Had breakfast here 5/12/17. Wonderful people and the best buttery croissant I've ever had. Food and coffee were hot and fresh.

Outstanding place. Great products and great people doing excellent work to help veterans.
Nice breakfast sandwiches and good coffee. The staff is on point too.
One of the great coffee shops in DC that works as a social enterprise! Dog Tag Bakery operates to help veterans so you can help support their cause by dropping by and getting a drink or pastry. Ample space to do work or relax with a friend or a nice book
Great friendly people. Great pastries, and house brew coffee is one of my favorites.
Food great. I got the Barak Obama seat. My wife got stock with Joe Biden
Great pastries and friendly staff. One of the best biscuit I have ever had
Muffin was delicious, open tea in different sorts, ambience like the take away. Wait very short, service good
Dog Tag is an amazing place, it is a world class bakery producing all kinds of delicious food... and they do it while teaching disabled veterans not just to be bakers, but to run businesses. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
Dog Tag Bakery is on a mission to empower veterans and at the same time deliver great coffee, pastries and quick bites. Would recommend having a post-lunch iced latte during a hot summer day.
Cute cafe, friendly staff, and tasty food. There were a few gluten free options, ordered the frittata and it was delightful. Plenty of options for those with no dietary restrictions.
Wonderful place that you may miss in all the craziness of GT. Fresh pastries, delicious sandwiches and coffees, friendly service and tables to sit at and enjoy your meal. Great place to have a quick bite.
What a wonderful place to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy with a delicious desert or sandwich.
Their decor is lovely. We went for a special Comedy night held by the Armed Services ARTS Partnership! The barista on duty did an amazing job of not only cleaning up for the nite, but set up the food and refreshments flawlessly. She made sure my 7 year old granddaughter was comfortable and well fed.
I will be back.
Love the idea of empowering Vets! And teaching them business skills to succeed after their service ! Great job Dog Tag Bakery!
Good baked goods at a great price, with coffee to match. They've got a great mission and legacy to match so really no reason not to check this out when you're in the area.
Great food delicious desserts friendly out going staff
Ordered two gift boxes and a donation box after Vice President Harris posted about this place on Veteran's Day- what a TREASURE! The treats were a hit with my friends at our socially distant picnic- especially the chocolate macaroon!! Thanks Dog Tag Bakery for the treats and for supporting our veterans!
I got a egg and cheese sandwich- it was really tasty! Coffee was good, I was charged for a top off, which wasn't communicated to me until the coffee was already poured. Oh well. Money goes to a god cause. CHOCOLATE ZUCCHINI BREAD WAS AMAZING!
I'm looking forward to performing here this evening! This should be a great event for a great organization!
Cute concept. Bakery items not great. They didnt know what brand their tea was and at a certain point, they stop giving you real dinnerware and silverware even if you are eating in which isn't environmentally responsible and it makes you feel like you are eating at a cheap bakery.
Amazing professional staff, Food and atmosphere are both great. The mission is one everyone could support!
Good service and ambience, great pastries, and hot chocolate. Definitely recommend for a quick bite to eat.
5 stars. It was quiet and cozy, and I could easily work. Service was amazing as well, and they even brought me a free chocolatine! Unsurprisingly, it was delicious. I'm definitely going to come back sometime.
Wonderful, friendly service and they have strawberry rhubarb pie my favorite:-)
I love going to this cafe, before Covid I would go Sunday s for coffee and pastries. I have recommended so many of my family & friends.
Today I was so disappointed came in to get coffee and pastries with my husband. I asked for steam milk for my coffee. Supposedly I asked for too much milk and I was told very rudely that it was cafe ole I wanted not coffee!. She kept insisting on it how she WILL charge me for it. As if I was there to scam them out of paying for milk.
Really!
Needless to say we left.
Good coffee and a great little shop! The interior was really cool and fun, and I loved the message/cause of the business. Excellent service, too! Highly recommend; this is a Georgetown gem.
Great place to get a quick sandwich & pastry that also supports veterans.
Good Morning,
I want to congratulate the Dog Tag Bakery on the opening of this awesome opportunity for the Military who serve our country. Megan it was a pleasure speaking with you this morning and thank you so much for the information you relayed to me. I will be by to visit soon, with friends. I support your cause.
