Nice impressionist permanent collection, cool variety of rotating collections, and my favorite, the gorgeous gardens. They are even nice during the winter.
Beautiful peaceful place to visit. Not only can you view master pieces but also walk the grounds. It's like heaven in the city.
Took my students here for a field trip. The landscaping is superb and the education staff is great with kids. They offer free events for the whole family frequently.
What a Gem! Visited for the 1st time during summer family time . I love how they make it very family friendly, while walking through the gardens, and the kids get a star sticker at each activity! And the event is held 3 or 4 times a year:) Will have to visit the museum next time! And it's totally FREE But well worth becoming a member
Great gallery and gardens. It is free on Saturday to locals until 11 am.
Love it here great getaway from the everyday i had a very calming experience at this art gallery very welcoming from the staff to the atmosphere
A worthy place to be visited in Memphis due to a incredible combination of art collection and beautiful gardens.
I'm not a flowers aficionado but i most to confess that the blooming tulips in May are jaw-droping
A wonderful art museum that also hosts a number of great events.
Obviously the best burger and atmosphere in town. Been shootin tooth picks into that ceiling since I can remember
A beautiful place hidden away that every visitor to Memphis should see. The impressionist gallery is spectacular and the gardens are gorgeous.
The grounds are beautiful, and Food Truck Fridays are awesome!
Great place for kids to learn and discover new things...
Delightful garden and art museum! Very helpful and friendly staff. Fresh Flowers are many of the rooms, complementing the season and art work. Small cafe and gift shop are a nice touch as well. Amazing porcelain from Europe and the painting gallery is lovely. Perfume exibit on lone was very interesting and large.
What a lovely location for an art museum surrounded by gardens. The special exhibit on Abstract Expressionism was well curated. The Park + Cherry cafe was a great place to enjoy a bite after viewing art. Delicious sandwiches on home-baked bread.
Beautiful grounds! Wonderful place. Will be attending more events here.
We had our wedding reception at Hughes Pavillion on 8/22/15 and I could not recommend Dixon enough. Sarah was an absolute dream to work with from the very start. She was always so nice and always available to answer every little question I had. If you're thinking about an indoor/outdoor reception in Memphis, please just go look at Dixon Gallery & Gardens. You'll probably fall in love immediately like I did!
The tour guide was very detailed and the Munch and Learn event was very interesting and can't wait to come back.
Fired those buffy bodyguards...they are scarry...simply place a sign that says don't touch....we are all adults, right?!
AMBIANCE is quite welcoming as you enter the door. I attended the Lynn Nottage Fest which was quite Enlightening and Powerful pertaining to the early eras on which the 3 dramas were based.
Get out and smell the flowers!!!! Oh lunch in the cafe was great too!
First time visiting and very happy surprise. Great European paintings and the grounds
Beautiful Garden my coworker had his wedding here very nice
Beautiful place to visit on a date or with friends. Calming and serene
An art paradise! What a cultural treasure in Memphis! The gardens are fun to walk through... the grounds lend themselves to reading, or just plain daydreaming. A romantic date idea!! Free Saturday admission too.
Amazing exhibits, beautiful grounds, gardens! Lovely venue 4 weddings or celebrations of any kind.
GO!
We walked through the gardens which are terrific. Outdoor sculptures are worth the walk. Did not go in the museum but have and it is really nice and has special exhibits regularly.
Can't beat this venue for the price, great grounds and ART.
Absolutely gorgeous in the summer! My cousin had her wedding and reception here and it was the best wedding I've been to. The gardens are amazing and the green house just for aromatic plants was my favorite thing I've ever seen as a horticulturist. The few staff I talked to were nice and accommodating. They have a small cafe if you are stranded and need nourishment.
Friendly, helpful, workers. Exquisite gardens!! Museum was a taste of elegance and history!
Beautiful. Went to this and the Botanic Garden next door in the same day and would highly suggest the Dixon gallery and garden if you had to pick one. They had a free tour of the gallery given by a very knowledgeable docent. The center pieces were wonderfully made using fresh flowers from the garden. Definitely worth the admission price (not that it's expensive).
Disappointing art collection. Gardens seemed ok. $7 is reasonable. In and out in 30 minutes.
Art to Grow was at Lakeland Elementary last week. As an art teacher, I can honestly say their program was excellent. Both Danielle and Christen were excellent in their presentation; their timing throughout the process was impeccable. I was intrigued at how involved students were in the project and learned a lot myself from these two fine young ladies. Thank you Art to Grow.
the art is so beautiful especially when you at work observing
This is a fantastic gallery and garden. Wonderful atmosphere. The garden has interest all year round. You won't find a better deal for a relaxing afternoon or weekend visit as entrance is only a minor fee. New exhibits rotate through seasonally so there is always something new to explore.
A great hidden gem! the grounds are immaculately maintained with many sculptures, gardens and water features. In the summer they do movies on the lawn and even offer a blanket for you to use to have a picnic. It was a real treat to visit and the museum art was also a pleasure.
Every day is a beautiful day at the Dixon! Stroll through the gardens and visit the museum. Be sure to notice the live bouquets arranged with flowers from their very own cutting garden!
The lecture was interesting though not what I expected from the title. The exhibit was beautiful and informative. It was a beautiful day in such a lovely place. Made me forget the outside world for awhile. I can hardly wait to go back.
Galleries closed, but no one thought to mention that as we went in expecting to see everything. Good thing we paid for the 20 minutes of viewing ~5th of the usual offerings..
Dixon Gallery and Gardens is a beautiful venue. I attended my Aunt's wedding, and the venue, wedding, and atmosphere were perfect!!!
What a lovely place!!!! I am so happy we live less than 3 miles away. Definitely going there many times.
Love the grounds but too much gravel. Difficult to push a wheelchair around in.
Loved the ambiance, art and the cafe was the best part. The staff was friendly and the food was heavenly my compliments to the head chef
I was there for the 10th Art on Fire and it was spectacular. The Dixon is pretty awesome even without a special event going on though. Their shows are always well presented and the permanent collection is a well curated selection of art. The gardens are lovely year round, but especially in the spring.
Wonderful museum. We were there for the "Contemplating Character" exhibit and it was fascinating. We were also lucky enough to be there for their "food truck Friday" and ate in the gardens. Highly recommended.
Great museum and gardens, helpful and knowledgeable staff! Lots to see, take your time and visit.
I took a group of 44 middle schoolers for a docent-led tour and sketching. The staff was phenomenal, and we had a great experience.
Beautiful gardens and nature walk. Beautiful place to have a wedding.
This was a beautiful place. I just stumbled across it. We are here on vacation and just googled things to do and I'm so glad we did. This place was absolutely beautiful. The gardens were stunning. The art collection was extensive. It's more than I imagined. We were literally just walking in not knowing what to expect and wearing shorts and t-shirts and we're greeted with smiles. I suggest at least dress casual not touristy.
Great place to discover art! Exhibits are always interesting and unique. The grounds are covered in beautiful plants and flowers, which is always what attracts my attention. Food truck Fridays in the Spring/Summer are awesome too!
So impressed by the beauty of the gardens, art, and building.
