These people were a blessing to my family. They do exactly what they say when you re in dire need of help.
Just a note: People don t hold back from paying their utilities because they re sitting on a pile of money. The utilities get shut off because people fall into poverty. Why don t we just all donate a little to make someone s life much better.?

I was on hold waiting for 14 callers for 3 hours and 10 minutes after an initial estimate of 18 minutes. Then it went from "There is 1 caller ahead of you" to "There are 32 callers" ahead of you. After THREE HOURS of waiting.

So, if you're trying to call them, don't hold your breath.

Long story short...... Patty @ Dollar Energy told me "if I paid my bill, my electric would be on." Dollar Energy denied me a one time hardship grant of $421.00 to restore my electric service*(per PUC findings on 9-29-2019) because they were requiring me to be on PCAP. I am NOT wanting or requesting to be on PCAP.

About Dollar Energy Fund

Dollar Energy Fund: Improving Lives through Utility Assistance and Self-Sufficiency

Dollar Energy Fund is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of life for households experiencing hardships by providing utility assistance and other services that lead to self-sufficiency. As a 501 (c) 3 organization, Dollar Energy Fund has been serving communities in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland and Kentucky since its inception in 1983.

The organization was founded with the belief that no one should have to choose between paying their utility bills or buying food or medicine. Dollar Energy Fund provides assistance to low-income families who are struggling to pay their energy bills due to unforeseen circumstances such as job loss, illness or other emergencies.

One of the unique aspects of Dollar Energy Fund is its partnership with utility companies. The organization works closely with these companies to identify households in need and provide them with financial assistance. This partnership ensures that those who need help receive it quickly and efficiently.

In addition to providing financial assistance for energy bills, Dollar Energy Fund also offers programs aimed at promoting self-sufficiency. These programs include education on energy conservation techniques as well as job training opportunities for individuals looking to improve their employment prospects.

One such program is the "Watt Choices" program which educates individuals on how they can reduce their energy consumption through simple changes in behavior such as turning off lights when not in use or using energy-efficient appliances. This program not only helps families save money on their energy bills but also reduces their carbon footprint.

Another program offered by Dollar Energy Fund is "Direct Aid," which provides emergency financial assistance for families facing immediate crises such as eviction or medical emergencies. This program ensures that families do not fall further into debt due to unexpected expenses.

Dollar Energy Fund's impact can be seen through the thousands of households it has helped over the years. In 2020 alone, the organization provided over $10 million in utility assistance across its service areas.

The success of Dollar Energy Fund can be attributed not only to its partnerships with utility companies but also its dedicated staff and volunteers who work tirelessly towards achieving its mission. The organization relies heavily on donations from individuals and corporations alike who believe in supporting those most vulnerable within our communities.

In conclusion, Dollar Energy Fund plays a vital role in improving lives within our communities by providing essential services such as utility assistance and promoting self-sufficiency through education and job training opportunities. Its unique partnerships with utility companies ensure efficient delivery of aid while its various programs cater specifically towards different needs within low-income households experiencing hardships due unforeseen circumstances beyond their control.