Everyone have a wonderful and safe holiday,
Angela
Very good food, friendly service, unpretentious, excellent location for a quick bite in Georgetown or a light lunch. Their catering/takeout options are also very good.
They're delicious, help military vets and their families, and are nut-free. Can you get any better than this? I think not
Pretty chill place but there was just one staff serving coffee and pastry so the serving time was a bit long
Not only does this place have the best coffee in Georgetown, it is also run as a non-profit to provide work opportunities to military veterans. The bakery is great and i recommend the Dutch apple pie.
What's better than a bakery that makes delicious baked good? A bakery that's also a nonprofit that supports and helps disabled veterans to get their MBAs and start their own small business. Nobel cause aside, the bread and cakes were super yummy! I tried the lemon chess pie (think lemon bar with a flaky crust), which was buttery and had a strong honey flavor. The place has a bright and cheerful vibe, and is perfect for studying or reading. They even have signs for laptop free tables. What a hidden gem near the Georgetown waterfront!
I came for a cappuccino and loved it. The foam was outstanding and will try a latte next time I am here. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was nicely decorated. I cannot say too much about this place since I came for a quick coffee, but was overall satisfied here. I like how this bakery is ran by two veterans.
Great place. Loved the atmosphere and what the do and they have gluten free items!!!
Fantastic breakfast sandwich. The croissant was super flaky & crispy!
Nice, clean and good place with delicious food. Absolutely, I ll come back again (:
Great ambience cozy and bright great coffee, and staff so friendly and welcoming, you ll feel like a regular from the first time you visit. Highly recommend!
Great coffee house with a great cause! Yummy pastries and options with superb coffee in a nicely decorated, down to earth vibe. Well maintained and friendly staff.
Really cute cute feel good place. The gingersnap cookie was phenomenal. The croissant sandwich was one thumb up. The peach cobbler and the muffin were decent but not the best I e ever had. I d definitely come here again because I like the idea and the service was awesome and fast.
Great food & extremely allergy friendly. Awesome staff
A great organization which is empowering the lives of our veterans and families.
Polished, sincere, yummy, and well-run, this place hits all the marks.
DECOR: Someone tried hard to get this right. The red-white-blue motif is subtly done, it doesn't scream "AMERICA F-YEAH" like the sorts of places that hang flags floor to ceiling. The chandelier is as pretty as it is overwhelming.
SERVICE: After maybe a dozen visits I can assure you everyone is polite, friendly, and helpful.
FOOD: SO weird, I have never had a bad meal here. Sandwiches, pastry, coffee, espresso, it has all been phenomenal. I suggest literally everything.
So why only for stars? Believe me, I've been clicking 4, then 5, then back. Here's my conundrum: it's a touch expensive. Clearly I don't mind, I think the food is worth the price, and it's Georgetown so you should expect to pay more. I eat dive, I eat posh, but this is the only place where I notice the $ every time I've been there.
The coffee scene has hit DC, but somehow it hasn't hit Georgetown. Yes, there's a few coffee shops/bakeries in G-town, but most don't have wifi (I'm looking at you, Baked and Wired). That's why my wife and I were excited to stumble upon Dog Tag Bakery on a recent shopping trip to the area. Not only do they make a great coffeecake and challah shallot bread, but they also have free, strong wifi and plenty of seating. We came on a Saturday afternoon and had no problem finding a place to sit.
If you're in Georgetown and need a coffee shop/bakery to work at, come here!
Sweets + social impact = Dog Tag Bakery! I love the mission of this spot, plus the quality baked goods, coffee, and ambiance. They close in the early evening, but otherwise this is a great spot for meetings, study sessions, or an afternoon refreshment.
I love this place! Friendly staff and a great selection. They clearly don't have a problem creating masterpieces in the kitchen.
This is a great organization and works hard to serve Vets. It's just a bonus that their baked goods are incredible.
Great service! Military discount. The staff were all very friendly and were familiar with the food. The passion fruit tart was amazing! Chocolate croissant and breakfast egg sandwich also delicious.
Great cause, great business model, great customer service. The food is solid but nothing to write home about.
Great atmosphere. Good variety. Nice place to chill out.
