Docassist Review

Couldn't be more impressed! We've been trying to get a copy of our unabridged marriage certificate out of Home Affairs for 18 months with no luck. Doc Assist managed to get it for us in 1 week!!

I have sent 15 emails and still have not had a response. When ordering items from the Expat shop , you are advised to sign a disclaimer(see details below)

With this disclaimer you are basically giving up all your rights to :
1) Query when the parcel was mailed.
2) Query , should the parcel get lost in transit.
3) Ask your credit card company to investigate.
This is 100% in the company s favour and 0% in my(the buyers favour)
I asked Machelle what other options would be available to be and I never got a reply (after sending her 15 emails) and my order was simply cancelled without any prior notification from her

Machelle , the owner of the business is super proficient in tracing and calling out people who gives her company a negative review online.
(feel free to read previous google reviews on Doc Assist). Machelle gets really defensive when you question her integrity , not a good thing considering that she offers this service which is paid for by the client.
I am curious to see what type of hogwash explanation Machelle comes up with for this review.

Do not do business with either DOC ASSIST OR THE EXPAT SHOP , you will end up being the loser.

I have sent 3 enquiries with automatic reply it's been received. I called twice and no answer. Obviously have enough business that they don't need mine.

It was hectic trying to obtain SA-PCC from Ghana. The SA consulate in Ghana said they are only allowed to serve SA citizens. The only other viable option was via an agent. Most of the agents delayed in responding to emails, quoted unfavorable prices, required extra payment for courier services ,and had a longer turnaround time. Docassist was however super helpful!

Michel,Cleo, and the team were very professional, and kept me updated all the way. I was able to get the PCC in a record time of 6 weeks. I highly recommend Docassist!

Excellent service. Our unabridged marriage certificate was expedited and received within the 3 week estimate.

Even during Corona, docassist delivered my attested degree to my doorstep in 6 weeks and made the process easy.

Please note: I dealt with the PRETORIA office of Doc Assist.
We requested transcripts from Unisa as well as a Police certificate from them. We paid 2x courier fees to have these sent to two separate addresses. It took 7 weeks for the documents to reach us - both in one envelope! They completely disregarded the request to have the documents sent to two addresses - and I reminded them of this repeatedly! What happened to the R640 "Additional courier fee" that we were charged? I called them and the lady said she will get back to me by the end of the day - still waiting. I would not recommend the Pretoria branch of this business - maybe the Cape Town is better...

Excellent service, professional and efficient! I had 3 unabridged certificates expedited. They said it could take up to 6 months to get one... It took 2 months, compared to the 11 months I waited for my unabridged birth certificate when I didn't go through an agency. I was updated throughout the whole process and there was no need for me to follow-up at all!

I had 2 documents from Home Affiars to expedite and I have to say that the service and communication from Docassist was appalling. They provided zero feedback regarding the status of the documents almost 8 weeks after the date of application. Best thing is that I went to a different Home Affairs office to apply for the the same documents and received them at least 3 weeks before having to follow up with Docassist. This was an absolute waste of my money and I wouldn t recommend their services at all.

I sent my degree for authentication to Janine.
This was required for my Saudi work Visa.
She received my documents on the 28th of June and she posted it back on the 12th of July. She kept me updated on the processing of the documents, answered all my questions and she was very helpful. Original and authenticated documents were received in good condition. I highly recommend Doc Assist. They are professional and reliable

Unexpected delays in sorting out my visa documents out - it s been 7 working days so far and my visa application process is delayed. Today I was promised delivery but they got the delivery address wrong so now my documents have been delivered to the wrong person and the courier process has to start all over again. Would not recommend this company at all.

Do not fall for this trap! They will take your money and deliver nothing. You will get no feedback or short blunt replies that do not answer your question. They certainly were of no assistance. When requesting a refund, its another story. Reported them to the consumer goods and services ombudsman, no business should be taking money for a service they cant provide.

Requested Apostille of birth certificate and received it within 4 working days. Highly recommended.

Angry that docassist assured me that Licence Certificates are sufficient enough to exchange Driving Licence in UK if your actual card has expired. I now have 2 (one for myself and one for my husband), these documents are not cheap and they are worthless as UK does not accept them if your card has expired

My request did not receive attendance and was misunderstood by the consultant. Very unreliable. Rather use CITISPRINT for apostille courier services. Docassist also overcharges for simple tasks.

Never use this company also related to Expat shop. They demand their money for goods and they are never recieved, and wonder if they were even dispatched !!! They hide behind small print, they will not refund when goods are not received. Machello makes excuses and delays responding to queries and is extremely unhelpful.

Exceptional service received from this Company. I applied for my Unabridged Marriage certificate at Home affairs. Normal waiting period 6-12 months, however I requested Docassist to expedite my document for me. From requesting a quote, paying for their service till they informed me my document was ready at Home affairs 1 and a half weeks. They are professional and I can recommend their service to anyone!! Honestly, one of the best services out there!! DocAssist helped us expidite our Unabridged Marriage Certificate in 3 weeks! Well worth the money. We requested our unabridged marriage certificate. Not only did they think ahead for us and advise us to get it notarized - turns out we needed that, though our visa agency didn't inform us - but they delivered on their fast promises. They are even open up until Christmas to process orders that went in before they close on the 15th Dec. They care about getting the job done and making sure their clients have everything they need ASAP. Will definitely come back should we need further services.

