Staff were really friendly and welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. Food was to a high standard and served within 15 minutes of ordering. Great atmosphere in the pub, it is family friendly and dog friendly too! Will definitely be going again!!

Was a mix up with booking as online bookings not registering. First choice of food not available. When my second choice of shepherds pie arrived was really a minute portion. Very disappointing.

Gave this place a try a few weeks ago as it's our new local. First of all I would like to say how lovely, helpful and accommodating the staff were. We couldn't fault them; simply lovely humans all round. The food on the other had was... abysmal. I was actually embarrassed sitting there with my family as it was my suggestion to try. We have 2 Gluten free members of my family... the places doesn't even have an allergys menu to start with. So my family are given the allergy list and spent aages scouting every item this place sells one by one to see if it's Gluten free... turns out the opinions were very limited, this usually signals cheap, easy to cook food. They ended up ordering chips. My mother got what looked like 5 chips! My sister ordered the double portion and barely got much more; this is listed as a meal remember. We waited an appallingly long time for our meals which didn't come together, were rather small portions and were some were cold. I thought my solution would lie in a nice cold cider on a very warm evening... but no, the choice simply wasn't there either. We left embarrassed, thirsty and still hungry. To top it off we then get a fine for parking in their car park... So they are happy to fine you and make you pay for your custom. Happy to never repeat that experience again even with out the Gluten free humans in our party.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Was very busy on Friday evening but all worked hard to keep customers happy and satisfied, especially the young lad Bobby who never stopped smiling despite the heat and packed bar!

Visited for lunch and drinks today on a busy Mother s Day and can t fault the staff. Food and service were impeccable and the attentive staff couldn t have done more for our party, which included children and pensioners. Will definitely be returning :-)

Good selection of food as well as it been excellently cooked and the presentation of delivery of the food is second to non. The way they accommodate a large party while managing the rest of the pub is full credit to the staff and management. Top place. Great evening.

Not sure why they need to have parking cameras. Despite coming every September for many years I got issued with a fine because I wasn t aware. So be aware you have to log your number plate at the bar.

The staff and service we experienced at the Hammer and Pincers on the 4th July 2020 with the enforced restrictions and guidelines due to COVID-19 were excellent and made us feel safe and well looked after. I will definitely be returning

Ok so it was Saturday evening and football was on. The pub generally looked a bit scruffy outside, yeah it's winter..service was ok, the game was not good and ruined by younger louts with questionable social skills. Lots of Tv 's though. Will go again.

Food very disappointing. Steak pie was all pastry and scampi all breadcrumbs. Even the portions of peas were mean. Won't be returning as much better cheap food and drink elsewhere eg Wetherspoons

Nice meal. New on the menu quorn chilli nuggets. They didn't have rice for the kids menu. They had run out of strawberries for the build your own Sunday icecream on the kids menu and it was not presented as on the menu. They had also no kids Jelly in the alternative. So all in all low on stock. The male waiter was kind and polite. Food was ok. A little flat other than that. Not sure I'd come back.

Had an excellent lunch, the standard of the food, the way it was cooked and presented was better than the price reflected. The service was professional yet friendly. A good experience once again

Very poor venue to watch sport. My last two visits to the pub have been to watch international rugby games. Although the pub is willing to put the England game on TV, they frequently have the volume so low it is impossible to hear the commentary. Bar staff frequently switch TV channels in the middle of a game or at half time when you want to hear the pundit analysis. On my last visit a very grumpy chef came out in his whites and simply changed channel without even checking with the clientele to determine who was there to watch the match. Naturally this was cause for much abuse which I assume the bar staff would prefer to avoid. Added to this the pub is often quite yobby. All in all there are better pubs in the area, with nicer atmospheres and with more friendly bar staff.

Was very disappointed with the customer service we received last night. At 8:54 we tried to order food but were refused on the basis that the kitchen was closing (yet other people were ordering) this would have been (maybe) acceptable if the kitchen closed at 9pm, yet their website states the food serving hours are 11:30am to 10pm!

Came in for a meal with partner, was able to take my dog in as well which was great, it meant didn't have to eat outside like most places. The staff was very helpful and friendly, atmosphere overall was good. Nice friendly pub.

We used The Hammer and Pincers for my wife 70th birthday party. We had the snug to ourselves for around 35 guest. Having chosen the silver buffet we added samosas, pakoras, brownies and profiteroles. We dealt with Emily and Hugo who really took care of us for the evening. We were able to connect our own music to their system and pipe it into our room. We had a fantastic night and every commented on the quality of the food on the buffet. A big thank you to all especially for Hugo for his attention to detail.

Good pub with excellent staff. But the clientele are foul mouthed and I haven't seen so many people smoke for years which made the terraces even more unpleasant. Lots of young groups completely ignoring social distancing

Usually this is great little local pub and generally most of the staff have a great and friendly approach to giving good customer service. Just recently though I have noticed a minority that just can't be bothered with the customer service delivery thing........customers....who needs them.....????

A great, friendly local pub. Has a lovely vibe, particularly at weekends. The bar staff have excellent customer service, particularly Marie, Megan, Bobby & Ben. Good offer on cocktails - really like the strawberry collins

I went in on sunday for the football due to the weather and not risking going to the ground. I was so impressed, what an atmosphere and made even better with the banter between owls and blades and that the landlord is a big owl, great to see the banter taken in jest. Will be returning for future games. Spot on

The food is standard pub food. I had scampi and chips which was ok it's very standard pub chain food. Busy buzzing atmopshere on a Saturday. The menu on the website is however slightly different to the actual menu in the pub!

Pub was half full but still waited over an hour for starters to come, asked how long it would be, waitress said she'd check but never came back, food finally arrived but they'd messed the order up so half the table had to wait longer. No More