Love this place. Great food and very helpful and attentive staff
Amazing nice service nice people if you like you like tea definetly go there they have a bunch of dog tags on the ceilings
Lovely, patriotic themed, and inviting bakery. The coffee is outstanding and the baked goods are awesome. Cranberry-apple muffins are generous and the cinnamon rolls are a full meal. Friendly and cheerful staff make the coffee stop or breakfast a great experience. Well done!
Probably the best cookies in dc, be sure to get the sausage, egg, and cheese on a biscuit too.
Always a fast, easy spot to grab a great sandwich or amazing bakery item. Really friendly staff and a comfortable place to stay and eat.
Great initiative - we need more places with a social ethos such as the Dog Tag Bakery.
I would only suggest they think a little more about their environmental impact. When I received a yogurt parfait in plastic tub, whislt eating in, I asked whether it could be given to the next person eating out given I didn't want to waste the plastic. I was told there were no clean bowls and that it was already in the plastic cup so... Not really the right attitude. Also in 2020 we really shouldn't have cafes using take out cups for customers drinking in.
Aside from that it was great to find a place like this in Washington DC. Well done!
Wonderful coffee. Lovely frittata. Comfy atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Heartfelt mission w proven track record. Perfect!
What a great place. Excellent sandwiches and the best chocolate and vanilla macaroons I've ever had. And that's not the best part. It is a training center for Veterans to learn business skills. They cook and bake and manage the bakery. If you love great food and /or are a Veteran, it's a must visit when you go to Georgetown!!!
Excellent pastries and coffee with great service and concept. Visit and you will enjoy yourself!
Delicious food and drink served at an establishment with a mission. Will be going back the next time I'm in Georgetown.
Worth walking past all the other Georgetown bakeries for. Delicious pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and PLENTY of seating on two levels...no waiting for someone else to leave one of the five tiny tables! The staff were also super friendly.
Really cool, tucked away local Georgetown bakery with an interesting selection of baked goods including cookies, brownies, pastries, and other assortments. We got 2 cookies and a brookie(brownie cookie). Environment is relaxed, service was friendly and helped pick out some things we enjoyed.
Dog Tag Bakery catered our event at the Air Force Sergeants Association HQ today... and the sandwiches were amazing! Fresh-baked sandwich breads, generously filled with a variety of premium meats, gourmet cheeses and fresh greens, our guests were impressed and very well-fed. As a military support and veteran service organizing ourselves, we share DogTag Bakery's mission to empower the lives of our veterans and military families. Thank you @DogTagBakery #weareAFSA
What a great find off the main streets of Georgetown. We stopped in for coffee and treats in the morning and were amazed by the selection and quality. The scones and muffins were moist, dense and full of flavor. The Dutch apple pie and purple sweet potato pie (unique) were equally tasty. And the prices are decent (not Gtown prices). The staff are very friendly, funny and helpful. And all this with a solid cause too. What s not to love?
Crowded, chaotic not cheap and a bit noisy, but delicious. This is human, not pet food and drink, btw. The dog tag name comes from hiring veterans, fyi.
Butterscotch latte with oat milk was great! Cute spot with a ton of seating!
Incredible social enterprise bakery with a noble mission.
Very good breakfast and supporting Veterans even better
Great food in a clean, bright environment. Veteran friendly! The food is fresh and the dishes unique; however, bring your wallet - you'll need it, although it is Georgetown, so maybe not that much sticker shock. We'll be back.
Support this place. Especially since it is located in the middle of the Effete Elite.........ObamaNation.
I have been following Dog Tag Bakery on Instagram for 2 years. Love all their posts!
Unfortunately, when visiting this location I took an Uber from Pentagon City and then back. It was not what I expected, the Instagram has a lot more things then what's actually at the bakery. Also the staff I spoke to didn't even know about their Instagram page and when asking her about the different items she didn't care. I left with a brownie it was good. Buy this place was disappointing. I'm only giving 4 stars since for support for troops and the interior design and Instagram page.
Went in to get a cake, lady was literally so aggressive and rude about it
Fantastic spot to get your coffee, bakery, and studying needs. I also love the mission and it is a nut free facility.
I included the DTB in a trip from CA and asked for what Barack had, which was the ham sandwich; it turned out to be a very generous and nicely seasoned delight. Will be back!
All-around great food, drinks, service, and cause! I simply cannot get enough of the coconut macaroons.