Michelle and her team were excellent in obtaining my father's unabridged death certificate. It took the Dep of Home Affairs 13 months to try and find the document. I then called Michelle and received the document within a month. Thank you and I appreciate your hard work.

I don't understand, I was willing to pay and happy for them to assist me in my documentation but it sounds like they are overworked and came across very rude.

We passed our Canadian Citizenship exams with full marks. During our document check, all docs were found to be in order. So our Citizenship application was successful and approved. We are soon to become proud Canadian Citizens.

We have used DocAssist for all our document requirements throughout our entire immigration process. Since 2012 DocAssist assisted us in two SAPS Police Clearances, Unabridged birth certificates and eNaTIS Confirmation of South African Drivers Licenses, and the confirmation that our licenses are free of any endorsements. We are as we speak, again making use of the services of DocAssist to acquire our final SAPS Police Clearances before submitting our Canadian Citizenship applications. DocAssist s working environment is not getting easier, but their commitment to their clients remains of the highest standards. I recommend DocAssist to all my fellow South Africans here. Urgently needed an unabridged document which could take long to obtain. Was assisted and received the doc in a matter of about a week, which was much sooner than I anticipated. Thank you

I see some people give them good reviews. Someone also recommended me to them, but unfortunately I still only experienced frustration. They do not come back to you, but are eager to receive money from you. They are supposed to have an "agent" who liaises with Home Affairs on their behalf. I have been waiting for a birth certificate for four months now. I do not even get feedback on progress. The times I do get an answer, it's something in animal joints of corona and the people at Home Affairs who are not at full capacity. I'm sorry but I'm still struggling to believe it. Not everything that goes wrong in the country is the fault of the government or covid-19. If they wanted to inform you about progress every now and then, it would have helped a lot. So, watch out for the fate!

I am grateful to businesses that still have such an attitude towards their clients. I am helped with a lot of kindness every time and the one time I was in crisis I really experienced that they were going to do their best to help me and they did too! Great thanks to Norma and Renate

I have not had a good experience with these guys. This really just feels like a complete scam to me. We were notified by them that our unabridged marriage certificate is out only to follow up later with home affairs that it wasn't. We further kept calling the home affairs call center to check the status. It was much later revealed that they could not find our Marriage Register. We personally gave all of this to home affairs and did the follow up ourselves. Just advice for anyone. There is no such thing as an expedite process with Home Affairs South Africa. This whole business is a scam. These guys do nothing except take your money and pretend they have sorted you out.

Docassist service is non existent! Home Affairs were more friendly and effecient than what they were. Useless!! Will definitely not recommend them to anyone!

Docassist managed to get my docs out within a week of payment - even before the official Home Affairs deadline had passed.

Worst service ever, taught of ever possible excuse not to assist me. Did not even attempt to solve my problem and became rude. Will never use this "doc not assist" service

Failed to deliver a police certificate on time despite it being processed in sufficient time by SAPS. DocAssist did not understand or respect my time constraints. It took multiple phone calls and emails to achieve a relative simple task. Will not recommend this service. This comment relates to the Pretoria office.

TOP CLASS SERVICE AND STAFF - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

SAPS had recently misspelled my husbands name on his Police Clearance Certificate and as we are in the process of emigrating, we honestly don't have the time to reapply and wait the usual 8-10weeks for the correction. I had then contacted Machelle from DocAssist who had come to the rescue, responded immediately and was extremely professional, incredibly helpful and insanely 'opit' on every point. She managed to sort out the Police Clearance Certificate in 3 days. 3 DAYS!!! She is also helping us with our unabridged marriage certificate and I honestly could not recommend DocAssist more! Huge thumbs up to Machelle and her team. Thank you guys!

If I could give a ZERO I would. I sent my papers to them and they had it for three months without touching or working on my papers. They constantly lied and said they've sent it and they are waiting for the other companies to do their part. Finally after three months we find out that they only opened the package with all my documents in a week before. That cost us flying back to South Africa and having to do everything ourselves.

They assisted us with fantastic step by step help and keep us informed on the progress of the certificates being issued right from the beginning through to the end of the process.

We had several documents we needed from Home Affairs:
- Fathers Birth Certificate
- My Birth Certificate
- Grandparents marriage certificate
- Parents Marriage Certificate

After a year of struggling with Home Affairs and emailing over 100 people, several meetings and phone calls (this included Home Affairs lying to us about our orders)

I found these superstars online and within 2 weeks we got all of our certificates

We are also recommending them to several of our friends and continuing to use their service for various other orders for documents that we are also trying to get hold of

Machelle and Orienta went above and beyond to help me expedite my UMC. I had been waiting almost a year for it and within 16 days from asking them to expedite I was able to collect my UMC from Home Affairs. No errors and no fuss even during the covid-19 pandemic

Out of all of the doccument companies assisting with expedition of doccuments they are by far the best when it comes to price. They dont rip you off and are veary reasonable.
