negative and more. Really a bizarre sensation, we were very much looking forward to it, but enough for us to leave immediately ... Sorry but unfortunately!
Nice place to visit. The donkeys will definitely steal your heart!
Great outing. Visited 700+ donkeys. Feed them hay & carrots
Had a wonderful time visiting the donkeys with my family. The staff are full of caring for these gentle creatures, and I'm grateful they're working to improve the lives of all the donkeys on the island.
If your an animal lover and like to be surrounded by donkeys...This is the place to be: Just take a bag of fresh carrots (recommended) open your car windows and in in just a few seconds you will have donkey all around and sticking their heads in our car for a snack and their tame that you can pet and even hug them take pictures. Lot to learn and don't forget to buy a souvenier or help out with a donation or even adopt a donkey.
It is a donkey sanctuary. Admission is absolutely cheap for Bonaire at $ 8 per person. Before you drive in to feed the donkeys with carrots, they should be divided into small pieces beforehand, otherwise they are only enough for the first donkeys. There are about 700 pieces. For children in particular, it is difficult not to give the whole carrot at once and then the bag you have bought is immediately empty. Be sure to buy more than one bag. Very worthwhile, especially with children and if you want to do something good for the donkey. The entrance is used for feed. Such institutions must be supported.
Must visit! Lovely people taking great care of the donkey's!
Interesting sire, kind of sad seeing them all couped up though
Love the experience, was fun and exciting. You should probably buy some carrots to feed them. The donkeys will be hunting you down (in a funny way).
Wonderfull experience. It's very nice to drive through the sanctuary and feed the friendly donkeys.
We received a very warm welcome and explanation of what they are doing
Amazing spot and amazing experience. The Donkey Sanctuary hosts 700 (yes 7-0-0!) wild donkeys on 60 acres of land. The many staff members are super friendly and really take time to explain what they are up to and what's it like to run a sanctuary like this. The best part of the experience is the drive through in the park. You can buy a bag of fresh carrots (3usd / bag) and feed the donkeys from your car. I highly recommend you to buy at least two but probably more like 4 or 5 bags. Brilliant pictures and stories guaranteed!
Its was great, the only problem I had was that they tried to eat my wiper
Beautiful place where donkeys are taken care of very nicely.
We had a fantastic fun afternoon and laughed a lot!
Good initiative and noticeable on the island. Far fewer accidents and a lot calmer in the neighborhoods.
A great experience ... you drive through the facility and can see the donkeys up close. Sitting in the car with the window down, the friendly donkeys put their heads in the car and want carrots . Without carrots in hand you can also get out and cuddle the donkeys. Some really push you when you stop scratching them. Before that, there was a great briefing from very, very nice employees. All volunteers. Hats off! A great facility.
What an experience! What these people do for the donkeys. With annual donation for 1 donkey you make these harder workers very happy
Great, fun, sweet, cute, too cute .
You must have been here !!!!
cute donkeys but so savage! would come back if i visited bonaire again :) worth the stop
We had a wonderful time at the Bonaire Donkey Sanctuary. They came right up to us! Lovely creatures.
Great place to cuddle with Donkeys, view the turtles and iGuana's
We were there week ago and were welcomed wormly and told about absolute safety for everyone including visitors. My sons are 3 and 5 ad we were from cruise and by feet. Started our journey which is round about 1-1.5 km of open territory you can walk everywhere. So firstly we were surrounded by donkeys with the interest and felt more or less comfortable then after 200 meters of walking my younger son was attacked by single donkey which behavior was relatively more agressive than other ones. I took son on hands and then donkey run to elder son pushed him by his head and then run on him. Only by luck none of donkeys feet were on my son. My wife cried and jumped to pick up son and run away. Nobody was near us that time only 200 meters away we saw worker on electric car driving away. So again it was luck that we had only scratches on feet and broken glass on ipad which we used to make pictures. Shocked we run to the office and told our story to personnel and they were pretty surprised and the only thing they tried to convince us in that this had never happened which I cant believe and resisted to take money for entrance back. They dont have CCTV there or pretend not to have so If you would face that kind of safety problem like we faced, it would be very hard to prove and unguided tours in this place is simply dangerous. And personnel wouldnt accept your complain with the argument of this never has happened before like in our case
This place is a lot of fun. The best part is buying a bag of carrots and feeding the donkeys as they roam around the park from you truck window. You'll have at least 8 donkeys trying to jam their heads in your windows for a carrot. It's hilarious!
Nice place to watch if you are a Donkey fan. It is barren and dry like all over Bonaire, but the work of these volunteers gives the Donkeys a chance for a better life.
they can not handle a different opinion and they treat people like they treat their animals. Very bad. It is a disgrace for Bonaire and The Netherlands.
Donkeys are all over the island but if one gets sick or injured they are moved to the sanctuary. There of lots of donkeys to see and feed and interact with here and a watch tower if you want to view the sanctuary from higher up. Friendly staff.
Had never heard of a donkey santuary before, so we had to see what it was like. We hiked through their space on foot and had a great time interacting with them. Some are playful just like a dog. It was a fun and unique experience.
Great place. We adopted a donkey. Must see attraction on the island. She does a great job caring for the donkeys
Nice place to walk through the donkeys. You can also buy food for donkeys there and feed them.
Wonderful experience! The staff clearly love all their donkeys and take great care of them and getting to feed them and spend some time loving on these sweet guys was so great.
Beautiful location! With a beautiful story and owner.
Shelter for donkeys, run by volunteers and interns. Hilarious how these cute animals run after your car and want to go through your window with 4 at the same time in search of tasty carrots. Highly recommended
Wonderful place. Thank you for taking such good care of these animals.
